    Had a 3rd gen. "17, now a '22 650 Adventure. Love the looks of these. All around superb machine. 1st one had a failure in 40k miles. Low beam bulb. Wanted the XT, only reason for switch. 58-62 mpg. Smooth, torquey VTwin.A tech at local dealer seen one with over 300k miles on original engine. WOW! Overall, totally pleased. Proud to ride one. Great review.

      @@GermanJobbies Thanks for your reply. The only thing I changed was the tyres. I chose Michelin Pilot Road 6. In 2010 the V-strom was released with mixed tyres ( Trailwing Bridgestone) very slippery on the wet (and even sometime on dry road) and they were not as agile as the Michelin Pilot Road. By agile, I mean that with the Michelin Pilot Road the bike is much more reactive when you want to turn.

    An honest review and a great video. My experience is very similar. I`ve got a ZX9R which I`ve done over 50K on and I love it. I wanted something completely different so bought the same model V Strom as yours. After the first ride I couldn`t believe just how well it handled and that it was `only` a 650. The way it pulls is superb. WHAT an engine it has. Can see me hanging onto this for quite some while.

    I'm pleased You're happy with your new bike, a different Beastie entirely to your Fazer, yet still a Beastie in its own right. My KTM is not a bike I fell in love with straight away, looks that only a mother could love yet they have grown on me. However as an all rounder it excels, it still gets a hustle on and loves the Twisties, whilst handling the crappy winter roads like a breeze. My Fazer's petrol guage went down as quick as it's rev counter went up, I'm sure you'll benefit greatly from the extra miles in each tank. Wishing you many happy miles of adventures together.

Only two of three holes will line up and their bolts are a different thread to the holes in the chassis. Think I'm going to give up, send it back and get a glue on extension.

    • @greywolf9292
      @greywolf9292 Год назад

      @@GermanJobbies Don't worry I will, obviously others have had similar struggles as the destructions imply issues are due to not aligning it properly. The bolts supplied are obviously imperial as you can feel them stripping as you try to screw them in. I bought 5 X 20mm ones and they fit but one won't go in due to misalignment. I may look at butchering the hugger and glueing it like an extension to the old mount, then give a really bad review on eBay.
      There's also another issue with their product, the OEM one has a compartment with a notch into which an electrical junction fits. The PB one uses two small cable ties and leaves the junction exposed to all the water and crud off the tyre. Did you comment on the Rocket video, as I cannot see it, I only ask as other regular viewers comments are also missing.

    @germanjobbies, great video, really enjoyed it. I’ve been looking for a bike for weekend rides and adventures, nothing crazy, mostly on road. Checkes the Honda 750X which was my top pick, much less power than the Vstrom. Looked at the transalp but damm….. it is too tall, i’m 5’7 so no way. Not sure why but here in Costa Rica Tenere is stupidly expensive $20,000) and I think is the tallest so automatically discarded. Initially I did not like the Vstrom cuz it looked too classy, no TFT etc etc… anyways decided to give it an opportunity and happened the same as you, I feel in love with the classy dashboard, the sound of the engine and just enough power. Problem with a lot of reviewers saying this has no power is because they all think everyone wants to go +200 kmph risking live…… come on, I was driving a bajaj pulsas 180 wirh 14 HP 12 years ago in my college time lol………

    20/80 tyre's should be fine & be alright on gravel roads but mud & dirt still be a struggle that's where you'd need 40/60 40% off road.If you're just touring on it full road tyre's be a big improvement but reckon 20/80 be your best bet giving you gravel use as well.Brand of tyre's makes a big difference too.Also you want rounded edged tyre's as they tip in better into corners & 20% off road be rounded edge.The squarer the tyre the more cautious you have to be into corners on the road but more grip off road.
    Tiger 🐅 660 is a great Sport Tourer
    but has a 17" front so avoiding gravel or going really slow.I think 🤔 the
    Vstrom Adv has a 19" front so be great on gravel got panniers.
    These days tourqe delivery is more important than HP & riding a bike with good tourqe delivery will surprise you as you found out.

    • @ruahinesrider
      @ruahinesrider Год назад +1

      Alot of my mates ride Harley Davidsons & they're tourqe monsters with long 1st -2nd gears & gap me from intersections but once I'm in 3rd 4th,5th all over them.Alright if you want heaps of low down tourqe & vibrations in the bars,knees higher than bum hands up high poor blood flow to legs hence highway pegs & hands.I see them shaking their hands stretching legs they are comfy for awhile.Mid & exit corner speed is good too but they lose so much speed into corners cause of their weight they get in the way.That is why you pass them into corners cause mid size bike lighter & carries speed better.They always trying to talk me I to getting one but I like upright riding position & my body doesn't like cruisers & after accident needed a light bike hence the Trident 🔱 189kg wet & 660cc mid size bike.Interceptor
      kep't up with HD & faster in the real twistie stuff.Trident🔱 is slower like Interceptor low down from standing starts but once moving & with Quick Shifter Trident 🔱 is faster than Interceptor & the big Harley's they got a shock.Light weight & great tourqe delivery is real fun & more so with Quick Shifter.I been taking it easy too but nearly finished run in & is getting smoother & smoother & faster HD boy's surprised at Interceptor keeping up they'll get a shock at run in Trident with Quick Shifter.

So, if you like your 650 don't test ride the 1050 and I mean the normal one, not the DE. Regarding pegs scraping, I ran the bridgestone A41s and with about 2mm left of chicken strips on both sides of the rear, I never scraped. Same with the 1050. I can only imagine that with handlebars that are as wide as the Clyde, it'll take a wee while to get used to, although by the end of this your sounding pretty chuffed! 👍😎
    OK so a huge plummet in power, but usable power is more suited to more or less all of us, OK so I think I've got 1bhp more than you now though & still not stretched it's throttle fully yet! 🤣😂👍

      Yip, the Fazer had to be wound up to make it stomp, by then it's too late...torque is more real world and less top...I'm a convert😂 the mickey mouse ear mirrors are actually useful too.
      You bassa, waving you 1 bhp over me! I feel humiliated 😅

    Hi. What about brakes? Are they strong enough?

    • @GermanJobbies
      @GermanJobbies  Год назад +1

      The brakes are well matched to the bike's power. Unless you're going to use it as a track racer, they're strong enough👍👍🤠

    It's a clean looking cockpit not to much of anything. I'm with you on the exhaust noise can't see the point of super loud . Not great for early starts for work waking the neighbours 😴 😮 sounds like you are loving the bike . Smaller cc makes sense.

    You'll be amazed how agile they are Dunc, get it leant over. You've more chance of those satellite dish mirrors touching down before you do😁😁
    And you hit the nail right on the heed, it's a cheap versatile do it all bike.
    There's a lot of those 650's have been on mega tours across all kinds of surfaces.
    Start spanking it on them bends🤣🤣
