Surprised no one else is mentioning how poor it looks that you can see much further ahead in the ray-traced reflections due to the fog or an approximation of it not being included in the reflections, breaks the aesthetic a bit.
I also have a 3070 and did extended tests in this area. In my test runs it was really easy to achieve Vram overflow just by circling around these streets a few times, no matter the resolution/settings the outcome was the same. Once it hit around 7.8- 8Gb of Vram usage I had single digit FPS, it was repeatable with almost every res/setting combo. It isn't just traversal stutter, the game stutters anytime it loads in any kind of assets (enemies for example). Those assets aren't released, which is indicative of probably a Vram leak or just blatant mishandling of assets. I also tried the vulkan/dx11 mod and that one had better 1% and 0.1% lows, Vram usage was better and more stable and it had no overflow issues. Traversal stutters were almost completely gone too. But the game seemed to be missing some effects which led to a diminished visual output, also upscaling was unavailable (besides FSR1 and TSR) and obviously no RT too. As per usual these days, this game is unfinished and there's several pieces of evidence: 1. It runs poorly on the PS5; 2. "Exclusivity deal" that prevents it from releasing to the Xbox (there is absolutely no way this version can run even close to decently on the Series S); 3. Missing features that can be triggered via config file (FSR3 FG, RR). Also the game is using older upscaler versions; 4. Atrocious traversal stutter and Vram Leaks that can be remedied by using a less "tinkerable" api (DX11) which indicates that the game hasn't received much low level optimization; I am just a regular dude who likes video games so take all this with a grain of salt, can't wait for DF to take a deep dive into this and maybe even trigger a patch or provide us with the remedy I couldn't find.
Another stuttery Unreal Engine game, great. I started playing Until Dawn Remake (Unreal Engine 5) last night and it's basically unplayable with the stutters everywhere and the horrible performance, i mean really horrible. Great video as always, thanks.

@@aaronsorspomar96 At the beginning there isn't much stutter, but after you get inside the house it gets very stuttery. There are other problems like ray tracing doesn't work, your settings sometimes resets, specific key bindings don't save, and many other problems. Full unreal combo in this one.
I'm wondering, in the old games the fog actually was a performance saver. In this, is it volumetric, and if so does it have an associated quality setting? If not, I don't know what could possibly excuse this level of performance with basically not a damn thing happening.

What a piece of garbage of a code. Did not expect anything less from Bloober. They can't code a game engine if it meant to save their life. I mean let's be real, it's almost the same story with any bigger Polish project. It also runs like crap on the PS5. The quality mode can't lock to 30 when things happen on the screen, or the location is taxing. The cherry on top is the pacing issues. Then we have the performance mode. That only hits 60 in specific locations/moments. Outside of that it's a constant below 60 experience, with a lot of 40-50 fps range, when things get heavy with action or geometry. Looking at your amazing benchmark here, it seems (as always) that the PC version got hit even harder than the PS5. The reviews on Steam seem all to be a big fat lie. Like who writes shit like "game is amazing, love yall
@@asahira7834 yeah steam reviews were surprising as they usually are very poor around 50 to 60% when game has performance issues, perhaps this game has lot of fan following. Unreal Engine is complete rubbish on PC, I really hope this engine dies, sadly seems to get more and more popular. Just a stuttering mess with awful frame timing.
