When I first saw it, I thought it looked for all the world like a chassis wildcat. Woo-Hoo!!! Man, being able to lie in the grass and shoot! Not here. Central Texas. All Fire Ants, Scorpions, and everything stings here. I built a pcp hand gun equipped with a black light and green reflex dot sight just for hunting them. last summer I killed 1837 scorpions on my home range. They glow like bright green stars in the black light. LOL! When my own design hand cast HP's hit them they explode in a shower of green shrapnel. Love it@ Thanks for the vid. Matt. I'm excited over this new offering which doesn't happen very often. I am currently still testing the Superior liner that FX made available to me before the release to the public. I removed the choke and it shot even better! The Maverick looks like a handy light weight hunter. I'll be watching!!! KnifeMaker
Matt this is great! One of the best reviews of an airgun I have watched. I have been trying to decide what 25 to get and I am preordering a Maverick, thanks for this.
finaly, FX has found multiple regulators work better to step down pressure. At my work (laboratory) for 1 analysis we have 3 regs in series to step down the delivered 200bar N2 cylinders to eventually ~30bar. 1st step does roughly to 50bar and then the last 2 regs do the precise work. as slight increase in pressure can have massive effect on some analysis we do. Great to see this from FX, great competitor to the RTI Prophet/priest 2. with carbon bottles
I've been using double Regs even on my mig welder gas lol, it all started out because I thought I had a bad regulator so I had a second one and hooked it up in line now it just feels like I can more precisely regulate my gas and I have been able to use actually less gas I'm running at a lower pressure more consistently

Thank you for such a great introduction to the MAVERICK. You do a great job explaining the differences between the Maverick and the impact thank you for all your hard work
Thank you for all this information. Been holding off on the Impact because it seemed a bit complicated for a recreational shooter like me at 73. Have the Wildcat mk2 in 25cal. I think I can handle the step up in 22cal.👍
Yours is one of my favorite air rifle channels. I just watched Air Rifle Activities channel and he spray painted the backs of his slugs/pellets with fluorescent green (he said fluorescent orange is best) and when he showed replays in slow motion, the slugs were very visinle. A good idea that you should consider since you show slow motion replays.
Great presentation as usual Matt , A versatile gun with loaded features at a very reasonable price , excellent accuracy at such weather conditions. I did not understand how to alter the valve settings to get the best air consumption and timing. Thanks
Matt, you're one fantastic spokesman for the FX genre of air guns and do such a great job in your practical testing videos I hope they are 'compensating' you accordingly.....
Thanks for a great video reveal, just one wee correction, @14:25 you call it a Compact Impact, this is even better (lighter and cheaper) - a compact Maverick!! 😍 Thanks for helping show us what a Maverick can do, this rifle looks amazing! Cheers. Russ
Watched the video and ordered the gun 5 minutes later. This gun will be a game changer! Looked into so many other guns there always something I don’t like about them and couldn’t pull the trigger, but as soon as I saw this baby I simply had to have it. ......granted you are the reason I have an impact also.

Hi Matt, finally got my Maverick Sniper in .22. Did not change the factory settings. Its the newest model with the slug and pellet transferport in one and sadly with he new plastic cheek piece with all the magazine problems. Fixed that myself and did contact the dealer about it. Did not change the gun but modified some off my magazines. On hammer setting 5 it does 216 shots at around 267 mtr 50J with the H&N 21 gr 217. I do feel a slight puff of air when fired on the chin...so I might do the 2 hour ride to the dealer for having them checking that out.

Maybe FX ought to do a better job of supplying the promised parts for existing guns rather than making new ones instead? Quite frankly, if AirArms would make my 510XS into a lightweight skeletal gun, I'd put money into that instead. It's just as accurate and practically the same power.

Thanks for the good review. I noticed the shot string velocity was bouncing up an down a lot fro shot to shot. Kinda defeats the idea of dual regulators. But I’m sure it just needs a little more tuning, which you mention. So when can we expect a follow up with that tuning and less wind? I’m looking forward to it already!
Good explain Brother. Very interesting air gun. I got a feeling you still prefer FX Impact more than FX maverick ? But from your explained I'm like both of them. Thanks you so much for your video clips that give a lot of knowledge.
Being in Australia what sort of after market support is offered if something does go wrong ? Looks awesome and very keen but with al the extra components to build can only assume there is more to possibly go wrong ?
I just order the VP in .30 cal. Base on your experience what regulator pressure do you think is the best. I want power but at the same time shot counts and accuracy. A combination of everything. This will be my first FX. Thank you.

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work . You and Ted Biers are the guys that inspired me to pick up airguning in the first place.
The FX hybrids have always been more stable for me at or above 970 fps. the higher 990 fps the better they grouped at 100+ yards. But still, the versatility of the Maverick is rad! I want one, Going to get one from Utahair guns with FDE cerakote. They also have the slug power kit which should make it more of a beast. We need an update video MATTHEW!!!
The tins I have were all bad batches (not very concentric or consistent) and the 16gr I had were from a very good batch. So I used the pellets that I thought would give me best results.
great video, do you know if you order a .22 or the .30 cal are the innards the same? does the .30 have more heavy or lighter springs and hammer weights?
Same internals for all calibers. There's a slug power kit for the Maverick for those wanting to push heavier projectiles. Consists of heavier hammer, slug pin probe, etc
I believe the things he mentioned are the trigger on the impact is better (watch at about 5:20 minutes in) since the linkage is at the trigger in the impact and near the rear of the maverick. True bullpup triggers (like the Maverick and Wildcat) have linkage (typically a long thin bar) connecting from the trigger to the back of the gun near the action, many feel this lessens the "crispness" of the trigger due to the extra parts. The Impact also has a transfer port adjustor and I don't believe that is available on the Maverick (or Wildcat). Take care, Andrew in AZ
Hey Matt, at around 15:00 you say that you would prefer the 700mm barrel and 580cc bottle version (I believe it's called the Sniper) for heavier pellets or slugs. I am currently thinking about buying the Maverick. I won't hunt with it, as it is not allowed where I live. It will be purely for recreational shooting to around 60m, so there would be no need to go with a high power setup or even slugs. I was thinking of getting a .22 and running it around 40joule/30ft/lbs, which is around what most standard air guns in .22 seem to produce. I currently own a dreamline in 4.5mm and 7.62mm. I'd like a bit larger caliber, but the 7.62 in the dreamline is just a pain because you only get around 30 shots per fill. I love the design of the Maverick and also the efficiency. With a moderate power setup, I could easily get 100's of shots per fill and still have a reasonably flat trajectory and decent speed with a standard weight pellet. Would you say though, that the Maverick might not be the best air gun for me? I suppose it is meant to be more of a high performance gun. I know this video is 3yrs old, so if anyone else maybe wants to chime in instead of Matt himself, any input and recommendations are welcome! :) Maybe even a rough tuning setup for standard JSB .22 pellets as far as reg pressure is concerned. Should I go with the compact over the sniper? The idea was that the sniper version has a much bigger tank and also better efficiency with the longer barrel. I almost exclusively shoot from a bench, so mobility or weight is no concern.
Thank you for another great video! Your reviews are detailed, and thorough! Does the original Impact not have the double regulator? I'm planning on buying an FX, but I'm split between the two. Than you!
Can you move the cheek rest to the right side then insert the mag to the left of the air gun? And if it cant, would you consider doing it so lefty can use the gun without the mag bothering their line of sight. Great intro as always..👍

Will they be making a left hand model ? Or will they do a left hand kit?
Maybe even a rough tuning setup for standard JSB .22 pellets as far as reg pressure is concerned.
Should I go with the compact over the sniper? The idea was that the sniper version has a much bigger tank and also better efficiency with the longer barrel.
I almost exclusively shoot from a bench, so mobility or weight is no concern.
Me gusta el FX Mavericks pero con el cañón más largo
What a great one, Matt😱😍😍
Thank you for another great video! Your reviews are detailed, and thorough! Does the original Impact not have the double regulator? I'm planning on buying an FX, but I'm split between the two. Than you!
Can you move the cheek rest to the right side then insert the mag to the left of the air gun? And if it cant, would you consider doing it so lefty can use the gun without the mag bothering their line of sight. Great intro as always..👍
Do you know when the new impact 3 is coming out ?
Hello Matt; you would tell me how much the first regulator is set and then the second I understood at 135 bars is that right?
Just bought my first FX Impact MK 2 and loved upgrading and tuning it to my choice, now this little beauty is top of my Xmas list 😍
Wonder when it’s released in the UK 👍🏽
Saw one in my local gunshop two weeks ago, seems wierd to get it in sub12ftlb in my opinion but yeah, felt good.
@@d4ngru5h83 totally agree, I’ve got it upto 50ft/lb and it’s slug on slug 100yrds all day everyday, take the plunge my friend you won’t regret it 🙌🏽
@@TMAdventuresT7 was actually at the shop buying an FX dreamline lite anyway haha, also a nice gun, lot lighter weight too
@@d4ngru5h83 excellent choice , cannot go wrong with the FX range, all the best Mac 🍻
Great video, already looking forward to getting mine.
At what distance where you shooting at? Great videos by the way
Great review. I would have liked to see that amount of wind drift difference between the pellets and slugs.
Hi which one is better fx impact mk2 or new fx maverick?
