Would you recommend using a serger to join the front to the back? Not the darts or quilting, of course.

What are the measurements for the plate cozy please? I am already making bowl cozy but I am keen to make some plate cosies too. Thank you.

I don't have 13 1/2 squares I have 12x12 when I did the 3"x0.5 for the dart it was too big any suggestions

I had already cut 12x12 too. At first I tried 0.5" up / 3.0" over.. it did make it flatter but only my salad plate or larger bowl fit well. That's why we need larger squares if we want a plate cozy. So, I practiced by increasing the pleat on the 12x12 to 3/4" up by 3.0" over. It made the bowl size smaller. So I going with that to use up my 12x12 fabric squares.
For smaller bowl sizes, I'm using my 10x10 and 11x11 squares. Pleats are 1" up by 2" over. They're turning out well.
