I watch this every month, and every month it astonishes me. Just phenomenal writing and editing by dunkey. The last 20 seconds fill me with so much emotion
The interesting thing that both of these films have together is not only are they a very realistic musicals, but they both have the same theme of following your dreams and achieving what you are always meant to be, but what you also have to give up in order to achieve it. In whiplash it's shown that neiman despite becoming one of the best drummers of all time was also losing his own humanity, and I think the ending is brilliant because you see it for the most part through the eyes of both and neiman and Fletcher, and it's a triumphant ending for them, but there is one shot that perfectly ties everything together, the dad's reaction. The look of utter horror and shock that his son has entered the event horizon of the inevitable downward spiral, how he basically lost his son. In the end he may be one of the greatest drummers ever, but there is a very likely chance he will end up like the other famous student Fletcher taught who killed himself. For La La Land, both characters finally got what they always wanted, Emma stone got to be an actress, and Ryan Gosling got to open up his own Jazz club, but they lost what they didn't realize they had, each other. In the end they had to go their separate ways and couldn't be together which is what the audience was hoping most from them. All 3 protagonists got what they wanted, but are they really happy in the end?

Ofcourse he has. Lil Kirbs is merely an alter ego of Dunkey, when he is actually plugging in the controller and only wears an eyepatch, rather than a blindfold. Ofcourse it's still his little brother playing - the game couldn't handle 100% Dunkey.
Oj

Movie-only reviewers: "Wait, that's illegal."
No it isn't. I don't want it to be illegal. Therefore it isn't.
They're from the same director and it shows
Anyone in particular call him out?

dunkeys best video fr
glad im not the only one who obsessively returns to this video... this is peak dunkey unironically
My favorite video on dunkey’s channel tbh
revisit it very commonly
Why is Dunkey able to switch back and forth between goofy nonsensical video game reviews and in depth philosophical movie criticism?
*BECAUSE HE IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA* 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Fooking magic
because Hollywood is nitpicking and biased. Dunkey wins, bye bye.
^^
^^^
Obviously it's because he has a little bit of something for everyone
The thing about Whiplash is it really makes you FEEL like La La Land
"It's has a little something for everyone."
And the reason is
*I AM THE PRESIDENT OF THE GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA*
Now, the interesting thing about Space Jam is that it really makes you feel like a soda can
@Snabble You're welcome
smh this video still makes me tear up. one of the dunkmeister's most POWERFUL lines delivered at the end like a railgun bolt to the heart
facts my guy
I watch this every month, and every month it astonishes me. Just phenomenal writing and editing by dunkey. The last 20 seconds fill me with so much emotion
god i come back to this often just for the ending
ME TOO
The end really make you feel like Batman
Could that be or feel more batman
Same, I see this video like twice a week xd
“And it isn’t until the finale until you realize how carefully the pieces have been stacked up”
I half expected him to finish the video with, "but shrek 2 outdoes both of these. Best movie of all time."
DACRUMB Knack II babyyy
Love him out hate him, he's spitting straight facts.
But it could never beat SUPA MARIO 2! SU-SUPA-SUPA MARIO 2
Was waiting for SUPER MARIO BROS 2.
You say that as a joke but Shrek 2 is genuinely my favourite film of all time, before the age of memes even
The interesting thing that both of these films have together is not only are they a very realistic musicals, but they both have the same theme of following your dreams and achieving what you are always meant to be, but what you also have to give up in order to achieve it.
All 3 protagonists got what they wanted, but are they really happy in the end?
damn.
This is the best Dunkey video. And I have watched A LOT of them
Ultimately I’m just happy you’re expressing yourself instead of just trying to please us, the audience.
Likewise, I just can't help but ask, though... why Whiplash?
@@hobosorcerer My guess is that it's because Whiplash and La La Land are both directed by Damien Chazelle. I did the same thing last year: watched La La Land, loved it, and wanted to see what else the director filmed.
@@hobosorcerer whiplash is way too good a movie to not be reviewed by dunkey tho
@@lunatic_3521 That's not what he said. But you are so far of that I feel like you are trolling and I don't know if I even should reply.

Dunkey feel free to do more videos like this. Seeing this a year later reminds me how good it is
Thank you Dunkey, I literally just watched both of these movies back to back and was glued to the screen, the ending of whiplash was just inspirational and La La was sad asf but beautiful
I give both
A Dunkey / Dunkey 🏆
LaLa land would have been more realistic if 2/3rds of the movie was traffic
This comment is what inspired Tarantino to make Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
LilSmonkie this is the single best comment I have ever seen. I recently watched the movie and I just, wanted, to, die.
Why do you think so much time passed in the movie?
And it still would've been better than Twilight
@@Adino1 😂😂😂😂
I love watching Dunkey play games. However, when he busts out the kubrick references and starts giving these passionate essays on film, that's when you know it's grown ups only time
Ok boomer
@@lunatic_3521 if you play as an adult in your game you can watch this.
Oh my god, this hack should review Grown Ups 2!!! That movie is a masterpiece and one of the greatest artistic visions from a director in cinema history!!
Excuse my ignorance, but what's the Kubrick reference?
@@GDNachoo Do you know what boomer means?
Loving Dunkey's movie reviews. I could watch a whole play-list of these!
I wish dunkey made more movie review essays. This is one of my favourite videos from dunkey actually!
La La Land really makes you feel like whiplash
@mt I know right
Pretty damn good review for being blindfolded while watching the movies.
No replies??, damn guess I'll be the first then
He's not even watching the movies, it's his little brother watching and he STILL gives better movie reviews than you jokers!
Charles Hart also his tv isn’t even plugged in
C'mon it was his little brother watching it
Holy crap!! I laughed so load!!! xD
I love these type of dunkey videos. Everything about them are amazing
This is my favorite Dunkey video, I just love someone passionately talking about great movies!
This movie really makes you feel like La La Land
Dude 😂
This joke really makes you feel like Dunkey when he said he feels like he's seeing the same thing over and over again.
This comment really makes me feel like killing myself.
I don't think this or any other version of this joke will stop being funny to me.
Tom Coughlan it has a little something for everyone
Movie Video Essay Channel: *makes 20 minute videos about a single scene*
Dunkey: *makes a 4 minute video about 2 movies*
Somehow it was just as, perhaps more, informative, accurate, and entertaining.
@@QRyan707 that's the power of dunkey
Video essays were cool but now there's too many of them.
Yeah... I want more
And you feel that Dunkey tells you more about those films in less time.
I have heard probably thousands reviews of movies and yet I still come back to this one brimming with heart :) a great one dunkey!
Best vid on RUclips seen this some many times he is just so good with transitioning and says so much with little words being spoken I finish the vid and watch again getting something new out of it every time and the way he puts everything together in the end is amazing bravo dunkey
"If you havent notice, this guy kinda angry"
Of course dunkey, of course
he looked perfectly calm tho
i mean, peter lied about being friends with spiderman so of course he'd be angry
Someone beat you in bowsers big bean burrito, get your record back
