You had me at Berlin. Btw, Terri Nunn REALLY didn't want to do this song because it was SO far from Berlin's genre (Punk/New Wave) she didn't want fans calling them sell outs.
Oddly enough, it brought them a whole new amount of fans.

    • @kutark
      @kutark 2 года назад +6

Crazy too because she has an amazing voice and you can't really express it that sell in the punk genre, new wave moreso.
That being said, their song the metro or metro (can't remember exactly) was really good.

You have that wrong. Terri Nunn wanted to do it and John Crawford hated doing it. When interviewed, Terri said; “Take My Breath Away came along and that was another reason to fight,” Nunn recalls. “John was like ‘That’s not our song, we have our own songs’. I said ‘Who cares? It’s Giorgio Moroder, if he farts, I’ll sing it. I love that guy’. We fought about that, then we fought about the fact we had to play it in concerts, John didn’t like that either." John Crawford and David Diamond have reunited with Terri and are currently touring with her as Berlin. My daughters ex-boyfriend, Carlton Bost, also plays with Berlin on guitar.

Fun fact: They first had The Motels sing this song, but decided later to go with Berlin. Also the beautiful lead singer of Berlin Terry Nunn did an audition with Harrison Ford, to play Princess Leia in Star Wars, but the part went to Carrie Fisher. I think that worked out for the better.

@@raymo6795 Yes, but she doesn’t have that deep commanding voice that Carrie Fisher has, which is better suited for Princess Leia. I saw both their auditions, and it was a no brainer. It’s funny though how Terri Nunn acts like she holds a grudge against Harrison Ford. Ultimately he had a big hand on choosing Princess Leia. So Terri has taken a jabs at Harrison Ford, quite a few times at her shows. It sounds like she’s have joking, but I’m not to sure.

I think this was on the prom stream. This was actually a very slow mellow song for Berlin, made for the movie Top Gun. Very different song and sound for Berlin. Big hit song and movie for a great '80s movie . This song was more of a new wave, post-punk ballad. lol. A good one, though. Also, Terri Nunn (singer) is hot. lol
Yall need to look more into Berlin videos and songs. Like " Sex (I'm a ..)", "The Metro" (Lex will love this one, very upbeat and synth heavy!), "Now It's My Turn", "No More Words", and others. BTW, "No More Words" was also on the Vision Quest movie soundtrack just like Journey's "Only The Young".
Berlin was a post -punk, new wave, dance-punk, synth heavy group from LA, California.. Very nice group during the '80s.. Similar to Missing Persons and The Go-Gos (these groups were also from LA, California, yall should check them out, too). Very fun dance, synth, and punky music
Also, the decade of '80s, '90s, and '00s were all great, too.

Written by Georgio Moroder. In the 1970s, he co wrote or wrote many disco songs. He wrote with late Donna Sommer then. In 1980, GM wrote Call Me 📞 with Debbie Harry. In 1982, he wrote the music 🎶 to Cat People 🐈 while late David Bowie wrote lyrics. GM was on a streak! 😃
Before founding Berlin, Terri Nunn was an actress in small roles. She was in soap operas. 📺 45 years ago🎂, she auditioned for Princess Leia in Star Wars 🌟
    Great 👍 song 🎵
There is a more recent video 📹 in Italy 🇮🇹,
Terri Nunn sang this as Kelly McGillis was watching. They never met each other in Top Gun. ✈ The 25+ year anniversary was the 1st time they met!
The video 📹 may not be available: Kelly McGillis was fat and out of shape. 😳 This may be a major reason.

🤣🤣🤣 lets go Barbie was the late 90s 🤣🤣🤣 but I hear ya' 😂😅I'm glad I brain washed my children into liking the 60s 70s 80s music , they were born in the mid 80s and I was a bit worried for a little while when my eldest son would be washing the dishes with his pants halfway down his legs, going on about eastside westside when he was a teenager, I'd walk behind him pull his pants up and say, "son you live in a small town too small to have two sides" 😳but all good, he seen the light and came back to us. . .

Lex - i wish i had a time machine and i could take you & Brad back into the '80's. 'Cause next - i'd take you two back into the '70's so you could compare. Honestly, notwithstanding the music itself, i think you would like the '70's more. People were cooler in the 70's. Just about everyone was the same - we were all lower middle class. True blue collar families were the norm. House after house, neighborhood after neighborhood, city after city. It wasn't until the 80's that more people's income levels became stratified and we sub-divided by income levels and created multiple class levels. And so people became more status-conscious in the 80's. In short - in the 80's - many people started looking for reasons to dislike each other, whereas in the 70's - most people looked for reasons to like each other. Now at the age of 53 and having lived through both decades, that's my memory of growing up. And at the end of our trip - if you still thought you preferred the 80's - then i'd let you & Brad take the time machine back to the 80's and I'd stay back in the coolest decade of all time. Thanks for letting me ramble on with my fantasy on your platform.

@@Valorius Jody didn’t get the girl - the girl was afraid of a long term commitment due to her poor relationship with her father. She never cheated, she just left a week after I came back

That sucks. I did the same and was lucky that she waited for me. I sent all my money home to her for our wedding and a year later we were hitched. 32 years later, we are as close as ever. My heart bleeds for you, really.

She’s the one who got away if you screwed up and lost her because of the screw up. Sounds to me like you’re her one that got away.
Since this is the internet, I’ll clarify that I’m not trying to say anything bad about her. I’m hoping you can see a different perspective on it.

Watch this movie before the new one comes out. “Top Gun” is a classic. New one looks great too. Tom Cruise wouldnt do a sequel unless it was done right and they actually were in those planes. The actors in the new one had to go through crazy training to even be able to physically do the movie. Check out the Top Gun sequel behind the scenes trailer. Holy shit is it cool…
