Appreciate the amount of thought and organization that went into your two videos. Will watch again because there is so much information to absorb. Thanks much and take care.
Personally I love seeing all of your projects! They are so beautiful and inspirational! Your conversational manner makes it feel like you are here having tea with me! It makes me want to try some new yarns and new patterns! Thank you for sharing!
Your items are beautiful 🎉. Clearly a labor of love. But that’s why I’m going to buy a loom. To achieve close to what you have produced. It will be my labor of love 😊
Hi Kelly Thank you, I really enjoyed the video. I think I could listen to you all day. I not only love your voice but I enjoyed all of the information and talk about yarns. Your silk work is really beautiful. I have had my rigid heddle a couple of years. I have made many things such as table runners, towels and simple things like that. I feel like I could use some lessons to refine my skills I am interested in taking one of your classes but I just need to do it when I have the time. You will be hearing from me again, hopefully soon!! Many Blessings to you and your family. Thanks so much, Lisa Dolan
Just found this video. it was helpful. I'm currently weaving a Krogbragd project. The warp is 20/2 cotton. My tensions loosens when my heddle is in the down position and I thought it was something I did wrong when putting the warp on the loom. It was good to hear you say it is an issue with this kind of yarn. This was all helpful information. Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to make the 2 videos talking about yarns. I have just bought a rigid heddle loom and found the videos very helpful. I enjoyed the relaxed style too.
I appreciate your rundown of the various yarns. I'm not really a scarf person. I'm always hot, and the place I live doesn't get snow. That leaves pillows, table linens, towels, etc. I enjoy weaving but often would like to imagine a good reason for my hobby. So many such things can be bought cheaply at the store.
I just finished both of these videos while working on a Bargello quilt. I've been a Quilter for 10 years and am craving something new that gives me items I can use daily (wear and work items). I think weaving may be my next adventure. Thank you for all of your information and kind guidance.
I would love more classes on color and i think the pattern you did on the 8 shaft would make a lovely skirt or dress fabric. This video came in handy today as I'm a new weaver and have recently warped my RHL with acrylic yarns and have been struggling with it. I think i used the wrong heddle and the yarns kind of stick together. Oh well. I hated to spend the money on wool when I'm just learning. ;)
This was an absolutely amazing video...I have been thinking about exploring weaving because it is all so beautiful and I just learned to spin last year, I'm so drawn to the fiber arts it just seems natural to go on with weaving..I learned so much from this, thank you so much for putting so much into it to share with us!! New sub and IG follower!
Hi Kelly I bought an Ashford 16" SampleIt Rigid Heddle a couple of weeks ago. I'm brand new to this, never done weaving or spinning and haven't knitted anything for 40 years! Loving the weaving - partly inspired to take it up by an Anni Albers exhibition - and finding your videos really helpful. The informal style is great. I'd hoped to try the pattern for the garment you're wearing in the films but see my loom isn't big enough so I guess it'll have to wait 😔. Thank you and please keep them coming!
i just bought a 'toy' rigid heddle... its wooden 20 inches and came with 10 dent reed. the draw shafts are tiny but this lil' guy is my new buddy! your videos inspire me, i get too excited, I've beat yarn once and already I'm pretending i can weave a poncho for myself. haha.
I’m just learning about weaving...my loom is on BO so I’ve been absorbing all the information I can until it arrives. This was very informative and I thank you for helping a newbie.
I would use it in a vest. The front two panels made of this lovely fabric and the back of a plain colored fabric. The lovely paterned fabric could be lined to maintain its pattern.
Wow had no idea about all that yarn info I think I would use the purple dish towel maybe for a table runner like you said and maybe you could use that same pattern for a scarf or maybe a blanket
Great videos! I have lots of cotonlin and have been working on bands. Now I have the problem of what to do with the beautiful bands. Thank you again and keep up the good work!
HI Kelly, All of your projects are so beautiful and I love how passionate you are about weaving and your projects. I am learning so much from you and enjoy these talks. Regarding your classes I wanted to know if I have to keep up with a group or can I work at my own pace? I am also a little technology challenged and sometimes can't get things downloaded. I did learn from you how to use a pick up stick and used it in a washcloth I was making. Now I am going to make your "Wash Your Hands" towel to go with it. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful talents.
I think the snowflake-like pattern with the floats would probably make a very nice piece under the Christmas tree, surrounding it, perhaps in red and white instead of the purple
I have been watching your videos most of the day today. They are wonderful. You have mentioned double warping. Do you have a tutorial showing how to do that?
I'm glad you're enjoying them! I have 3 double weave classes, each one is a little different depending on what you want to do: Weaving with Two Heddles- kelly-casanova-weaving-lessons.teachable.com/p/weaving-with-two-heddles/?preview=logged_out Doubleweave Baby Blanket- kelly-casanova-weaving-lessons.teachable.com/p/doubleweave-baby-blanket/?preview=logged_out Hope that helps!
Sew up a square basket, one large enough to hold a batch of biscuits. Use your towel for the liner and to fold up over the biscuits to keep them warm. Would really be pretty for that and would keep your biscuits warm for quite some time. I do it all the time. I do it for corn on the cob too and it keeps it hot longer. Just an idea.
So enjoyed the “chatty” type videos. I was commenting like you were just going to up and comment back! 😉. Very informative in a casual way. Although, you’re videos are always full of info!! Stay healthy and safe! Thanks!!
very interesting- having brought the 8/2 cotton for the Fibonacci t-towels I was interested in that cotton. Would also be interested in what more I could make with that cotton, without having to buy much more as it can be expensive.
Hi. I know this video is a year old but, the last towel you made with the purple and white pattern is beautiful. 😍 I think it would look great as some sort of garment. Maybe a skirt or something. By the way, love all your videos they are so Informative. 👍🏾I'm also very new to weaving.
Hi Kelly. Thank you for the detailed video. Very informative. I particularly like the silk scarfs. The bamboo scarfs look very drapy and beautiful too. Can you please tell me what yarns (and weight) you used for the wrap around scarf you are wearing in the video.
A mix of bamboo and tencel, both 8/2 weight. The class is available here if you're interested- kelly-casanova-weaving-lessons.teachable.com/p/clasped-warp-quechquemitl/?preview=logged_out

Excellent Video. I have experimented with many yarns. After viewing this I probably will not use silk. I like pearl cotton in towels as an accent. Pearl cotton does not absorb water like mercerized does
I was fascinated by these two videos. As a new weaver with a rigid heddle loom, I feel lost with the variations of yarn, so thank you. The project I am looking to do when I have a bit more experience is to weave some cushion covers in cotton (it wears better than wool) I was hoping to find some advice on cotton weights and heddle size to use. Can you help?
Yes, I'm happy to help 😊 I do have the Weaver's Toolkit, which includes yarn sizes and heddles, if you're interested: www.etsy.com/listing/819827549/weavers-toolkit-digital-download-ebook?ref=shop_home_active_4

Thank you for this very informative video. I just purchased my second ridge heedle loom at 32” wide and I have an extra heedle in 7.5. The Ashford loom now comes equipped with the double heedle brackets. I wanted to work on a poncho that was in issue 30 of the Wheel Ashford’s fibercraft Magazine. It calls for using hand spun yarn, which I was glad for now I can use the yarn I spun in merino wool. Unfortunately I don’t have enough for the whole project and found in my stash a beautiful solid Uru.yarn from KNITCRATE colorway Enlightened a stunning teal/turquoise in 85% merino and15% silk. It is a DK weight yarn. Would this be ok to work with? Also, can I combine fingering and and DK on the Warp. I planned on using a fingering for the Weft. Thank you for your help, Amy Sceri Queens, New York
Hi Amy, Yes, combining these would be fine, just know that if you have different weights of yarn in the warp that these may stand out as lines or texture the end fabric a little. Could be quite interesting!
@@estellelace3402 Sorry, I realised I didn't answer your question properly! The 60/2 silk I wove at 40epi on my floor loom, which has a 10 dent reed. I sleyed 4 threads per dent 😊
@@KellyCasanova Hi Kelly, When you say you "sleyed" 4 threads per dent does that mean that the 4 threads become like one? And related I think. If you figure that your set should be 20 and you have a 10 per inch reed, would you sley 2 threads per dent to get 20? And then the 2 threads are like one, ie the weft thread is going around the 2 (or 4 as in the silk example above) as if they were 1, right?
