    Once I found Polymaker ASA I stopped trying other filaments it worked so well for me. Glad to see them continuing to release new products. Eventually I will try something stronger than plain ASA, but for now Polymaker has made my 3d printing experience as good as it can be. I only do functional parts, so I love this kind of stuff.

    A quick question about the PPS-CF. As hard and brittle as it is, I was thinking that it might feed easier if warmed in the Bowden tube or other feed path. I looked on the Fiberon site and couldn’t find anything about preheating the material. Do you foresee any problems that may arise by heating the filament on its way to being extruded? Thanks for the video and taking the time go reply to these comments

    • @EDGEOF3D
      @EDGEOF3D  27 дней назад

      I've actually not had any issues with it feeding at room temperatures.
      However, with that being said, I'm testing 2 inline filament driers/heaters that can heat to 195° and have not seen a difference in how it feeds but have seem a difference in the prints, I've had to lower my nozzle temps to keep from overheating the filament and causing stringing. As well as being careful how hot to heat different filaments to keep them from becoming too soft and pulling into in the boden or not feeding.

I have a Creality CR-10S with a few upgrades including the Micro Swiss all metal hotend and an enclosure. I have been able to successfully print with PLA, PETG, and even PC -CF. Only problems I have ever had are the first layers adhesion. Is there a smooth or textured sheet you would recommend? Especially for these higher temperatures like the PC-CF or the PPS-CF10? Thanks again. Looking forward to more of your content.

    • @EDGEOF3D
      @EDGEOF3D  2 месяца назад

      I've printed on smooth and textured with no problems, however, with that being said, I apply FrankAF's home brew bed adhesion/release to every printer, every print (or when it starts to wear off anyway). goo.by.frank.af/
      I hear all the time that if I knew how to tune my printer, level my bed, set my offset.......... Rubbish, I have spent a lot of time in commercial 3D printing operations and every single one of them uses something. One failed print or one destroyed print bed because the part wouldn't release, it's more than paid for a lifetime supply of this stuff.

The hot end itself is only half of it, the firmware on the printer needs to support the higher temperatures too. There are a number of ways you could trick it but you won’t get accurate temperature control then and the read temperature will be wrong.

      @@EDGEOF3D Yeah, I hear that. It's not a personal criticism, we're all learning throughout life. And I don't think a minor event or nuisance impacts channel growth much. IDK, i'm just a passing viewer.
      If I were you, I would consider trying to re-upload it or a new video with similar title; you get to a:b test viewership. See which one impacts views or trending for reference. Could reply to commeters just to check out the new vid candidly, instead instead of hearing the same thing over and over. Receiving that kind of feedback repeatedly would be kind of irritating to me, personally. I'd rather do something about it to shut them up, instead of just enduring.

      PPS CF filament isn't really intended for hobbyists. It's for shops making jigs or functional tools/parts. Very few hobbyist 3d printing people would need it. The PET CF is fairly reasonably priced for what it is.

      If you can’t afford engineering materials you can always stick to printing PLA spinners, dragons and that kind of trinkets most people print these days. 🤷🏾‍♂️ This materials are designed for very specific areas and use cases, they of course carry a premium price, usually functional prototypes and final use parts for industries, not really hobby-level stuff.

    Wouldve been nice to have some performance testing other than "it goes ping when i flick it". Nice party trick, but does it offer any real life advantages? The filament snapping by barely touching it is a bit worrisome for example.

    • @EDGEOF3D
      @EDGEOF3D  3 месяца назад

      There will be testing, we all just received the samples a short time ago and have had no time to do any testing with it. I never made any claims to any sort of strength or durability in my video, I was simply introducing the line.

    • @mjodr
      @mjodr 3 месяца назад +1

      I've seen a lot of engineering grade filaments do that. At a certain point I think it's just a price you have to pay to get the extra properties. As long as you account for it you should be OK. Some people have run a lot of spools with brittleness like that through their machines once they figured it out.

    polyphenylene sulfide belongs to the family of PAEKS, such as PEEK. it is a strong, very brittle polyner with strength similar or close to PEEK . the virgin polymer itself sounds like metal as it is inherent to this polymer, the CF only adds stiffness and probably strength.

    • @lucianoag999
      @lucianoag999 2 месяца назад

      Nope, it is not. PPS has either ether nor ketone groups. It only has aryl groups like PAEK.

    • @lucianoag999
      @lucianoag999 2 месяца назад

      But I agree. The sounds comes from the polymer. 10 CF doesn’t affect much. The reason for the metallic sound is the low density and low loss modulus. Not the just 4 GPa of elastic modulus. (Al 70 GPa, Steel 210 GPa, Ti ~150 GPa).

    • @naminiyo1
      @naminiyo1 2 месяца назад

      @@lucianoag999 true, my mistake. ;) i tried to summarise something complex into sonething, which ultimately is wrong. polyphenylene sulfide, which only contains the sulfur atom to link the phenylenes, has similar crystal structure, with similar bond lengths, and similar phenyl angles, compared to PAEKs, but yes i does not belong.
