- This video portrays the history and events surrounding Dol Guldur, a fortress located in the forests of Greenwood in the fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien.
The fortress was originally known as Amon Lanc and was the capital of the Woodland Realm, but it was taken over by an evil presence known as the Necromancer.
Some believed that the Necromancer could be one of the Nazgul, but Gandalf thought it may be Sauron, the enemy who had returned to Middle-earth after being defeated in the War of the Last Alliance.
The Necromancer fled from Dol Guldur after an encounter with Gandalf, but returned to the fortress after a period of four centuries known as the Watchful Peace. Dol Guldur's shadow and the darkness brought the forest surrounding to wither and become a place of dread.
Gandalf later confirmed that the Necromancer was indeed Sauron who was eventually forced to retreat from the Haunted Hill after the White Council led by Saruman attacked the fortress. Soon he sent the Nazgul to reoccupy the fortress and rebuild it as a stronghold of darkness for the War of the Ring.
During the War of the Ring, the forces of Dol Guldur launched a devastating assault on the northern lands, including the enchanted forest of Lothlorien and the realm of Thranduil in Mirkwood. The Elves of Lothlórien and Mirkwood fought bravely against the orcs, but the influence and strength of Galadriel were key factors in the eventual defeat of Dol Guldur and the end of Sauron's reign of darkness in the north.

This is like the History Channel but for Middle Earth. I love it!
That was the original idea 😁
If it fits I sits. -Sauron in Mirkwood
hilarious:)
Funny because the prototype or precursor Sauron-figure for the early Silmarillion was a giant monstrous cat named Tevildo the Prince of Cats. 😂😂
I have a suspicion your channel is gonna grow fast. Well done man!
I wish!
@@TalesoftheRingshi
@@TalesoftheRingsquality content but unfortunately that's how it goes. You'd have more luck with followers if you made asmr mouth sounds.😢
I love how many Dark Souls clips you put in this video.
Makes me feel more at home, being myself barely aware of the depth of Lotr's lore
Another excellent video. The visuals combined with the story-telling are exceptional! I particularly liked the focus on the battles in Mirkwood and Lothlórien from the War of the Ring.
Thank you 🙏 Seems you've come to the end of the road for now.
Absolutely fantastic. Amazing effort!
Many thanks!
I love how you use parts of Phil's audiobooks
I love it!
I love how Galadriel is silent but deadly. She is the great Elven fart. In RoP, they show her as just a warrior, when in reality she's as powerful as any Maiar.
Your video’s are amazing!! The narration and visuals are outstanding. Just a suggestion, but I would love to see some longer form content. I would watch beginning to end!!
I really really appreciate. It's fantastic and so different!
Happy to hear that!
GREAT VIDEO MAN THAT'S SOOO AWESOME, I really loved the music choice in this video, waiting for your next silmarillion chronology video.
Glad you liked it!
Amazingly done! These 'history lessons' of Middle-earth are not to be missed
Wohoo
Love the integration of the dark souls cinematics , quite fitting
Excellent work. ❤️
Thank you my king!
I was just thinking I would like more info on this subject like two days ago
Here it is 😁
I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into these! As usual, excellent work!
Thanks for the kind words and of course for letting me use your masterpiece! Your clip is the basis of the video.
The best one so far!!! Keep it up 🔥
Thanks man
This is excellent - love the illustrations and the narrative. Subbed :)
Keep up the amazing work this Chanel honestly needs more subs and views it became one of My fav LOTR channels
Thanks man
Absolutely love the realistic documentary feel! Have you done any Downfall of Númenor yet? Those would be AMAZING
Hey there! I'm glad you like it 😁 That was the original idea - to present Middle-earth's events as if they really happened! I haven't done it yet, but if you like this type of thing, just wait to see the next one.
I love it, it would be nice if details were fleshed out, more map detail and history from previous ages. none the less looks fantastic and really enjoyed it.
Although I initially aimed to provide something innovative and original, I must admit that incorporating additional maps is a simpler solution that I am more than willing to accept.
Beautiful video! Where did all those video game-y shots come from? Especially the one at 4:25 interests me!
Thanks, that part is mashup of many videos and images, Sauron is from BFME Reforged... Artists are included in the credits list so i suggest you to check it 😁
This is awesome! I like the TV documentary style. Needs more maps though. Maps for battles are awesome.
Thank you for your response! I appreciate hearing your thoughts. Using map can certainly make it easier to cover a large portion of text quickly and much simpler for me. Although many channels use it, I personally haven't utilized it much in my work. However, after hearing your and few others positive experience with it, I will definitely consider incorporating it in my future work. By the way, I even created banners and small armies on a 3D satellite Middle-earth map, but I didn't end up using them 😄
@@TalesoftheRings Sounds fun. I will be looking forward to how your video style evolves.
These are truly remakable. Keep up the Great work.
Thanks, will do!
@@TalesoftheRings I’m a fan
All the compliments have already been given, but i would still like to say how enjoyable it is in every way to watch your videos ❤
Wow, thank you!
This is bad ass, what a great idea for a chanel
Thanks!!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
I've just got to say, thank you. I've only recently come across your channel and, have to say, of all LOTR related channels on here, you're surpasses them all.
Are you indeed Phil Dragash of the famous audiobook series? The passage with Gandalf spoken here certainly sounds like you are🤔
Welcome aboard! Hey it is Phil's voice, but he gave me permission to use it 😁
@@TalesoftheRings Yes, I noticed on the credits at the end after watching it through again!
Watched all the videos through yesterday and just have the most recent to watch. Truly fantastic work. Thank you so much for bringing it all so perfectly to life!
Can't wait for more!
Bravo!!!
Hvala!
Great content. Subbed
Welcome aboard!

New sub here 😊 amazing work ❤️❤️
Thanks 🙏
I found a treasure chest!❤
@Asmongold TV needs to see this
Will we get a new video in the coming week?
No sadly, I've been very busy on my work :(
Btw How far is the next silmarillion video?
I'm considering Realms of Beleriand to be the next one
@@TalesoftheRings oh that sounds cool, so is it far?
@@farahahmed8201 0% 🤣
@@TalesoftheRings sorry didn't got what that means lol
Phil Dragash is the lord of the rings.
Legend!!
subbed because I saw this one vid. so please let there not be any rings of power bullshit on this channel too
I didn't even bother to finish the damn thing 🤣
Bjhuydrew.
Well Done, but please stop the overwrought pronunciations. Tolkien didn't roll the R's.
Yes, he did ruclips.net/video/mVACqgDqLno/видео.html
In all of his extensive notes on pronunciation of Sindarin and Quenya he always mentions the trilled R.
