youre right about the future reguarding connectivity. but my 2021 bike did remember the settings for audio routing. so harley must of messed up with the 2024 roadglide I have the same bike as yours that's the only thing on mine that has given me any trouble. thanks for your input.
Great video. I just got my Road Glide last week and even used your video to help with my dealer negotiations. I am going to try this mod, but as a hobby I design and build 3D products, so I going to purchase the frame and then design a 3d printed adapter to use the stock holes as well as fill in the gaps. Should be fun.
That’s so cool you used my video for negotiations, I love that wow!! Thank you for the support and congratulations on the new bike!! If you do make a sweet 3d printed version do me a favor and get in touch with me and show me, I’d love to see what you come up with!
@@OffWeekGarage Hopefully the image and link comes through, but here is what I came up with that seems to be working great. i.etsystatic.com/47887929/r/il/7836ac/5822861130/il_794xN.5822861130_ik5s.jpg
Great Mod, but a few things that need to be done, First is why the hell did you cut the bike wiring, cut the connector off the old light !! and Please do something with those holes in the fender so the tire doesn't fill them with mud and the rubber holds it in and rust the fender out, also the drilled holes need some sort of protection on the bare metal now. When that amazon light doesn't work any more the corrosion in the wire will travel in to the factory wiring, so it wont be easy to replace again and you will be chasing the wire further up looking for good wire to solder to again
Not sure why you thought anyone would crucify you for customizing your bike. That's what they're for! Excited to see what you do with the bike. Congrats.
As I’ve began sharing with the world via RUclips I’ve already experienced some strong opinions and just figured this would be no different. The support and love for it makes me very happy though. Makes me excited to do more!!🙌
Looks nice, but why not use a thin, curved backer plate to mount to existing holes? Same look no drilling the fender. Also wouldn't have needed spacers.
Nothing like that existed at the time of making this video and I didn’t care about drilling holes in the fender. Even now we’re starting to see some 3d printed options which look great, but they have to be bigger than the plate mount to cover the factory stuff in the fender, tho way with the rubber trim avoids that. I’m happy with my route I went, but there are easier, less invasive options no doubt!
Woah!! $400.00?! The price of convenience is high when it comes to Harley… This definitely won’t be for everyone and I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to drill holes and cut connectors. Thanks for watching!!
Perfect modification. The factory setup was ugly. I wondered how to do something similar, so thanks for sharing your video. Now what to do about the huge ugly taillights?
Looks awesome. Think Ill have the shop do some on the bikes on the showroom floor. Got a lot of my customers talkin shit about the stock license plate monstrosity deal lol. Just came across your channel recently. Keep up the good work 🤘
I don’t like that the mounting bracket one sticks the plate out from the fender, and that it has a big valence above it to cover the holes I was talking about. This is as lean as I could make it.
Great mod and thanks for doing your video on it. I just might do this to my 24 CVO as it looks really sleak and wickedly cool. She’s your bike to do what you want to it, altho I can understand peoples apprehension after spending their hard earned money on a bike. Enjoy the miles 👍🏻
That I do not know, this is my first HD and I haven’t explored that yet… I can say if you look at my heated gear video, there are a couple clips showing under the seat all the wiring and ecm and what not, you may be able to see it there?
I hear ya, something will become available eventually, it’ll have to be a bit bigger to make up for covering the holes, but something will come out eventually!
Did doing this cause problems with the warranty especially with the new dash electronics? Seems like you may have created a loophole in the warranty. Looks good but that would be my main concern. I’ll wait and see what the aftermarket comes out with in the future.
Solid question, I doubt they would hassle on it, but yes, waiting til you get a better option may be a good idea. I am voiding my warranty this coming week for you guys, so I’m not concerned with it. If they void my warranty for soldering a positive and negative wire together it’s not worth trying to keep the warranty alive for someone like me who is going to be making changes.
I’m not fond of the license plate lamp (or the stock air intake for that matter. )…. Your mod looks great, but you’ve got WAY more courage than me.. I won’t be drilling my fender anytime soon,
I spoke with Hogworkz and they're making up some modifications for the saddlebags and 3 bar lights. I dislike the backend to some degree at least and believe they were aiming for the Ultra look. Nothing wrong with a different look but give us some options if you like the look of the prior years. Since they want us to modify then they dropped the ball here.
Am I the only one with a 24’ with 105 miles on it and a constant check engine light? Had it scanned and it was for a loss of communication to one of the bar control switches
It does and it’s highly frustrating, at one point I unpaired my phone and Sena from the bike permanently to avoid all the hassle. There is an option in Sound where you can click audio routing and set it to headset instead of speakers, but I still have to fiddle with it every time I shut the bike off and dread it. I don’t really blame Harley for this issue, it’s a lot of devices all bluetoothed together trying to work together, I just blame it on the times, in 5 years we’ll laugh at how clunky connecting devices is currently, I hope….
Like I explained in the video, if you use an adapter plate that uses the original holes, you either have to make it much bigger than the plate size to cover the existing holes underneath, or the plate has to be mounted a bit away from the bike to have access to the back side of it, then exposing the big square hole in the fender.
I considered it, and then weld some studs on the back that can use the existing holes, it can be done, but this was by far the most simple and doable. Plus it was fun drilling my fender 😅
Thank you for this comment. Hate the stock mount but was not going to drill holes into a brand new bike nor cut wires as I want to be able to retain some semblance of resale value down the road. That being said I think he is brave and did a great job, I do fear the holes drilled without paint will cause paint to rust and flake long term in 5+ years but just my 2 cents. Already order the CD setup, its worth the extra money to retain factory mounting and plugs.
It would’ve looked better if you painted it the same color as the bike. And, It would’ve looked more like it was a part of the fender too, especially when the LED’s lit up.
Dude, I have to tell you again how good that plate looks on the fender, you killed it!… Exactly what Harley should’ve done!
Thanks man I appreciate it!!🙌
What the stock number of the parts you used also drill bits sizes thanks looks great
I looked on Amazon but 3 plates on they and still can’t find wire is ur plate gloss black or black
Looks so much better than the big stock light, just looks sleek and clean. Nice Job!
I like the stock light & mount better but it’s your bike!
Excellent. Why HD don't do this stock is beyond me. They have their silly reason, I'm sure.
Glad you like it, thanks for watching!!
Technician approved- Excellent job! Thanks for sharing it lot of people will follow your lead!
Looks real good minus drilling holes that eventually will get rust.
The holes are painted but if it rusts I guess I’ll have to do a carbon fender!
Who cares if you drill 100 holes it's your bike you pay for it You make it yours Thanks for a great video.
Thanks for the support!! Glad you enjoyed!
Wow, this video is very informative. The lighting is far superior to the stock version, and the overall look is incredibly sleek and polished.
Thank you! Glad you like it!!🙌
i would highly recommended putting some of that grommet around the whole your wires are in. the vibration will eat through those wires in no time.
New mount is great. Good job 🎉
Thank you sir!!⚡️
Brave man for drilling… looks 10X better 👍🏻

I think you did good. You’ll see a lot more people doing similar things to theirs after they see this. 👍🏻
Nice work. Looks good. Much better than stock.
looks WAY better for sure !! nice work. I am waiting for my RG to arrive. Cant wait. Did you get the software update issue fixed?
I would do the same thing! The 1st time I saw one of these bikes I said, "that license plate light/holder is hideous!"
Looks great. I would go back and do some rust prevention on the holes now before it’s too late though!
I did go back and do that along with fender sealer!
Looks great, now some smoke lens on those taillights
Perfect modification. The factory setup was ugly. I wondered how to do something similar, so thanks for sharing your video. Now what to do about the huge ugly taillights?

Quick question, why this plate frame versus the cvo model one that has the mounting bracket for these new style bikes?
I don’t like that the mounting bracket one sticks the plate out from the fender, and that it has a big valence above it to cover the holes I was talking about. This is as lean as I could make it.
@@OffWeekGarage definitely agree with how lean and clean it looks has me leaning towards the yaffee bagger nation one 👍🏼

I’ve used the same frame on my custom HogWorkz fender and CVO fender. It’s the nicest cleanest look n my opinion! Great video.
I agree, clean, OEM plus is the way for me! Thanks for watching!🍻
Nice job on the license plate light👍
Thank you sir!!
Mann I have been thinking of doing the same. You just made it an easier decision, lol. Thanx
Great work!!!!
Awesome!! Glad I could help!
Is the plate u used black or gloss black also the wire that the number for it. Thanks
What rubber trim did u use on the plate to the fender? Part number?
It is linked in the description!🤜🤛

Looks good but I don't have the balls to drill holes in mine lol Ill wait until they come out with a flush mount that fits the OEM mount
I hear ya, something will become available eventually, it’ll have to be a bit bigger to make up for covering the holes, but something will come out eventually!
Just saw on eagle lights they give you a Harley part# for the backing plate for curved plate mount.
Did doing this cause problems with the warranty especially with the new dash electronics?
Seems like you may have created a loophole in the warranty.

What about 3m double sided tape? That would've held the aftermarket plate in place just fine.

This may sound different from someone 68 years old but I like the other 2 bikes you have better

Yeah it was definitely high risk high reward activities! Thanks for watching!!
Great job! Plain n simple
..wet environs, dab of single part poly marine grade white paint to protect new holes drilled, forever...😸
I would say turn off your shop lights to show the plate light but it looks good in the dark from the shot to had.
13:18 for shop lights turned off clip, thank you!
Where did you get your windshield ?
Really surprised you didn’t fabricate an adapter plate so you would mount to the original screw holes.
Like I explained in the video, if you use an adapter plate that uses the original holes, you either have to make it much bigger than the plate size to cover the existing holes underneath, or the plate has to be mounted a bit away from the bike to have access to the back side of it, then exposing the big square hole in the fender.

Pull the bolts and paint the now bare metal holes before they develop too much rust.
