TheUltimateFanBoy Actually, Titmouse Animations created a short animated sequence of Scott Pilgrim as a promo for the movie. You can find it online if you're interested. There was talks about a Scott Pilgrim Animated TV Series after the movie, but it was just talks, nothing on the table really. Even if Chris Prynoski wanted to pitch it, Titmouse was working on other things at the time such as Motorcity, Black Dynamite, and Superjail. As well, Adult Swim was interested in other projects at the time. As well, Bryan Lee O'Malley already had concepts for his new book "Seconds". I don't think the show would've lasted, there just isn't an audience for cartoons like that anyone. But, thanks to fans, Scott Pilgrim was able to be rereleased in Color, which was something Bryan always wanted.
Ah, Scott Pilgrim was my shit a few years back. I played the game, watched the movie, read the comic, and watched the animation. You could say I was obsessed with it.
I don't understand why people are so upset about SAO not being on this list, this is a list for top ten best movies and cartoons for gamers, not the worst.
Wreck-It Ralph is a great movie, I really don't understand why it didn't get more attention. I never heard my friends talk about it, but for some reason Frozen became a ****ing phenomenon. Now chill, I am not attacking Frozen in any way, shape, or form, it's a perfectly fine movie - I just think that Wreck-It Ralph was better, but that is my opinion.
i hated wreck it ralph. to me, it was just candyland the movie with a couple of street fighter characters, a sonic cameo and a metal gear reference. i think they could have made the exact same movie with board games or some shit
To be honest, I think that Scott Pilgrim would have been like 1000% better as a series, not a movie. And don't get me wrong, I love the fuck out of that movie, but because of time and stuff they had to cut out some of my favourite characters and developments from the book. I think if they make a series more loyal to the book, it honestly could be one of my favourite things of all time XD. Or at least a mini series. Like the animated short promo for the movie. (Which wasn't even a scene in the movie >-
I Like movies more than series to be honest,i hate to have the suspense for the next episode and everything taking 10 Episodes to set up,but it could work out too
Most likely because Sora is in Wreck it Ralph as a small easter egg during the root bear tapper scene. When the bartender is passing everyone drinks if you look closely next to Ralph, Sora is there
Otaking Mikohani or when kojima made metal gear then a shit sequel was made he made a real sequel then konami forces him to make metal gear but he doesnt say no fuck the fans and he sits down and rambles weird things and they are then translated nah just joking hes awesome
So... does anyone else want the Scott Pilgrim game to get a re- release? It was a good game, but the license ran out and now you can't buy it. I wish they would release it for PS4.
NHK isn't really all that much about video games. The main character just happens to be making a game during the series, and it is an important subplot, but it's not the main focus.
I know. Though they could have done that twins thing way better. Not that the fight wasn't cool, but I though they really could have gotten better actors to suit that role and even had a fight scene. That arc was probably one of the most important arcs as well. That and they completely took out Knives's father.
If you have Xfinity on Demand, you can watch Summer Wars on Adult Swim. They played it not too long ago, and it's on demand (for now) on my provider. And it's just a movie, in case you didn't know.
Not surprised that Scott Pilgrim is on this list, that's a terrific film whether or not you like video games (for me, it was the only comedy I genuinely liked since Anchorman). Also glad you mentioned Summer Wars, forgot that I love that movie. I think it's also a relatable film if you come from a big family, you recognize a lot of the familiar characters: burly uncle, tough aunt who's a mother, one who's over protective, a black sheep and, of corse, a grandmother who's a matriarch of the whole family.

Personally I think Phil Fish just had a bit of a meltdown and gets a bad rap. He clearly has self esteem issues and insecurities and when he's made fun of by someone in the gaming journalism industry he instantly gets angry and defensive, expressing himself through mean-spirited Futurama quotes. He got a real pessimistic view of the industry and just quit. Should he have exploded and made himself look like a douchebag? No, but you have to understand what his view is. Hopefully someday he'll get himself back together and make Fez 2.
I agree. He clearly wasn't ready for the pressures that come with becoming a public figure, and it affected him for the worse. He's clearly got talent (Fez was fantastic), but he needs to learn how to accept criticism without taking it personally.

This needs to be updated to include No Game No Life. Good list otherwise, though. Also, Welcome to the NHK wasn't *about* a guy developing a video game and becoming a shut-in. Rather, doing something productive in his isolation was one of the steps in his "treatment," so to speak. He was already a hikkikomori to begin with. I was never aware of Megas XLR. I need to go ahead and check that out. Glad as well to see Wreck-it Ralph getting some love.

My top 5: 5. Dredd- It feels like a badass video game, plus I couldn't think of anything else I've seen. 4. War Games- I haven't seen Summer Wars so this'll have to do. 3.Wreck-it-Ralph- I would have liked it better if there were more worlds, but it was still a great film. 2.Scott Pilgrim VS the World- I love Edgar Write and even though Hot Fuzz is my favorite of his this is still an awesome movie. 1.Tron- I love everything about this movie, and I have only seen it for the first time in the last year.

there should be an updated list for 2023, now that stuff like free guy is out and wreck it ralph got retroactively ruined by the existence of the sequel (just like the matrix, or star wars… twice) edit: also the jumanji reboot and the whole “king of con” thing
Holy shit, is that Megas XLR?! I used to worship that show when I was growing up! As for Summer Wars, I really want to check it out since G4's channel has pretty much gone down the drain. R.I.P. G4 I knew thee well.
Fun fact:the first time i saw summer wars it went on from 10:00pm all the way to 7:00am and i loved it so much to where i watched the entire thing, still not sure why toonumi did that
+Mister Tago Mago I mean it would be enjoyable for gamers, in the first half they do get down some decent atmosphere and video game tropes; although most the rest of it's terrible.
+The Heartless Hero there a better animes of vídeo games like the .hack// series and log horizon, sao is a common shonnen anime who happen to be in a videogame
Alright, imagine if you will, a TV show with two whole seasons, except each episode is entirely machinima. That was the glory of G4's Portal - all of it's characters, plot, etc, took place inside of various existing MMOs and other genres. Not people from the real world teleporting into these games, but the avatars themselves having a life and story of their own. It was a sketch comedy/soap opera that featured games ranging from Sims & Second Life to Everquest, Anarchy Online, & Asheron's Call. While it may seem old and dated now, having cohesive story arcs told through pure machinima on TV was and is awesome to think about, and catching it when it came on every Saturday morning was the best feeling ever as a kid. You can still see episodes of it in their respective story arcs on youtube by searching G4's Portal.
I'd really recommend Log Horizon to any MMO players out there. It's a rather great anime about..... hmm, where I was going with this is kind of a spoiler.
Welcome to the NHK wasn't mainly about making a game (It was more of a sub plot really) but about someone who struggles to get back on his feet. It also also talked about some pretty dark stuff like suicide, addiction, suicide again, etc. (I'm not kidding about that last part, they do scenarios based around depression and suicide TWICE!)
It wasn't the main plot at all, the reason I called it a sub plot is because every time something big happened they went to the game to make the vibe of the show go down a bit before another big thing happened. And if it was the main plot of the show, then it would have ended when Yamazaki left.
That's what I said in the beginning. Quote, "Welcome to the NHK wasn't mainly about making a game... but about someone who struggles to get back on his feet.", end quote.
I'm very late to the party when I say, "I saw Sword Art Online in the montage at the beginning but it is truly a sin to not see it in the countdown!!!." Granted this countdown was very clear, concise, and covered a lot of bases. I'm just really sad it didn't make it when I feel it could have made a spot.
So I've been smoking a bit, but I have some random fact for you today. Apparently, the first Tron movie was trying to get supertramp to do the soundtrack. I can't imagine what that would have been like.
I'm actually a little surprised that no one has mentioned code lyoko yet , it was a really good show and has some game-like features in it, I wouldn't say it was the best but I think it deserve some recognition though.
If you've ever read the comics, you'll understand why the movie should not be #1. The movie's good, but it could have been MUCH better. They should have done 2 movies, imo.
keiosnirren But that's the thing. I would have sooner had a movie made closer to completion of the comics themselves. Forgoing that, the director STILL could have done two movies. The first four or five exes could have easily made up a movie to themselves, with the rest turning up in the sequel. There was SO MUCH character development lost in the latter half of the movie than what the comics had. The fact that an alternate ending to the movie exists with Scott ending up with Knives is almost repulsive to me, and even further proof that the director should have waited before writing the script.
Scott Pilgrim vs the World were my favorite film on DVD since 2010, and I having autism, and I'm still watching Scott Pilgrim vs the World on DVD again on Saturday night at 7PM, okay?
XBeccaDrawsX Yeah they are, especially the genre subversion at the end but the movie is still great and does a fantastic job of capturing the essence of the comics.
XBeccaDrawsX Funny, because I recall Arin Hanson saying he couldn't quite get into the comics. Ironic that your profile picture is that 10-chinned loveable oaf.

HimuLily I was exactly like you at the beginning, don't worry English is a very simple language, you will learn it.
I fucking love Scott Pilgrim.
My top 5:
5:24 yeah I bet you want to f**k me Rebeltaxi 2013......?🤣that’s the best quote you ever said I couldn’t stop laughing am going say that when someone says that to me and this why I subscribe to you 😂
I loved wreck it ralph, so many memorable video game characters I grew up with...
It's sort of odd going back to this top 10 knowing the supposed stuff that was revealed about Billy Mitchell (also side note i got to see Billy at a convention last year and that felt pretty odd too)
there should be an updated list for 2023, now that stuff like free guy is out and wreck it ralph got retroactively ruined by the existence of the sequel (just like the matrix, or star wars… twice)
edit: also the jumanji reboot and the whole “king of con” thing
Holy shit, is that Megas XLR?! I used to worship that show when I was growing up! As for Summer Wars, I really want to check it out since G4's channel has pretty much gone down the drain. R.I.P. G4 I knew thee well.
Fun fact:the first time i saw summer wars it went on from 10:00pm all the way to 7:00am and i loved it so much to where i watched the entire thing, still not sure why toonumi did that
The number 1 was my favorite one. It makes me want to keep on going with my dream to become a animator. :D
Gotta love that 2013 mic quality.
Was afraid he was going to put that piece of shit Sword Art Online on this list.
Hahahahaha
+Mister Tago Mago I mean it would be enjoyable for gamers, in the first half they do get down some decent atmosphere and video game tropes; although most the rest of it's terrible.
+The Heartless Hero I found it boring from the Begginings tbh.
+The Heartless Hero there a better animes of vídeo games like the .hack// series and log horizon, sao is a common shonnen anime who happen to be in a videogame
+miguel com *that happens
Just pls man, just pls.
You can still see episodes of it in their respective story arcs on youtube by searching G4's Portal.
just noticed that the glove controller from "The Power" is referenced in Regular Show
I guess you could say, Reboot may get a Reboot
I'd really recommend Log Horizon to any MMO players out there. It's a rather great anime about..... hmm, where I was going with this is kind of a spoiler.
+mamberu , I just felt like strongly agreeing with you! It's an awesome and most clever show, I love it!
Also, Satou wasn't turned into a Hikikamouri because of making a game. Watch the actual show -.-
And I forgot to change my account -.-
Main plot? *Shoots myself*
Huh Sword Art Online never again
He mentioned "Sword Art Online" and "Code Monkeys." Both of these are on Netflix and I recommend.
Megas XLR was the shit. I miss it :(
Watch Log Horizon now! It actually knows what it's doing compared to SAO.
Woah really!? That's a hell of an endorsement.
Megas XLR please come back to me!!!!
PROJARED WAS ON G4?????
No. That was the screw attack news show
No matter where you go he will find you with his face of evil.
Hello.
Xarazel But Mr Sark was.
One thing to say....READY PLAYER ONE

Raging Froakie Don't you dare steal my thunder.
k
i personally think the best should have been scott pilgram vs the world but meh i guess number 1 works too
If you've ever read the comics, you'll understand why the movie should not be #1. The movie's good, but it could have been MUCH better. They should have done 2 movies, imo.
keiosnirren
But that's the thing.
Drake von Drake
That's a really big risk, though. Making one movie on that comic is risky enough.
Risk is what separates great artists from the average ones. It's always a shame when the movie industry refuses to take a risk.
god dam!! im learning about so many new shows from your videos (and movies). As well as getting reminded about plenty of old ones too.

*cough* *cough* TheScottPilgrimcomicswerewaybetterthanthemovie *cough*
XBeccaDrawsX Yeah they are, especially the genre subversion at the end but the movie is still great and does a fantastic job of capturing the essence of the comics.
Yeah, I love how they combined all 6 books into one awesome movie. The game is awesome too
XBeccaDrawsX Funny, because I recall Arin Hanson saying he couldn't quite get into the comics. Ironic that your profile picture is that 10-chinned loveable oaf.
"Comics"
Freddy Fairlane
Lmaooo! Thank you for pointing that out!
