    Thanks for the tutorial on this, my problem is that the glue is coming off of the rail, with the velcro so I need to replace that before I can do anything. Any suggestions on that? Tia

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  3 дня назад

      I recommend contacting your dealer, or contacting Grace Company directly for new velcro so you can reattach your leaders. When you place the velcro on, make sure to burnish it - rub something over the surface like a plastic spoon so you can apply pressure and get the glue to really stick.

    Leah, Thanks so much for all your hard work. I do have a question. How do you cut the Red Snappers to the different sizes?

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  Год назад

      Yes! I will cut the pieces down if needed to be the right size. That’s how I create the lengths for the sides of my quilts - that’s a 15 inch long tube and two of the 6 inch clamps. You can cut the clamps too with a sharp knife- just be careful!

    Can you tell how hard it it to get the red snappers under the idler bar, also how best to get the stiffness out of the new snappers

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  4 месяца назад +1

      If you don't have enough space for the Red Snappers to fit through, pull your machine forward (off a ruler base if you have one) and if you need to, raise the height of your back rail just a bit. I found it was a tight fit, but it would go through the space. If I was thinking about it when preparing my backing fabric, I would cut the backing longer across the top so I had more space and could keep the red snappers on the back side of the Idler Rail.
      As for the stiffness, just using them for lots of quilts will get them looser and easier to clamp.

    I just watched your video which is wonderful. Unfortunately I have a Cutie frame. Can you think of any way I can adapt the red snappers so I can use them to load smaller projects such as a crib sized quilt? Thank you for all the work you put into these great tutorials.

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  8 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately all Hoop Frames aren't really compatible with the Red Snappers. I tested extensively with the Q-Zone Hoop Frame and Evolution Hoop and Cutie and found the Red Snapper tubes made loading more difficult because they extend beyond the sides of the frame. I know - I WISH they worked, but they just don't help with hoop style frames.

      @jmsva6914 8 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the quick response. I hoped I could save my fingers from the pins. I wish Grace would produce a 7 or 8’ hoop frame so that we could produce at least a crib or throw quilt in one pass but still be able to make bigger quilts in a smaller space.

    I just bought a Continuum 2 frame and am learning how to load it. Seems like everyone has a different way! How do you make sure your backing is square? Do you have to make sure you have a straight edge to clamp on both cloth leaders? Thank you so much!

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  Год назад

      Yes, you are correct, there are a lot of different methods and a lot of different ways to attach leader cloth too. Just try a few different methods and find what works best for you. As for straight edge - rip your fabric. That's the easiest way to ensure the edges are straight to the grain of the fabric.

    Thank you! I just love your videos!! I have learned so much from you! I do have a question….as usual 🤦‍♀️…..do you float your top or use the big clamps? I tried to find a previous video but couldn’t find what I was looking for

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  Год назад

      I do float with the Quilt Clip clamps, but most often these days I baste the three layers together from the beginning. You can see a video on the process here - leahday.com/blogs/machinequilting/load-your-frame-for-pantograph-quilting-quilting-pantographs-1

    I am new to quilting on a frame and just bought a Q Zone Pro. I bought the Red Snappers to use with leader cloths. Now I can't figure out how to attach them. Can you use the Red Snappers with the Q Zone Pro Hoop Frame? Thanks so much for the videos. I have watched quite a few already :)

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  Год назад

      Yes, you can use the Red Snappers with Hoop Frames, but it isn't my favorite setup. You will need to stitch your leaders the same way I show in this video. In your case you'll be stitching the edge that doesn't have the thick rope. Then insert your rods and clamp the backing fabric. The only downside is you'll still need to pin your batting and quilt top. I have a loading video on this here - ruclips.net/video/E5EKq0CwpVI/видео.html

    You are an inspiration and a great teacher. I have a question....Do you prefer the Red Snappers or the blue Grace Quilt clips? ( I am upgrading to a 10ft Continuum II from a Hoop Zone Pro)

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  Год назад +1

      Both! The Red Snappers clamp the backing fabric to the leader cloth. The blue Quilt Clips allow you to clamp the quilt and float over your top front rail. These two products do different things so they are not a case of either / or - I use both every day and you can find them both on my website - leahday.com/collections/grace-machines-and-frames

    Leah, what are those cabinets or drawers under your frame? I looked on the Grace site and didn't see them.

    • @LeahDay

      Those were IKEA Antonius organizers I found in 2012. I believe they still have a similar mesh organizer system available, but a little different from what I have and under a different name.

    I have SR-2 frame. Will red snappers work with it as well? Tired of sticking my fingers.

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  Год назад

      I believe the SR-2 Frame was another name for the Q-Zone Queen Frame which means it's a rolling rail frame and yes! The Red Snappers should work great and save you lots of time! leahday.com/products/red-snappers-longarm-clamps

    Do you trim the extra length of tubing that sticks out from the gusset? Mine are too long....

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  9 месяцев назад

      Yes - a clean cut with a sharp pair of scissors can cut them down. I would leave at least 3 inches extending on both sides so they don't slip back into the leader cloth gusset.
