Unbelievable that you put 3 of the types of tones for metal that I like the most. Rectifier, JCM 800 and the VH140c. And today there are great solid state pedals simulating these sounds, obviously, they will shine in a good old tube power, that's why I use my Carvin T100 and it doesn't owe anything to anyone, even using digital or solid state preamps. However, I prefer the Road King 1 itself a little more than the Recto itselft, the poweramp running 2xEL34 and 4x6l6 is kinda genius.
@@aheadofmetal that's why your Mesa sounds a bit more "grind" maybe (about the EL34). The RoadKing are good amps, lots of stuff, discontinued I think, sadly.
What about a WGS ET90 or WGS GREEN BERET with the VHD? Honestly the marshall and VHD needs WGS Green Beret or Reaper 30. The WGS green beret sounds exactly like an original 1970 green back yet with the same low end with that even better cuspid kind of detail on the bass. Wish could find Eminence black powders then the single mono 8 ohm speaker hunt would be over.
VHD can be easily dialed in to have more treble, though. Ampeg/VHD is so far my favorite amp for death metal. Just something raw and gnarly about them.
I saw a video that claimed that the "true" Justice and Black Album Tone was made by a very mid-scooped Mesa but with an additional Marshall to fill in the mids for crunch, bite and definition. I guess, this video kinda prooves the general idea of blending Mesa and Marshall.
Mesa and Marshall are like left and right fists. Blended is like grabbing the nearest bystander and full body throwing.
Ha ha. I like this analogy.
Agreed
I run a MARKV and a multi watt rectifier and that's my insane wall of sound. I did enjoy this just as much

Left - Cannibal Corpse
Right - Carcass
Together - Whitesnake😂
Heat of the night baby!
Blended together was perfect, but individually, Mesa does it for me when going for that Death Metal tone.
I go back and forth myself. I think my ear is more "used" to the Marshall sound and feel, but the Mesa definitely does the dm sound well!

I agree that those amps are my favorite. Never played a roadster, but my recto is running EL34's

@@szveszs i have a video comparing the 6l6 to el34. I like the el34 a little better i think.
Blended is the way to go! Super thick and evil sounding! 😈
I dig the blend too. Sounds more unique I think...
I'd normally pick the Marshall but that Tremoverb is PHAT.
I'm with you man. It definitely has a sound
Single guitar player in the band = Mesa all the way! 2 guitarplayers = Mesa and Marshall, awesome killer tones
Thanks dude. I am a fan of both as well \m/

The Mesa just does it better for this sound imo.
Mesa brings it for sure.
Mesa 🤟🏻
Yea Mesa brings it
They all sounded good in the mix but VHD and JCM were lacking highs isolated. Mesa sounded best both times in my opinion.
It is very interesting to me how cabinets are voiced toward specific amps. The VHD is best with the HM-2 I think.

Mesa! 💥🤘🏻
Mesa rules
i prefer the mesa
Mesa is hard to beat.
Bugera TriRec owns all
Never tried one

I've heard that also. I have to mess with blending a little more
