YES DUDE! Congratulations my dude! I am currently converting my Ram Promaster and watching all of your build videos and they have really been helping me out!! Thanks my dude!
Wow. Can't tell you how glad I am that you did this video. Trying to piece together dimensions from various different websites and models has been a pain. I really appreciate the floor to "windowbox" measurement(26"), which is nowhere else on the internet.
Congratulations! So awesome to have a shop! I built out my 2021 RAM ProMaster 1500 low top (I’m shorter 5’ 9” so it works) without a shop and it was tough! Wow! Very organized! Shop envy!!
Great to have you back. New workshop looks good and looking forward to the new build. Lucky for you that my brain is programmed to convert inches to centimetres in real time. 😀😀
OH SHOOT! Didn't even consider the metric system.... But you know what they say... there are countries that use the metric system, and then there are countries who have been to the moon ;) Lol
I’m building a 148” mid-roof Transit as well. Just finished the interior cabinet/seating framing. Ton’s of electrical stuff on the way. I’ll stay tuned. Thanks for sharing!
You know I’m a big fan of your vids and builds! Looking towards getting my rig early summer and would like to have you do conversion. What’s the best way to contact you?
I have been considering a Ford Transit Medium Roof, so am very interested in watching this and learning! Ford has two vans with 148" wheelbase though. One is shorter, and the other is the extended, so I am hoping to find out which this is.
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds Thanks. I prefer the Non-Extended, even though there is not as much room inside. Driving dirt roads in the forests, up and down steep hills doesn't work as well with the extended. Actually - to be the most nimble I would go with the short wheelbase. But they ever 1/4 inch counts!
Can you give me the distance from the bottom of the flare to the floor? I want to use the Flare space ultra lite bed system and would like to know the distance to the floor under the bed. I thinking it's about 33" . I'm also concerned about how much distance there is between the sliding door to the edge of the flare space bed system and how far I'm going to end up into the door opening using my present layout. I'm hoping to fit in a Dometic porta-potti and use that as a step-up into the bed. I addition to still fit in a narrow cabinate (18" wide) with a 15"×15" sink, partly mounted into the doorstep. Your video is very helpful because I am waiting for my transit 148 mid roof delivery and have been pre-ordering everything I can to get started on my conversion framing out everything using 80/20 15series.
Congratulations on your shop expansion. Your last van build was a Promaster, now you're in a Transit. Which one do you prefer? I know the Promaster is front wheel drive and the Transit is rear wheel drive. I would think the Transit would have better weight distribution?
I'm binging your new build videos today while working....shhhhh. So sorry for jumping around the vids with questions. I was wondering how you are purchasing your vans to build out? I posed the question in a Vanheer video and no one had heard of this issue. I've been having trouble locating a decent van low enough to pay all cash. So I decided to flip it and finance the van since I have a car payment already that I'm comfortable with (sort of lol). Then use my cash for the build ($15K build budget). However, while trying to do this I encountered a small finance hiccup....$5 -10K down payment required by most lenders due to the vans being commercial vehicles, even though it's for personal use!!!! TF!!!! I was like ummmm that's my build money if I give you all of that I just have an empty van....grrrrr!!!! Has anyone else encountered this? No one really talks about how they actually paid for their van on what they paid.
As far as insurance goes. I use USAA. Other insurance companies won’t cover a commercial vehicle as a personal. I recently ordered another transit and had to put $5K down. There’s such a high demand for vans and such low supply now. It’s pretty crazy
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds I did not know that about the insurance. But it makes sense as the lenders are financing as a commercial vehicle....I wonder if you could get around that huge down payment by using an LLC?
Looking good, and looking forward to the fun. Did you look into the leaking issues with this model of van? I remember looking into it some ways back, and finding out that it's a very fixable problem. It's not a design problem, but sloppy seals on some of the vans. What we in Germany call the "Monday models". If you reapply sealant to the bolts(?) by the roof you should be golden. I don't remember the specifics, only that the issue was fixable. I'm sure if you Google for leaking roof on Ford transits you'll strike gold in no time.
I have one of those slider windows from cr Laurence. When I'm in a really heavy downpour driving around or parked on a slant it drips water inside. Have you ever dealt with that? Sitting on flat ground it doesn't leak.
I didn’t Install these but it just rained yesterday and I did notice a leak. I’m bringing it to the person who installed it tomorrow. So you’re not alone!!
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds cool if you figure it out I'm sure many of us would like to know. I feel like it has something to do with the inner track and the slots for it to drain water on the outside. I can't find out how to fix it.
@@winterfern4881 so I brought it back to the guys who installed the flarespace. They had to take the whole thing off and reapply the adhesive/ sealant with a thicker bead. They just didn’t put enough on the first time

Being 6'4 I've been eyeing those flare spaces. That or windows that may be as big as a flare spaces but I'm worried I may kick them out in my sleep? Lol.. Or both? Your thoughts?
Congratulations on your new shop I’m sure it will be well used
Ohh ya!!
I'm happy to see you back. In the meanwhile I converted my Chevy Express...is not a big thing but hey! It's my van 🙂

Thanks for the mid-roof build, which is what I want. Most of the videos are for the high roof model.
I'm not in a place where I can embark on a van build quite yet. But when I get there, I'll be ready thanks to these videos! Awesome job, Colton!
I believe in you!
I Love to see the Ford build out. Much easier for nationwide service. Prefer to see AWD High Roof version, but maybe your next van!
That will be my next van!! I should be starting that in November!
THE BEST!!
Thanks Danny !!
Great vid very useful

Glad you’re doing a Transit! Looking forward to future videos.

For someone without access to a shop/garage, do you have any recommendations on where you can build your van?
If there’s a will there’s a way my friend! You can work outside, get some saw horses, shop Craigslist for some basic tools, take your time with it!
