like your other review on the Speed line, this video is excellent. Great content - keep up the great work! Sets the standard for racket reviews. And appreciate the commentary about if it's worth it on the upgrade to 2024 for Boom!
Elephant in the room is wide head, with sweet spot at tip of head. This is why serves were faster with Boom. This is why it takes time to adjust to overshots, maybe. Please add more details and thoughts on this subject. PS Loved scientific approach to tests. Gone watching other Head reviews of yours - need to pick a replacement for my Agassi's Radical 🙈
Hi Ashley. Thanks so much for Boom and Speed videos, provide so much information with detail numbers. I am at the stage to find next racquets for my son, currently he is using 2022 Head Boom team and I am thinking to get Head Speed MPL for him soon. Your videos help.
What’s your opinion on using the lynx tour at 52lbs? I have the original boom with the lynx touch at 52, and have trouble with balls going long when going for a winner or when at the net. I was thinking of trying the lynx tour at 55 next restring.
You might want to try one racket at a time using only that particular model for maybe a week and measure stats in the last day. Because your technique might slightly change by adjusting to each racket. And it could improve accuracy for example.
I'm a beginner just start to learn about 3 months ago and your channel help me a lot to make a decided to start to play tennis at 40 years old, Thanks about that! So could you please advice which one is easier to play with? Thank you Ashley
Great to meet you, welcome to the world of tennis!! What racket are you using at the moment? The easiest rackets to play with are the Team lines but it also depends how you play and your strength as they could be too light for you…
@@TheTennisMentor Thanks for reply, Now I use Babolat Pure Drive, but honestly I didn't know how different because it's very new for me. I just looking for a mainly on control racket.
Informative review, does the speed gun measure at the same point as hawkeye/ tournament cameras? I know that's not relevant to comparing the different models in a controlled environment but just curious as those numbers are quite high.
I believe so. They were talking about some of the Head athletes that had used it and their speeds were the same as they are on tournament cameras. I have a fairly big first serve and forehand for my size (if I do say so myself 😆)
Great review Ashley ! How is the stability of the new boom mp compared to the previous generation ? I love my current boom mp but I find it sometimes a bit unstable, especially at the net or when returning big serves.
Great video and a lot of work! I'm surprised you're hitting the ball so hard too as it looks effortless lol. I would love to do a racket testing day like this and get all the data. I'm trying to get an arm friendly racket, have been on the Head Instinct for a while which doesn't have lot of control, prefer the prestige feel but it doesn't have enough control against the bigger hitters. Was considering trying the boom but don't like the head speed so hummm, something to think about 🤔😁
Great review thanks very much. Not seen a comparison like this on youtube yet so well done for getting this out there. Quick question. I do have arm issues and am thinking getting the boom MP but wanted to know if the 2022 MP or the 2024 MP might be softer on my arm? Thanks
A little off topic but have you noticed a difference playing with the black & white Speed 2024 and the Head Speed Legenf? I noticed it more especially with the MP. So much so that I’m sticking with the black & white and may sell the legend.
Like your video very much,Looking forward to your reply In your opinion, comparing boom mp 2024 and extreme mp 2022, which one is better in terms of serving and forgiveness?

Hey, Thanks! In my opinion they’re both great rackets for juniors and so I’d suggest demoing both. The Boom is 270g and Speed 275g (unstrung) so both lightweight and suitable for a high level junior age 10-13 depending on size. Older/stronger juniors may need something a bit heavier, like the MP.
I have seen the match at Indian Wells between Sakkari and Gauff. In a video frame the pattern of her Head Boom racket was a 18x20. Do you know what Head racket she really use? Thanks.
Very professional and polished video but I’m not sure why any play test isn’t using a ball machine to feed. As you said the serve is a better test in terms of removing variables so why not use a machine to feed??? Not sure given the test why anyone would buy a 2024 boom rather than 2022?
Currently I use a 2022 Radical MP. I'm thinking switching to the 2024 Boom MP to get a little more power on my serves and groundstrokes. Will I lose much control? On the Radical i really appreciate the steadiness on receiving heavy serves and the power and control of my one handed backhand. Also considered the Gravity MP for it's wider sweetspot and ability to control points with heavy and deep spinning shots. What's your opinion on the Boom compared to the Radical
Thanks for the grate rewiev! How would you compare the control from the boom mp in general? what tension would you recommend for a good control? i use the head lynx tour 130. is there any difference between the 2022 and 2024 model ?
I used those strings at 52lbs and felt I had a good level of control in the MP. The difference in the upgrade is subtle but it has improved feel and stability.
Okay I know this video is couple weeks old by now and you have been to Austria a couple months ago, but I have a quick question. When you were testing in Dornbirn I am guessing you might have also seen or meet my father. He is the state coach and they always practice there. A bit taller, dark skin and old. Just thinking would be funny if you met him. He has been under contract from Head since the 90s.
I have an speed pro black (2023) and i feelling a litle dificult to stay all the game in the same intesity ( im a beginner tennis player) i love the control of the raquet but i feel some dificults , maybe a chance for an speed mp 2024 or a boom mp? What you recomend? Thanks for the vídeo cheers
A “colorway” refers to the total variety of color versions in a lineup. A specific version is simply referred to as color. If a specific version has multiple colors then it would be referred to as a color combination.
Oh, my mistake! I guess I used the term colourway as I felt that ‘colour’ wouldn’t fit, considering the frames have multiple colours… next time I’ll just say paint job!
I know that you try your best and try to replicate as much as you can every possible situation, but unfortunately if you would do the test the next day with for example less sleep, the result will be definitely different... I think we do really appreciate what you do in terms of numbers like speed and spin etc.. But sometimes I would like to hear more your thoughts without seeing the numbers, the swing is difficult to replicate 100%, different position, different ball speed and rotation from your coach.. Def much better and precise on the serve side.. More mass more speed, also I think you shouldn't try so many rackets at once 😅, too many different feelings, the mp and pro are more then enough and definitely the test will be more accurate.. Saying that I really love the video and the passion you put on it, and coming from the speed black edition I had the same doubt as you to move to the Boom pro.. How does it feel the 23 beam compare to 22, you felt more control or the fact that is not completely even and almost 21.5 on the head create some problems/advantage.. And how you feel when you move from a flat to a kick or slice in a match.. Which racket has a better transition.. Thanks in advance and great job 💪
Very good review. Now you have to do the same with the Gravity line.
I’d love to… hopefully Head are watching 😉
This is a quality, quantitative approach to racquet review.
Like this data-oriented approach to racquet reviews. Great serve speed too!
Thanks, I’d love to do more of them!

Is there a video about the gravity racket too? Couldn’t find any on the channel...
Not yet…
Wow what a review! The best ever for a tennis racket. Congratulations! Which string would you recommend on the boom pro 2024?

waiting for this.
Perhaps to have more confidence in the data the head team should disregard the first 3-5 shots to account for adjusting from one frame to another..?
Good point! They gave me 5 warm up balls on each test but I remember skipping them towards the end as I was exhausted 😅
Great video to collaborate with racquet company for scientific tests. We need more of this. Chance for testing strings?
It was an awesome experience… I hope to do more!

I actually still haven’t used Hawk, my go to is Lynx Tour (although I like Lynx Touch too!)
Just waiting for that Extreme 2024 review!
Next Saturday… 👀
Nice video! Could you give a try using these technology using your Extreme MP? (A humble wish from a Brazilian subscriber - tks)
I got more power on my Serves with the Boom Pro 2022 But I like the Head speed for hitting with my forehand

p.s. My current racket is the Wilson Blade v7 which I love but not getting much power.
To me, the 2024 feels nicer. As far as ‘power’ rackets go, it’s not too stiff so should be arm friendly!

Excellent Review. Hello from Central America. Which MPL would you recommend for a short but high level junior girl? The Speed or Boom?

What are the main differences?
Thank you

Hey can l replace it with my head radical lite racket??
Good review, but I’m still struggling boom mp or pro, I’m a speed mp player
Moving from Speed MP to Boom Pro would be quite a change. To the MP would be easier, but it depends on why you want to change?

How would you compare boom mp 2024 with vcore 100 2023?
so, basically which one do you preffer? :D boom 24 or speed 24?
Speed (it’s going to take a lot for me to change)
It'd be nice if Coco actually used the damn racquet!
I play with the Speed Pro for the ages now. Have the 2019 version I think. Worth giving the new version a crack?
Yes, I think you’ll love it!
Better boom or speed mpl?
speed pro vs gravity pro.
Hi, would you recommend the MP version to those who are starting to have arm discomfort?
It depends what racket you’re coming from?
Pure aero team 2023
I have to 2022 mps and I am wondering if I should switch the 2024 mp version is it worth it?
nah, there is ahrdly any difference between new and olde rmodels, regardless of brand etc.. just stick with what you got, dont waste your money.

Boom is such a childish and ugly word in marketing.
