Holy sh-t! That opening jam was one for the ages! WOW! Dave, you continue to amaze! I own two Vintage V100s and they are superb guitars. Both have been played live for years and continue to impress me!
This looks like an ambient players dream, would love to give this a go drowned in delay and reverb with just a touch of stereo chores, thanks Dave great playing as always.
There are 4 pickups that can be in one of 2 states (on or off) so there are 2^4=16 pickup combinations. Excluding the one in which they are all off (I.e. no sound) this leaves us with 15 combinations. Multiplying that with the 5 vari-tone positions gives us a total of 75 different sounds! Quite a handful
That's too many decisions for a guitar player to make. There should be a government body that mandates which combination is to be used for any given song or mood.
What a fantastic looking guitar Dave. I have never liked Jaguar style guitars, because of the floating tremolo and the bridge design. This guitar however has a rolling bridge and a great variation of tones. It would be a versatile guitar for people who have only the one guitar. I think you will be purchasing one of these guitars Dave. Great intro solo as usual. 👍👍👍
Love eccentric guitars like this. The versatility seems great too. Going to the link, I do now covet that orange one in the pic, which is an altogether different beast to your review model, but still. Thanks for the review and have a great weekend! Les
I told you Vintage was making great guitars these days. EVERY major guitar company, including Gibson and Fender have had their "off" years. After bad mouthing Vintage for as long as you have, I'm surprised they sent you one- but I'm glad they did! The V100 HB I purchased last year is perfect. I think they set the PU on/off switches low so they would be harder to accidently hit when strumming hard. I wish the ones on my Fender 60's Jag were like that. That guitar looks like the guitars I grew up with in the 60s. Love it! Aloha and rock on, Dave! 🤙👍
This sounds AMAZING. But the thing is, and not saying this as flattery, your playing is so good that you make almost anything sound amazing. It's very nice to see Vintage getting back on track. I got one of their instruments and I'm super satisfied.
Dave, the day after you demo’d the Revelation Quad I went out and tried and bought one. And now you’re doing it to me again…. When I saw the thumbnail I thought the ‘Revo’ was just your abbreviation of Revelation! Very nice guitar, great intro jam too!
So, the way I math it you get 5 vari-tone options per pickup combo. Then you have the individual pickup combinations which is: 1- Bridge 2- bridge/middle 3-neck/middle 4-neck 5-all on 6- bridge w/ bm 7-bridhe w/nm 8-bridge w/ neck 9-bridge w/ neck and nm 10- bridge with neck and bm 11-bridge with bm and nm 12-bridge middle with neck middle 13- bridge middle with neck 14- bridge middle with neck and neck middle 15-neck middle with neck so, 5 x 16 gives us a total of (I think) 75 tones overall.
Late to the party with this video. You look like you’re having so much fun with this guitar. The music is flowing from you, probably some of your best yet. (Adopts Wayne’s World We’re Not Worthy pose.)
The guitar is a nice alternative to alternative style guitars. It will be interesting to see if Vintage listen to your matching headstock and switch height suggestions. A bound headstock to match the body perhaps. Also to see what colour options there will be.. I greatly enjoyed this review… I don’t need another guitar… But want and need are two different things…
I'm very curious about the Filtertron model, esp. in green which looks curiously like the green Revelation RJT but can't find anything about it. It might be my ideal guitar.
It looks great. My favourite part is the slide switches, so one can get any combination without head scratching. That's like a Fender BassVI - why has no one else used that system?
Oh yeh Dave! No messing, just straight in, piggin awesome my friend. FOUR pups? that is crazy but who cares it is what it is! its a Jaguar but its more in its own crazy way. Roller bridge is a great touch they mellow the tone over a standard bridge. Just woner if the pups have a bit of a shallow range? Just my ear and struggle with 3 pups tone adjustment wise but 4!! Great review Dave and it is a great guitar. I was once, pretty good at math but am now retired so stopped myself :)
love the look of these too. I just needed to check something as it said 'vintage' haha. Nothing I'd knock with what i've seen on demos though, i might put some skirt knobs on it though to complete the look for me. I like that the switches are recessed. I had a Bass VI that you'd always switched the pickups off when playing as they stuck out. I flipped the panel so they at least don't turn off the whole guitar by accident but i think this is better - a bit hard to change quickly maybe though. When i made a custom one i just put them 90 degrees rotated hah best solution.
I may have miscounted but I think it has 75 separate tones, 4x1 6x2 4x3 and all four, that makes 15 variations, multiplied by 5x varitones, that’s 75. I’m not exactly a mathematician so I may have missed something. You never disappoint.
Anything with switches for each pickup immediately reminds me of a Brian May guitar, and I just want to screw around with the different pickup settings for ages.
I am waiting on a Bass VI, some sort of production problem is claimed. The tilted waist has me thinking surfy Dick Dale tones and stuff. I have not yet seen the guitar but it is exerting its influence. 🎸
Agreed about headstock paint job. Is this the one that comes in 4 single coil, 3 single coil, 2 double coil or 2 P90s? Or am I thinking of another one? psst: and for another 4 switches for in/out phase it is getting pretty close to Queen BM territory or so it seems
Just wondering how it sounds when the volume is rolled back...treble bleed? And I agree about the black headstock...that would have been much better. You played it pretty hard and it seemed to stay in tune, too.
You seem to have a lack of space to dance around while playing. Amazing sound and playing. I really like it. The neck pickups are my favourites. So fat! Maybe replace the bridge pickups with humbuckers?
Ordered mine today!! cant wait to get it. I am changing the guard to black though. please tell me how to get the tone at 18:35 !!! Holy BB!! He speaks through those pickups! also hear a Mr Green echoing in the distance!
@@flamey70 I got really lucky my order arrived with the black guard. I spoke to Vintage and they said there were less than a handful made with a black guard and they don't make the black guards. so I was so happy when I received a rare black guard one. honestly it's a truly awesome guitar especially with the 2 centre pickups on by themselves. I put 11-52's on it too 😎👍
Man, I've reached the point of hearing you play and having no idea if any piece of gear be good or not 🤷🏻♂️ You just could make a broom sound amazing That said that guitar looks perfect. Also expensive, that's why's I won't visit the store... rather stay happy 😊
I think it's either 80 or 100. Not in between! Whenever I see something like this I tend to think "how relevant is that much fine nuance really worth?" You mentioned options paralysis and I actually just feel like it would be splitting hairs and then claiming that you need to split them again and again. But, this thing would be a killer 4th or 5th guitar to have around for extreme noodling and recording.
Could anyone tell me where I can buy it? Because I couldn't find anything about this beauty, or will it be released this year? I really need to get this guitar.
🌊 "Ay Carumba" 💦 What's that X4 pick-ups, + 5 way varitone = 75 🎸 tones...🥳 And then there's a tone & volume control & 🔌an amp & throw in a few🎛️ pedals { looper & my SL-2 Slicer💥🤯💫...🪅💢🎵🎶🔊🪅🪖😱...😃
Hi Dave, I`m enquiring for a mate that`s mad into Surf guitar tones, what`s the price ticket on that model?, and who`s distributing them in the U.K?, Thanks. Frank. 😎🎸
Just like a Jazzmaster. Good guitar playing Big Dave. Bitchin as usual 👍💯✌️✌️. My guess would be 5 x 4x 4. Equals. 80. Combinations. But im not a mathematics wizard 😂
Great to see Vintage getting it's act together again. If Dave's impressed we should all be. Amazing playing.
So melodic. I dig the way you hit all the changes.
Do you mean stereo Chorus ?????
I love doing chores in stereo!
I imagine it as a background guitar so the learned can wonder what is going on behind the vocals in for example, Paint it Black
There are 4 pickups that can be in one of 2 states (on or off) so there are 2^4=16 pickup combinations. Wow. Beautiful playing David.
Exquisite sounds love the axe and the new direction of your own music!👍🙂🎸

Wow this is an awesome guitar! Nice demo Dave
I'm going to study that intro for months. Wow, what playing. What a guitar, too.
Great guitar grate player. Thanks. From Darrell in Hawaii.
Nice guitar playing-sounds great!
Holy smokes, music was with you that day, what an intro!
Love eccentric guitars like this. The versatility seems great too. Going to the link, I do now covet that orange one in the pic, which is an altogether different beast to your review model, but still. Thanks for the review and have a great weekend! Les
sounds totally fantastic thank you Dave!
Now that's a cool looking guitar and great tone options too😮😎
Awesome song and playing, Dave! 🤓😁

That looks bonkers! May have to pick one up because it’s beautiful and sounds flexible as hell.
Ok. That looks and sounds absolutely breathe taking
Quite reminiscent of the Revelation RJT Quad, as you said.
Still loving my Quad.
Just seen these, they look and sound breathtaking,I have an old vintage v100 and even then the quality was spot on ,I’m gonna get one of these !!!
This sounds AMAZING. But the thing is, and not saying this as flattery, your playing is so good that you make almost anything sound amazing. It's very nice to see Vintage getting back on track. I got one of their instruments and I'm super satisfied.
You make me want to buy, thank Dave can't wait for this to hit the shops and you are a true artist
just got my 1st jazzmaster im in love with it
Kinnell Dave, She's a thing of beauty!!! Top Man, thank you!!!
Very Cool, Thankyou. Intro is Greatest "Surf Tune" ever. I'd say ... "ShedLoads of separate tones". All the best. Cheers
Once again Dave you play with that ambient feel that you relax, drink a nice cup of tea or coffee and ponder what the day will bring
Awesome vid, beauty guitar💖🎶👌🙏👍
Drifty ambient loveliness x

Yes I have to get one too now.
So, the way I math it you get 5 vari-tone options per pickup combo. Then you have the individual pickup combinations which is:

2- bridge/middle
3-neck/middle
4-neck
5-all on

9-bridge w/ neck and nm
10- bridge with neck and bm
11-bridge with bm and nm
12-bridge middle with neck middle
13- bridge middle with neck
14- bridge middle with neck and neck middle
15-neck middle with neck
so, 5 x 16 gives us a total of (I think) 75 tones overall.
This whole range looks pretty awesome. It's nice to see some guitars that are a bit different that i can actually afford.
Its great to see Vintage become adventurous again.
Indeed.
Very cool axe! Great playing as well.
Very cool guitar and with an interesting pickup configuration. Sounds great!👌🏼
Impressive sound

u have great feel buddy 🤟😎🎸
super cool guitar, with the double binding and f hole it seems to have some charvel/jackson surfcaster dna as well in there
What an intro!
You could make a string on a broom handle sound fab Dave.
I love it!!! Only thing is I can't find it anywhere online though.
Dear god dave ! You can plaaaaaaaaay bro 👍👍

Yup, I want one!! Damn you Simpson! 🤣🤣
If it lets you play like that...get one! 🔥🎸
Oh yeah !! Sweet Axe !!
Dammit, I'd just persuaded myself that I didn't need one and I find this!
I don't know what Inwas expecting the pairing of the two innermost pickups to sound like.. but they sound awesome!
Surf's up 🏄
No matter the guitar you get great tunes out if it
Just checked their website out, had no idea they had a Mustang style either. I've ways had a thing for offsets fender or otherwise. This looks decent.

You have 20C4 combinations. 4845 combinations. In other words, close to 5000. Thanks Dave.
High speed bluesy surf music: now I've heard it all. :D

how about supro guitars and what do you think of the 2019 gibson standard, the dip switch gibson lots of tones wht a tone king, ooooo, tone king
I guessed right but I am on a diet so no biscuit for me. Can I just have a wave. Surf/wave. It was funnier in my head.
Jazz master/Jaguar? What IS this guitar?
Guitarist is from another galaxy
There's some Doobie bros tones going on there Dave.. And i can imagine some Jimi songs would sound pretty close on it..
Vintage getting their mojo back it seems. Austin Powers will be jealous, groovy/good gravy Baby!
You seem to have a lack of space to dance around while playing.

Hi 😊👋
WELL, NOT AVAILABLE ON WEBSITE ANYMORE
Could anyone tell me where I can buy it? Because I couldn't find anything about this beauty, or will it be released this year?
I really need to get this guitar.
When are these available, they are not even available on the Vintage website, I had my eye on the Guild Surfmaster deluxe but now I am stuck!!
Keep an eye. :)
Thanks Dave, I meant The Guild Surfliner Deluxe (not Surfmaster) @@thedavesimpson
Hi Dave
Cannot find. Distributor for this guitar
Are the pick-ups single coils? And when you combine 2 do they become humbucking??? Thanks for the great demo!
They are single coils yes. As for humbucking i’m not sure.
