The one suggestion I would make is to do a single line of stitching when you sew the bars in. When you have to take those bars out of the leader, it’s a pain in the butt to rip out all of those stitches in between the metal bars, believe me. I took them out because I had the original smaller ones, and they didn’t work for me.
Thanks for this tip, we can definitely understand making life easier to rip out stitching if you were going to change the magnets. Though we are confident that we won't ever need to change these out... they are SUPER strong! :)
you can get the name tag magnets for less. They are smaller and it takes more but the price of sew tites is not in the budget. I got about 20 for $5 online
When you placed the plates, they were pattern-side up on the back (not printed) side of the leader. When you loaded the quilt back fabric, the magnets were applied to the right (printed) side of the leader. Does it matter? Initially you said it was the pattern side of the plate that was supposed to have the magnet attached. When you attached the fabric to the far (top) leader, it was to the back (not pattern) side of the leader. If it is just a steel plate, it should not matter.
Hi Kathy, the reason for the pattern on the plate to provide extra grip. But like you say it is encased in the the leader so it doesn't really matter what side it ends up on. Regards HH Team
They come from America so it is the terrible exchange rate that brings up the price. They are a premium product with very strong magnets designed to hold the tension of the quilt and not slip.
They are definitely a pricey product and can understand that they are not within everyone's budget. But they are extremely well made, top quality and the magnets are super, super strong, which is what we need to ensure all our layers stay together on the leaders. We hope you find a leader system that works well for you that you can invest in. Happy Quilting.
