It's perfectly ok to say a particular style of song isn't for you. I admire your honesty J, other reactors should take note. There's no denying she can sing, and it's a simple but beautiful harmony. Some will love this , while others won't. That's music
My friend Joel took pride in not having seen Top Gun. I followed his lead. Never saw Titanic, Jurassic Park or Lion King. Turns out not seeing movies is as much a conversation starter as seeing them. One really doesn't need to see blockbusters, media will fill you in.
@@joshuapeterson6072 Generally, the bigger the blockbuster the more likely I won't see it since general audiences have horrific taste in movies but Top Gun is a must, especially with the sequel coming out in a couple of months. I see, maybe, one movie a year in the theatres (two in a big year) and I'm looking forward to Top Gun II in the theatre. If the first movie happens to be released in the theatre as a lead up you should see it on the big screen.
Totally different genre, but another legend who broke out in 80s, and unique/no one else like her, should listen it Anita Baker. Amazing voice and songs
Amber....I love you and Jordan, Top Gun is about naval pilots, it's about the friendship between him and Goose, his rival pilots for the Top Gun trophy, it's about Goose's family, it's a love story between him and his Top Gun instructor, which is who the woman in the video is, and it's about what our service members do in defense of our country, and the politics that go with that. I have found if you pay attention, just about every movie, tv show, book, or even song has multiple in levels in or stories in it. I hope this helps expand your perceptions a bit.
Another great Berlin song is The Metro, Also, the song Boys In Town by The Divinyls, and a different one from the same time period, the song I Can't Wait by Nu Shooz.
Oh y’all gotta see the movie! It’s not just a romance, it’s got guy stuff too! AND they’re continuing the movie all these decades later-and yes with a much older, current Tom Cruise still starring - can’t imagine which way they’re gonna go with it! You must see the first one soon- please- 🧡💜🤎✨👍
I love you guys. Watch all day long at work. I love how your girls look like one of each of you. Congratulations on baby Luca, he is beautiful. You can see how much you two love each other, when you look at each other. 💕
Top Gun is a movie you’ll both enjoy. It’s got action, tragedy, the love story, a great mix. Definitely watch it. Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, a bit of Meg Ryan. Also mentioned in the Comments is k d lang, a great Canadian singer. She performed at the closing ceremonies, of the 2010 Olympics, here in Vancouver BC. The song she sang, was Hallelujah, an amazing rendition of a Canadian classic.
The song is the love song for Top Gun. If Jordan wants a great jam from the movie soundtrack , I would recommend Kenny Loggins “Danger zone”. That’s got great guitar!
After all these years, I still love this song. I’m disappointed it wasn’t the official video where it shows the band members. Just seeing the movie clips make it kind of lame.
My favorite quote from the "Top Gun" movie: “Hey, Goose, you big stud! Take me to bed or lose me forever!” See if your coach knows this one. But I repeat other comments: Watch the movie!
If you watch the movie, You Must Give Us A Reaction explaining your feelings about Goose at beginning and end. Keep your tissues nearby , you will need them for many different emotions. Same goes for Officer and a Gentleman.(same era).
Amber and Jay, BOTH of you will love Top Gun. It's one of those movies that has something for any gender to enjoy. It's the perfect balance between masculine and feminine energy. You really do have to see it.
Terri Nunn has an amazing voice. I saw her live and she was awesome. I would definitely suggest "The Metro," "Masquerade," "No More Words," and "Sex" by Berlin. All great tunes.
This is a great song. It even won an Oscar award for Best Original song for Top Gun. Maybe try The Metro or No More Words both by Berlin if this was too slow for yall. There is another version with her singing the song on and around an airplane that is better than the movie clip version. Top Gun has a love story wrapped around the pilot training with some great fighter plane scenes. Berlin is a group.
I was in the army when this movie came out. Music forms a strong part of my identity and this song is right up there regarding my youth. Berlin was a one-hit-wonder band.
We had a little snack place not far from the barracks we were allowed to hang out at. It had a jukebox and April Wine, Just Between You and Me, just came out. We wore that 45 out.
Y’all have picked some great artists. I’d like to agree that Sade would be a good choice (“Cherish the Day” or “Sweetest Taboo”). Also, Anita Baker (“Giving You The Beat That I’ve Got”) or Lisa Fischer (“How Can I Ease The Pain”). Keep up the good job. It’s always enjoyable seeing people react to great music, and both of your reactions are always joyful to watch.
I don’t know about other people, but something about this song just makes me picture flying through the air and all the amazing things about the movie.
Ah, Berlin!! This tune is an example of the slower side of the band; most of their songs are not balladlike at all... The first song I heard from Berlin wax *"Sex (I'm A..)"* --adding that SAS as you might assume created a stir and some controversy when it cane out. Following this were four of my faves: *"Masquerade"* *"On The Metro"* *"No More Words"* *"Tell Me Why"* Berlin has a lot more out there, these are just the ones I like the best... The two songs from female acts that come to my brain are : *"Mandinka"* by Sinead O'Connor *"I Want Candy"* by Bow Wow Wow Oh wait, one more: *"Buffalo Stance"* by Neneh Cherry (her brother Eagle Eye Cherry did that song "Save Tonight"* ) Thanks S.W
@Kerryn Simmons, They have reacted to The Cranberries, but only to *Zombie* they have yet to sample the joys of *Dreams* or their wonderful cover of Fleetwood Mac's *Go Your Own Way* much less *Linger* but hopefully they will before long because as we know Jay & Amber will love them all the more as they do☺
@@steveweller3899 I’m a new subscriber after I saw their reaction to John Denver. Going through the catalogue now getting a sense of what they may like.
I've always thought this was a beautiful song. As for Top Gun, the love story is one aspect of it, but there's more to it. It's more the personal journey of the main character (Maverick, played by Tom Cruise). A very good film that I highly recommend. My song recommendation this time will be another on from Top Gun, this time one that I think will be more up Jordan's alley. "Danger Zone," by Kenny Loggins. I think you'll like that one.
I like this song in a slow playlist to listen before going to bed. Back in the day, I would listen it on the late night ballads/soft rock/soft pop radio shows.
The best song from this film was 'Danger Zone' by Kenny Loggins. Loved Amber's comments on Tom here! The pre scientology Tom Cruise is a different creature than post scientology Tom - pretty much around the time this film came out he was being converted. He was a huge deal from Risky Business on... handsome, charming and back then he actually seemed like a sweet and somewhat humble guy. I think to understand why he was such a big deal, you need to not only consider his earlier roles, but that personality wise, he was projecting a sweet and positive energy about him. I was a tween but liked Tom when he first rose to fame. I have not liked Tom in a very long time.
These movie videos are basically for fans of the movie to relive some of the moments. Without the context, it's just a bunch of meaningless random scenes, in which case the official video would have been better. You could have seen the band, etc.
I still would love to see you react to Maria McKee-either solo (Show Me Heaven) or with Lone Justice (Sweet,Sweet Baby). She was discovered by Linda Rondstadt, and Dolly Parton has said she is the best female front for a band she has ever seen. She has a lot of great songs, but these are good intros.
Wow. I’m always asking reactors to check out Maria McKee - one of my all time favourite artists - I’ve never seen anyone else mention her and now there’s two references to her on this video. I’ve seen footage of Maria’s live performances from both the Lone Justice days and her solo work - amazing. Would love to have seen her live.

Curious if you two have explored 90's Trip Hop . Had a suggestion for Female Fridays. check out Portishead - Roads (Roseland NYC) (HQ). Thank you for sharing your light in these times.
I am sure I am far from the only one, but because of Top Gun I spent 22 yrs in the US Navy, retired as a Chief Petty Officer, the movie is worth it...GREAT action, great love story...Nevr boring!
Another artist you may really enjoy is Keb' Mo'. He has a new one out w/Darius Rucker, and has a great duet live w/Bonnie Raitt (No Getting Over You), but I recommend starting with 'Old Me Better.' It's a FUN song!
Definitely watch movie! You’ll definitely get more emotionally attached to the song. Without the movie it is kind of a generic but beautiful voice love song. I know there’s videos out there with just the scene the song “you lost that loving feeling“ And it’s worth watching too. Love you both. Please get some sleep Amber. Glad you chose to listen to this. This was one Tom Cruise movie that launched him even further into the stratosphere as an actor and is a sex symbol. Before this risky business. Kelly McGillis, the woman in the video was actually his flight instructor and before this she was already considered one of the hottest sought after movie stars, especially by my brothers and most young men. Definitely late 80s and kind of sappy but you won’t regret watching top gun!❤️✌️✌️
This was all over the radio, back when I was a young dude. the original Top Gun film was bigtime. Thanks, guys, for this little reminder of my youth. Still watchin and loving ya from Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Go with God. Peace.
Sadly I saw them in concert when they were hot and they were T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E!!! Not only did they sound awful but they seemed completely disinterested in being there. Since it was a venue that I hadn't been to before (and outdoors as well) at first I thought it was the sound system that was at fault. But they were the opening act for The Thompson Twins and when that band came on they were phenomenal, the sound was great and they were hugely entertaining.....so it was obviously them. Afterwards I heard the same reaction from a few other people who had seen them elsewhere. It's not a bad song but apparently a creation of the studio engineers.
Wow. The one time I saw them back in the day, they sounded great. Yes, some of the production tricks weren't there, but overall they sounded wonderful. Teri Nunn's voice was perfect. Maybe they were having a bad day when you saw them.
Thompson Twins were great live and would stay back and sign autographs. There’s some good footage of their concerts from the early days when they were still a seven piece on RUclips. I only got to see them live when they hit it really big after Hold me now as a three piece.
You may well have caught them on a bad night. Apparently, there was a breakup between Terri Nunn and the male you see in the videos. He was the primary leader and musician, and I’m sorry I can’t recall his name right now. Berlin broke up for several years before reuniting. MTV or VH1 had a series where a guy went around trying to get members of groups back together. Sometimes he was successful, as in the case of Berlin. Sometimes he wasn’t. I’m thinking J. Geils Band was one of the failures, but I could easily be wrong. Does anyone remember who it was?
The soundtrack from this movie is one of my all time favorites. Some great songs - Danger Zone probably my favorite (and the theme song for us defensive backs on my college football team in the mid-late 80s). You are both always so very astute in your observations. I think you nailed it here in terms of song appreciation - the song is inexorably tied to the movie and the plot of the movie and fits perfectly, but without that context, I think it’s hard to “get it.” Whenever this song comes on, everyone I know looks at each other, nods, says “Top Gun,” and comments about how much they love this song as the love song for the romantic part of the movie. The flying action scenes are outstanding, btw. Can’t believe there are people alive who haven’t seen this movie! Lol. Keep up the good work.

It's perfectly ok to say a particular style of song isn't for you. I admire your honesty J, other reactors should take note. There's no denying she can sing, and it's a simple but beautiful harmony. Some will love this , while others won't. That's music
Two people in the same room where at least one hasn't seen Top Gun.......I'd like to know the odds on that.
I haven't seen it....not a Tom Cruise fan :-)
@@susancampbell6186 probably because you haven't been Top Gun lol..Rain Man is phenomenal too!
@@joshuapeterson6072 Movies are more than just for conversations. The thrills of Jurassic Park can't be experienced through words alone.
"I feel the need, the need for speed."
"This ain't good Mav"
Totally different genre, but another legend who broke out in 80s, and unique/no one else like her, should listen it Anita Baker. Amazing voice and songs
Metro
I've just been rediscovering her! I love her songs so much.
great Friday choice or any other day
@@leephillips2837 any day ending in “day” great for AB tunes
I agree her song body and soul is 🔥
Its a beautiful love song. NEvermind anythign else. Just listen and feel
Berlin did many amazing songs. Like Flames. No more words very up beat.
I love the song. Wished you had watched the original video that has the group Berlin actually in in it.
Sade - Smooth Operator, No Ordinary Love & Sweetest Taboo
This is from the movie Top Gun which someone sent to you.
Also from this movie that you should hear is Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins.
Have to add a plus 1 for Til Tuesday, "Voices Carry!" It's an haunting song which a young Aimee Mann performed masterfully.
NENE - 99 Luftballons.......another choice for Female Friday
Some of those movies y'all mentioned....I'm about to load up my DVD's and head your way!
Another great Berlin song is The Metro, Also, the song Boys In Town by The Divinyls, and a different one from the same time period, the song I Can't Wait by Nu Shooz.
U look great Amber!!! That colour looks great on u. U look radiant & happy. Sending love to u & the fam from the Great Southern Land ♥️♥️♥️
This is an awesome song. The official video is powerful. When Top Gun came out in 1986 I think I saw 3-4 times in the theaters
Terri Nunn has one of the most amazing voices, and she's gorgeous.
Berlin was excellent back in the day. So many good songs.
Personally I liked Anthony Edwards character Goose most and Meg Ryan 💗
Great movie. this song was played almost end to end on the radio when the movie was in full run.
The song is the love song for Top Gun. If Jordan wants a great jam from the movie soundtrack , I would recommend Kenny Loggins “Danger zone”. That’s got great guitar!
Well written, delivered perfectly by Berlin. The song appears 4 times in the 1986 movie "Top Gun". I saw it the theaters, great film. Love her voice.
Kenny Loggins also has a song in this soundtrack and is one of the artists in We Are The World you haven't reacted to yet. 😉
Kenny Loggins 👌🏼👌🏼
He has so many great songs!
Berlin and another big one with ‘The Metro’ - that one is 🔥🔥🔥
After all these years, I still love this song.
J&A, Try Quaterflash "Harden My Heart", female singer Rindy Ross has a great voice and plays saxophone!!!
Classic 80's
If you watch the movie, You Must Give Us A Reaction explaining your feelings about Goose at beginning and end. Keep your tissues nearby , you will need them for many different emotions. Same goes for Officer and a Gentleman.(same era).
Kinda spoiler-y.
Beautiful song!
Amber and Jay, BOTH of you will love Top Gun. It's one of those movies that has something for any gender to enjoy. It's the perfect balance between masculine and feminine energy. You really do have to see it.
THE song from "Top Gun" is "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins. It will pump you up. Military enlistments went up after this movie was released.
Terri Nunn has an amazing voice. I saw her live and she was awesome. I would definitely suggest "The Metro," "Masquerade," "No More Words," and "Sex" by Berlin. All great tunes.
I also got to see Berlin Live as well and Terri's voice was amazing as well as the rest of the band. So sad they broke up.
Following this were four of my faves:
*"Masquerade"*
*"On The Metro"*
*"No More Words"*
*"Tell Me Why"*
Berlin has a lot more out there, these are just the ones I like the best...
The two songs from female acts that come to my brain are :
*"Mandinka"* by Sinead O'Connor
*"I Want Candy"* by Bow Wow Wow
Oh wait, one more:
*"Buffalo Stance"* by Neneh Cherry (her brother Eagle Eye Cherry did that song "Save Tonight"* )
Thanks
S.W
Sex I’m A.
Love that song.
Also no more words
Mandinka was my introduction to Sinead - love it so much and her cover of Nothing compares to you. Have they reacted to The Cranberries yet?
@Kerryn Simmons, They have reacted to The Cranberries, but only to *Zombie* they have yet to sample the joys of *Dreams* or their wonderful cover of Fleetwood Mac's *Go Your Own Way* much less *Linger* but hopefully they will before long because as we know Jay & Amber will love them all the more as they do☺
@@steveweller3899 I’m a new subscriber after I saw their reaction to John Denver. Going through the catalogue now getting a sense of what they may like.
One of my favorite songs from the 90's, Thank you!1
I've always thought this was a beautiful song.
Ya'll have to listen to " Immortality "
Celine Dion and the Bee Gees.
Here's the link ruclips.net/video/bZolfKgW5Is/видео.html
No more words is easily their best song and video !
That song sucked! This tune by Berlin and Giorgio Moroder was much better. Danger Zone was a cheesy pop song!
You know love scenes work when you can watch it without sound and you totally know whats going on between the two leads
These movie videos are basically for fans of the movie to relive some of the moments. Without the context, it's just a bunch of meaningless random scenes, in which case the official video would have been better. You could have seen the band, etc.
I think I agree w/Jay on this one. I kept waiting for something more -- that being said, she does have a great voice.
Musically this song is top notch, beautiful and nostalgic
Loved Berlin back in the day, and it was all because of Terri Nunn's voice.
And if you do happen to listen to “Show Me Heaven”, listen to the live Top of the Pops version. It is breathtaking.
The F-15 that Tom Cruise “flew” in Top Gun is sitting on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Lexington at Corpus Christi, Texas
You gotta do KT Tunstall Big black horse and a cherry tree for next female Friday.
Just found your channel... I'm happy I did. It's very rare to find genuinely kind souls on here. Your reactions are so pure and refreshing compared to other music reaction channels.
Curious if you two have explored 90's Trip Hop . Had a suggestion for Female Fridays.
check out Portishead - Roads (Roseland NYC) (HQ).
Thank you for sharing your light in these times.
You need to react to "No More Words" or "Sex I Am..." to get the real flavor of Berlin. Terri Nunn is so good live!
I really like the power she brings to 'Like Flames'.
The Playing For Change video is neat!
Ohhhh I LOVE Keb' Mo' ❣
BERLIN NO MORE WORDS
Welcome aboard! Berlin played at Cal. Poly Pomona back in the late '70s and I they were great!
You guys are spot on in your assessment. I am getting waves of nostalgia, and you just aren't gonna have that unless this movie is in your blood.
Another female artist from the 80s to check out is Kim Wilde (“Kids In America”). Also, Missing Persons (“Words,” “Destination Unknown”)
And for pure 80s fun, try “Mickey” by Toni Basil
