Couldn't be more excited!! Veteran AoS player here, so just pointing out a few things I saw:
1- Chef's turn 1 combat phase, Beard uses All out Defense on the marauders on foot and also on the horsemen. Command ability use is very restricted in AoS: you can only issue the same command ability once per phase, so he couldn't use All out Defense twice in the combat phase, even if it's different units. Additionally, each unit can only receive or issue one command ability per phase, which you've been doing correctly.
2- Chef's turn 2 shooting phase he mentions he cannot shoot his draconic flame into the marauders because the are in combat. In AoS you can shoot into combat! The only restriction is that units in combat can only shoot at units they are in combat with.
3- Chef's turn 2 combat phase, the Knight Draconis can still pile in 3" because he made a charge move, and then maybe reach the horsemen, depending on his weapons reach. With a 1" reach weapon (which is the minimum) that means that charging models have effectively a 4" threat range. It's only if you haven't charged that you can be left out of combat by removing all models within 3".
4- Chef, if you are already within engagement range (3") you cannot charge, as you are already in combat. Section 11.0 on the side note: "A unit cannot attempt a charge [...] if it is within 3" of an enemy unit"
5- They are Vindictors not Vindicators!!!

Also, monstrous rampage does not require a charge move, you can do it if you are within 3" of an enemy unit. To destroy terrain piece you don't even need to be within 3" of an enemy unit.
Great points. I was going to say them myself but saw your response and now don’t need to. I’d also say that it was a slug of a battle because both teams choose anvil/screen units and need some hammers. Annihilators with grandhammers, fulminates or maybe some vanguard raptors would have added some dick to those balls 😂
Great points. I've noticed another thing: Beards Horsemaster (Marauder Horsemen unit champion) is armed with an axe, whereas the rest of the unit is armed with javalins. While certain unit champions can get another weapon (the flail on the Doomknight for example), most cannot. In this case, the Horsemaster should also be armed with a javalin, or the whole unit with axes.

I've noticed that Beard has armed the Doomknights with Ensorcelled Weapons. The Doomknight can either have the Cursed Flail OR the same weapon as the unit (in this case a Cursed Lance). He does get one additional attack though.
Also a some tactical advise for Beard: as the Chaos Warriors get a +1 to their save with 10 or more models, you generally want 1 unit of 20 instead of 2 units of 10. This way you don't lose the better save after only 1 model dies.
Good to see Beard taking this opportunity to step outside of his comfort zone with army choices.

As an AoS player, I was literally counting down the days until this channel was ready to put out content for my system. You guys have a phenomenal format.
Thanks for doing AoS guys! You did a very good job for a first game and managed to cover a lot for beginners with good explanation. 40K should learn a lot from 3rd edition AoS. A much less convoluted game which I hope 40K lives up to in 10th.
Amen. Loved the accessibility of 8th but they've made 40k more and more obtuse and wordy to appeal to the competitive crowd.
I love AoS but 40k is another beast and I hope it stays more true to its roots and don't get as stream lined as AoS is..

PS : the dragon, and any other unit, can pile in if it charged, you don't need to be engaged to do so (only if you didn't charged) !
Between Demi-gods with Heavens-wrought weapons(Chef: "Yes!") and Angry men with a cleaver from their naans' shed, the angry men don't fare as bad as one would imagine.
I've been waiting for this! Note for chef, the master of the celestial menagerie has been faq'd so it can only be used on a behemoth, not a monster.
For beard, I suggest that with with slaves to darkness, and more specifically the ravagers legion to use more than one hero. Slaves are a very herohammer faction, it would allow you to make a much better use of your chaos marks.
Tips for Beard:
-Chaos Knights with lances can be petrifying on the charge if they’re being buffed with the MOK as they get re-rolls to hit when within range of a hero with MOK or re-rolls to hit and wound if they’re within range of a general with the MOK
-Explore the other marks in general as they’ve got a lot of utility on other units e.g MON or MOT on Chaos Warriors etc
-Get a Chaos Sorceror Lord as it’ll give you spellcasting ability and a free +1 save to a unit each turn with his Oracular Visions ability (not a spell)
-As Ravagers you can summon a unit of Marauders for each hero that you have as you can just swap whom your general is…..so many heroes = many free units for board and objective control

Admits upfront that their new and will probably get some stuff wrong: one of the main reasons why I watch these guys and not the other Mediocre War Gaming channel.

Hey chef at 35:30 when you selected your knight Draconis to shoot whit.
You where actually eligible to target the marauder as your knight Draconis, even if the marauder where stuck in melee. Being in melee do not prevent them to be targeted by shooting attack.
As in Sigmar:
When making a range attack you can alway target a unit being in melee.
Only a unit in melee/3 inch or less from an enemy model, cannot shot at an other target but can only shoot at the melee unit with them.(special rule may affect this)
But except that really nice game love too see you guys finally joining the fun!
Welcome to the Mortal Realms guys! Very excited to see you here. Great army choices too, Stormcast are one of my own armies and i've been playing them since AoS first started back in the chaotic days of no points costs for units and armies being matched by wound count. Those were dark times...
Did note a few things through the game that could be improved on, but they've mostly been listed by other commenters so i'll bring up the one that I haven't seen anyone mention in detail.
6:03 - Master of the Celestial Menagerie does not do that anymore. It did when the 3rd edition book came out but was nerfed shortly after for being too good. Now it only gives -1 to wound to BEHEMOTH units, which is a unit type rather than keyword, and your Knight Draconis is not one. Easy way to remember this is that every behemoth is a monster but not every monster is a behemoth. Sadly the Stormcast only have two kinds of Behemoth units, the named Draconith characters Karazai and Krondys, and the Stardrake units. Only they can benefit from MotCM.

AoS is in a great place right now in terms of external balance, so I’m really looking forward to following along with your journey in learning the game and expanding into current GHB ‘22 matched play rules. Lastly, we’re all lucky to have your skill in content creation directed at some AoS content. Can’t wait for the next one!

ravagers is easily the most old school S2D subfaction, and I ADORE maxing heroes when I can with it.

Two notes on Unleash Hell; As per the Redeploy Command Ability (8.4) you can't shoot after redeploying, which means no Unleash Hell after running away. Also, Unleash Hell has been FAQ'd to be within 3" instead of 6" (which had no effect here, but good to know for future).

Amazing how durable things seem as opposed to 40k where armor saves are made up of dust in the wind after being smashed by AP -2 and up everywhere.
It's my favourite thing about AoS. Outside of fighting huge monsters, combats can last a good few rounds so you have to weigh up whether you can afford to throw a unit into a protracted fight.
Between the comment section and you actively learning as you play/enjoy the game; this is such a great learning tool

if you squint real hard, the purple and fluorescent green makes the Stormcasts almost look like Skaven, and this pleases me greatly, yes yes!

Nice to see AOS battle,i recently started it too,its a simpler system than 40k,but with many familiarities.
One small remark to Chef,its not 'vindicators' (that is a tank from 40k :P ),they are called vindictors :)
Beard did finest hour on the general and charged the liberators... then used all out attack (now+2 to hit) vs (-1 to hit) so he was +1 not even on the attacks.
Finest hour doesn't give +1 to hi, it gives +1 to wound and +1 save
I once played against that Stormcast with the explosions on 6s with my Clan Pestilens Skaven. Pestilens Plague Monks have the exact same rule on their banner which allows them to explode on 6s when killed in melee. On top of that, my Plague Monks were given Death Frenzy, which allows them to fight on death. I think we got up to 4-5 trades back-and-forth of explosions and fights on death before the combat finally ended.
First thought would be beard pooped himself by taking ravagers but only one hero whose his general so no summons!! Have waited for what has felt like a lfitime for you guys to start aos content and its amazing! Can't wait for more!
Also you can shoot into combat! but if you are in combat you can only shoot what you are engaged with!

They changed Master of the Celestial Menagerie in an FAQ. It now only effects Behemoth Monsters. So Lord Celestant on Stardrake and whatever his bad version is. If you take it on a Stardrake general it can also work for Krondys or Karazai in your army.

Awesome battlefield and beautifully painted armies make a great game to watch. Keep up the good work guys. Also at 35:31 Chef states that you cannot shoot into a combat with a ranged attack which is not true for AoS. You can always fire into enemies engaged with your own units and take no penalty. You can also use all missile weapons on enemy units engaged with the firing unit, but must target enemies that are engaged with you, again no penalty to doing this.

As a matter of AoS strategy, always remember that he who double-turns can be double-turned right back. Tempting as the double turn may be, you only want to use it to delivery a crippling blow. Otherwise better to leave it looming until a more decisive phase of the game. Good fun to watch! Chaos Warriors versus Stormcast is as iconic as it gets!

I'm a Sigmar veteran, i got some sigmar videos of my armies, i dont have a crew to run battle videos with but am inspired by your battles, i also play Admech and Tau in 40k, but Currently exhausted from 40k's 9th edition, 10th edition looks promising enough, im feeling the vibe shift of Age of Sigmar until then for the current wave of warhammerismz atm!
I am still clueless, but that wa fun to watch.

Great game guys. Can’t say any mistakes that haven’t already been mentioned. Message to Chef: when you pick stormcast lists you want to make sure you have some hammer units as stormcast has a shit ton of damage potential. I’d suggest looking at annihilators with grand hammers, fulminators and vanguard raptors with longbows. The units you choose were pretty much all either screens or objective holders which is why you got the impression that stormcast didn’t have much punch

In AoS 1.0, I think the Purple & Gold Stormhost was called the "Lions of Sigmar", but they never got any special rules (just mentioned in lore)

Beard, you need a chaos lord on karkadrak. He's amazing and works very well with the chaos knights. Then I usually run a chaos lord on foot with the chaos warriors. He can give them the ability to attack twice
