I'm glad you've enjoyed it. This is why I wanted to record this series.
I'm not entirely sure as to whether or not I'm good to do these readings and am hoping to somehow get a response from Perkins that this is ok. Otherwise, my future videos in this series will probably be narratives written by me around a grouping of these articles and their aggregate wisdom on specific subjects EG. character creation advice, combat advice, etc...

@@FamiliarEvils I'll share some feedback/insight as a new subscriber and the road that led me to your video.
I've been into D&D now 6 years. I couldn't care much about history, but for some reason I've engrained myself in the history of the Forgotten Realms. I've DM'd 6+ campaigns (played in 5 campaigns), regularly hosting and rallying audiences to the living room table.
But the dilemma I'm facing with D&D is I want to know more history about the Forgotten Realms. I've scanned so many sourcebooks and adventures but the lore of the Forgotten Realms is so dispersed. Jorphan's RUclips Channel has been excellent to learn more every day as I drive to work, but I'm also looking for inspiration and 'what it'd look like' information about different places. Particularly the cities, settings, and adventures, understanding what differences exist between economies, cultures (how not to look like a tourist when visiting a region), crime, and religious influence. And not just in the Material Plane but also in the Feywild, Shadowfell, Nine Hells, etc.
But again, emphasizing 'what it'd look like' as you answered in some detail with the ship and the dragonborn wizards and possibly reasons why the ship would be destroyed to begin with. All of that.
Huge ramble here, but I hope my comment contributes towards your understanding of the headspace of some of your subscribers (presumably I'm not alone).
All the best and I'll see you in your next video!

@@ColinMacInnis All of that is absolutely true. I've spent a great deal of time looking into Forgotten Realms lore, but still have barely scratched the surface. I've gotten into some of the novels over the years, checked out the Wiki, gone into some old edition materials etc... and it's just so much. I once started on a Sword Coast file where I was detailing out regions and towns, what was in them, who they were, the kinds of NPCs there and what their personalities were like, what games they might play, etc... but I just never got back to it, and this was before I really started taking this channel seriously.
I want to make sure however this reading isn't mistaken as my writing 😅. This is all from an article series by Chris Perkins, and I've simply been relaying it in an audio format because I think for one the articles are obscure and shouldn't be, and two that most people don't have the time to sit down and read all these articles and they like you would be better served listening to them on a car ride than pulling up an old PDF off an obscure website.
I'll definitely take this all in to consideration for some videos. I've been working diligently at world building for my own homebrew world, and I would love to eventually give some insights as to what I was thinking about when making it, because I'm a sucker for geo politics and how geography effects the growth of civilization. Spent a lot of time working on plate tectonics and climate, but I still have a lot to learn and hopefully I can bring all I've learned to you all in a helpful manner at some point.
