I'm want to load in the clear view system. This is very confusing watching both systems at the same time. I am a new HQ user and this is my first load video. I'm going to look for a specific clear view load video.
I had hoped this would be more of a step by step instructional video of the close up view on the how to’s of loading the quilt. I feel like the instructions got lost when she wanted to turn this into a speed contest on who could load the fastest. I had to look fo another video to help me understand better.
I have learn all over again to do my simply sixteen thank you it help out a lot. I hard learn on my own. The lady i bough it from 2 hours from me never show me much i had learn from your video. thank you/
I usually enjoy HQ videos but this one is very frustrating. If I knew how to load this would be fun. I bought my Amara online so the videos are the only way for me to learn. I’m overwhelmed by the machine and I don’t think I’m alone. Please redo and make how to load more clear.
Is there a separate video for each of the 2 loading methods? Switching back and forth in an instructional video (between the 2 loading methods) is a bit (actually very) confusing to a newbie like me. Thank you so much.
This is a great demo! However, I thought that at the beginning you mentioned you would tell us about the frame parts. I didn’t hear anything about the parts for clear view loading. Can you please tell us about that?
If you used fabrics that had an obvious top and bottom it would help. On the screen it just looks like it is solid color fabric and can't tell what you have on the top.
The backing fabric should be right side down just as it would be in a finished quilt. The top should be right side up just as it would be in a finished quilt.
I am seriously thinking of purchasing a used Avanti which has an 18 inch throat. I was looking at the Amara that Kim was using and although it is 2 inches wider than the Avanti didn't look like it had much quilting space. Can you help me with my decision Kim? Does size really matter? I will be a hobbyist but am open to a part time side gig if I have the skills.
I have an Amara and only ever loaded the clearview method as I use rulers all the time. I love it. I was wondering if anyone would could tell me why my thread breaks every time I try to quilt straight lines backwards from right to left across the quilt.
I had problem similar to what you described. There was a part that was incorrect and technical services took me through the process and have not had a problem since.
Crafty Gemini commented that she used to have this problem all the time. I believe she said the fix was a needle with a larger eye. Search for her videos on the Moxie. Or, it might have been Leah Day. 😬 Memory’s shot!
I too wanted a more step-by-step clear instructional video on loading. While the friendly interplay between the hosts is nice, it was distracting to their instruction, distracting for me, and how I'm in search of a better video.
I purchased my Forte and Gallery 2 Frame this summer and am just now wanting to do more FMQ and ruler work. I watched this video to learn the difference between the 2 views and how to switch between the 2 views but then when I went to switch between the 2 views on my frame it won't budge. When I reached out to my dealer they basically said I'd have to (almost) dismantle the frame to be able to switch between standard and clear and that I agreed to standard view at the time of my set up! Can someone help me understand why it is so simple in the video demo but my dealer is saying I'd have to dismantle the frame to switch between? Very frustrating!
Hey Ms.Flynn--Vickie Hoth of HQ has a really good video on loading in clear view and she explains directional alignment. My understanding is you want to load the quilt how you want it to lie on the bed as you face the quilt from where the backing and quilt top poles are. Hope this helps...
I would like a clearer video on the pinning part. I'm finding it hard to figure out how to hold the leader and fabric together while trying to pin through them.
Why in the world would you race to do this when you are supposed to be teaching? I wanted to see how the clear view leaders were attached and that was not shown.
Sam, Do you load in clear view when you float your tops? I prefer to float my tops as well (and use snappers). I’m still semi-new to my amara (switched from Gammill) Thanks
@@sharonk1805 Yes clear view. I just upgraded to this new frame too. Clearview is better for the ruler work. I do pantographs in clearview with a floating top as well though.
Brand new Amara 20, 12' frame owner, being delivered Dec 2023. You are not even 30 seconds into the video and are using terms I don't understand. sigh...... so frustrated. What the heck is "standard view" or "clear view"? They start out saying that they will tell you the difference between the two but DO NOT define the words.....so frustrated.
A new video on this subject will be airing Dec 19!! With your frame, there are two ways to adjust the sidearms to load the fabric. One way is a little easier for access to your bobbin area. The other way is easier for doing ruler work. Both ways are great and it is a personal preference as to which way you choose. It will make a little more sense when you have the frame set up and see how it can adjust.
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you!
I think this was very helpful having both versions side by side.
Thank you for your feedback!
This was very helpful! Thank you!!
Great video! I enjoy the comradery between the two!

I agree. This video was no help at all!!!
I totally agree. I'm going to look for a clear view load only video.
I have learn all over again to do my simply sixteen thank you it help out a lot. I hard learn on my own. The lady i bough it from 2 hours from me never show me much i had learn from your video. thank you/

Love the cascade dance, Johnny!!
Hahaha. Thank you Kim. -jb

We have added that to the requested videos list. Thank you!
I have a longer than king size. Please do a video on that
What machine/frame length are you using? What are the dimensions of the quilt?
This is a great demo! However, I thought that at the beginning you mentioned you would tell us about the frame parts. I didn’t hear anything about the parts for clear view loading. Can you please tell us about that?
Please...a simple tutorial with close ups, straight explanation and no fluff. Your videos on loading are the height of frustration!
And PLEASE don't use a solid fabric since neither mentioned which is top side of the top and backing. Think of beginners.
That is a great suggestion. We will work on getting a better video created.
You mentioned that Johnny has the taller frame. Can you demonstrate in a video how to raise a frame to a taller height?
If you used fabrics that had an obvious top and bottom it would help. On the screen it just looks like it is solid color fabric and can't tell what you have on the top.
I watched the video and am trying to load a directional front and backing. No help at all
Looks like a lot of work!
Where do you purchase the wrist pin cushions?
They are not for sale. Sorry!
when you load the backing, does it get loaded with right side up or down?
The backing fabric should be right side down just as it would be in a finished quilt. The top should be right side up just as it would be in a finished quilt.

How are the leader on a clear view?
All three poles will have the leader come from the front, over the top of the pole towards the back.
When you load in clearview the direction of leader flow looks different. I don't see the cascade like in standard load. What is the difference?
I have an Amara and only ever loaded the clearview method as I use rulers all the time. I love it. I was wondering if anyone would could tell me why my thread breaks every time I try to quilt straight lines backwards from right to left across the quilt.

The pins are always on the top of the printed side of the leader, correct?

3:08 how can you tell if you're pulling the quilt too tight on the longarm
One way to test it is to push a finger up from the bottom of the quilt. You should be able to grab to about the first knuckle.
@@HandiQuilter I also wondered how tight to attach the side clamps. Do I pull them tight or just attach them to keep the quilt straight
Do I pull the side clamps tight on the long arm or just attach them to the sides of the quilt
I agree with comment 71
I like those side bins hanging on the end of your frames. Where did you get them?

Hi Jane. Have you worked out this problem yet? Feel free to call Handi Quilter and talk to our Technical support team to get some assistance.
very frustrating to be showing 2 methods. I am trying to load directional top and backing. very confusing

The link to “products” doesn’t work.
you're using plain fabric so it is difficult to to tell whether the right side should be facing up or down
I would like a clearer video on the pinning part. I'm finding it hard to figure out how to hold the leader and fabric together while trying to pin through them.
A new video will be airing next month. You can also watch some of the getting started videos for various machines. They show the process as well.
In your hurry to beat Johny, you didn’t explain the direction you put the top on…for those of us haven’t done clear view
Would be a good video if it was the the guy, not the woman butting in continuously couldn't listen to too much of that!
A little too much kidding around and false starts.
Why in the world would you race to do this when you are supposed to be teaching? I wanted to see how the clear view leaders were attached and that was not shown.
You cant see anything in this video ….
She rolled to quickly and incorrectly...your suppose to go slow and keep working BOTH ends!!
do these as separate videos; confusing going back and forth...not fluid
Hahaha silly. I only float my tops and use snappers. It takes minutes to load not half an hour.
