Omg whaaat, yarn is so expensive in the US 😨 If you ever come to Mexico I will take you yarn shopping here, you are gonna be impressed of how cheap the yarn is here ❤
im from mexico too and i know!!! when she said $40-$50 i was so shocked lol, in mexico the most *expensive* yarns are like around 100 pesos which is equivalent to abt $5 usd, the cheapest ones are only around $1 usd
The 50/50 yarn you bought in the last store are 2 types of sheep breeds. So it’s 100% wool but real yarn fanatics tend to have sheep breed preferences since the wool all has different properties😂 Anyway this was so cute!!
The Eat Sleep Knit store you went to is actually the warehouse( nice I know) those are the yarns that they have in their website as well. I go there all the time. Love that place. The lavender is used to keep with your yarns to keep bugs away. It works! I’ve lived here over 10 years and you’re telling me about stores I’ve never heard of. Wow! Thank you!
Independent yarn shops are so fun but mostly out of my budget lol. Last time I went to Turkey on holiday though, i went looking for yarn shops because so much of the stuff I see at home is made in Turkey. And I got like 11ish skeins/balls for about £25!
That first mohair slub yarn was so expensive cuz some in part of the mohair mix but also THAT YARDAGE holy moly 460 yards could make many projects, especially pared with a plain neutral yarn for patterning 😍
@@anht8305 right! i think she missed that. it's two 400+ yard skeins, so like $28 each which is around what most indie dyers are asking per skein anyway
As someone from the UK yarn seems really expensive in the US, but I may just not be buying expensive yarn. The video was great and all the yarn looks amazing!
I think the UK has a better homegrown supply of wool than the US -- even though most of the UK's best wool is sold abroad for various textile manufacturers, surely some of it must be available locally, too. The US imports most of its wool with all the extra costs that come with that.
I'm not very far into the video but omg the editing quality is so good i love the little graphics of you on the map! You have genuinely become one of my favourite RUclipsrs over the past year so I'm excited to see where this new year brings us :)
The one problem with a well stocked yarn shop is how overwhelming it can be to look at everything and decide on purchases. I love that you did this trek😊
Corriedale and polworth are the breeds of sheep used to make the yarn super wash is a process done to the yarn that makes them machine washable without compromising their natural qualities and also means you don’t have the worry of shrinking or felting
Yes, i bought the Emma yarn. It’s 2 skeins- one mohair and one slub. You hold them both together and the fabric is amazing!!!! Thanks for taking us with you! Angora is so beautiful! Sending 🧡 from AL.
Don’t know if this is helpful, but that Emma’s Yarn Mo’Slub (the yarn you really liked from the first store) is a pair of two skeins sold together. It’s a 50g skein of mohair & a 100g of 90/10 wool. That being said, i get it, it’s still over budget. The first time I heard of this line & saw the price I was like…. Mmmmmm…… & it wasn’t until I looked into it & was like two skeins…. Got it! Great video. Take care, Anna
Yes, every time i go to an indie yarn store i am overwhelmed by how many beautiful yarns there are and how little money i have for buying them lol! I spent about an hour looking around the last place i went in Chicago, and i still spent twice my budget lmao 😅 Btw polworth and coriedale are breeds of sheep! I really love when commercial yarn brands use wook thats not merino! Biodiversity so cool as heck!
Thank you for posting. Your videos are very comfortable and always so nice to watch. Havin a bad day so no videos seemed interesting but then here you came ✨🖤
GA native here! May I recommend UNWIND in Milton next time you wanna go out yarn shopping! It's my go to place if One More Row doesn't have the yarn I'm interested in!
Aw, I would love more videos like these! So relaxing, and as someone who usually goes overboard on yarn shopping, I think 40$ will be a better budget to limit myself to lol. Something about your videos honestly just makes my day 100% better, you are such an inspiration 💖 🧶
Wow and I thought wool is expensive in the UK and I am talking about £12 - 10 for one ball of wool. But the wool you were buying must have been double that for one ball of wool!! Loved this video though and wish there were more wool shops like this in the UK. Most wool shops in the UK are tiny and hard to find down cobbled back streets, which is aesthetically pleasing but not big enough.
Great yarn shops and some really nice skeins you chose! The Briggs & Little yarn is a great find; it's a long-standing mill here in Canada and the yarns do start out rough and a bit scratchy, but they're great workhorse yarns. The more you wear them and wash them--using a good wool wash like Soak or Eucalan--they get softer and as long as you keep moths away, you'll have the item(s) almost forever.
Hey! I’m a fairly new subscriber and I just wanted to say how amazing your work is and I’m shocked on how expensive yarn is where you live!! Your projects are brilliant and I can’t wait to see the new videos to come ❤
Thanks for taking us with you! The 2 lys in my area closed over a year ago and traveling to the city next door isn't feasible right now so this was a treat to see your shops
I almost missed this video, but it was very enjoyable, so I hope you do more of these when you visit other cities. Perfect for crocheting while watching ! Thank you :D
I tend to go for the larger skeins (450-1,000 grams) because I do larger projects (cardigans, dusters, afghans, rugs). Plus, there’s something about paying less per skein but getting way more yarn for your buck.
This was so fun to watch, I love when you create but it was also cool to watch your mini road trip and you made a whole day of it. 😬 the budget issue is real lol it happens to the best of us, spend more than we intend. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad you made this video!! I’m also in Georgia, and last year I actually dm’ed you when I was starting out crocheting asking about where you got your yarns. I love One More Row and Eco-Friendly Crafts (especially Knit and Purl!!!). It’s also crazy looking back and reflecting how long I’ve been following you, your videos continue to inspire me 💛
I absolutely LOVED this video. The editing was fun as well! I hope you take us along your next road trip to independent yarn shops. Thanks for sharing!
such a cozy video! i wish i could one day go on a trip like that too. also, i love yarns like the "dragon" one! i already have a half-finished sweater made out of one like that, it can be a little bit annoying to work with, but the results are so worth it
If you want to visit more yarn shops, I recommend Strings and Stitches in Ellijay Ga. Their prices are what you'd traditionally pay, but they have things for other projects like Eco-Friendly Crafts and they also have classes in there. They are so friendly and are so happy to sit down and help you figure out gauge and visions of projects to make sure you get the right yarn that you enivison.
Oh my goodness you are too cute! Love your personality! Expensive yarn makes beautiful drapey items. You can't get your projects to look like that from yarn you get from joannes or michaels or hobby lobby.
i love this video!!!! you just give me so much inspiration and motivation, even with small things. your vibe is really cute and unique. i enjoy watching your videos, it calms me down when i crochet...or play the sims... ;)
This is great, I moved to atlanta a few months ago and have been wanting to check out some yarn stores in georgia! I went to the craftivist the other day, it's a small shop but they have a decent variety of cool yarns, worth checking out if you're ever in the city :)
Yeaaah. I was looking into knitting my own socks and nearly all the non joanns or michaels brands were $30 a skein. When you said your budget is $40 a store, I knew that wouldn't work XD. But, that wasn't too far over budget. Nice job. Can't wait to see what you make with the yarns
Omg no way ! I’m in metro atl too and I’ve been really wanting to do more than just shop at Joann’s and Michael’s all the time! You actually planned the perfect road trip for me!
I wish I had some local yarn stores! We have big box stores and a local alpaca farm that sells yarn, but that's as much as I know. Those yarns look so cozy!
I just wanted to say that just because you could’ve asked, I still feel like it’s not cool to not have sales prices because a lot of people deal with social anxiety and having to ask how much something is in a store is frustrating and scary and I see it all the time and beauty supply stores, and I will not buy something that does not have a sale price as I’m not finna get up there and ask why how much is this. It’s always been a small dream of mine to go to a little yarn shop but I feel like a lot of these places are going to be so pricey so one day but not today 😂
I live in Lawrenceville and I recently found Eco Friendly Crafts and I love it there! I did my first youtube video on a yarn haul from there last week! I'll definitely have to visit the other shops in this video! Thank you!
I really liked this video -- this is the first of yours I've seen. Excellent editing and nice peek into these LYS. Eco-friendly Crafts sounds super cool, but One More Row would probably be my favorite were I local. Thanks for sharing your shopping trip with us. Have fun with your new yarn!
These LYS's had some good selections. La Bien Aimee has some really nice colors. I'm waiting for her free shipping sale so I can stock up. Buying La Bien Aimee in the US can be quite pricey.
The book store by the yarn store has an entire wall of bodice rippers and dungeon where they keep the sport and sci-fi. I don’t like the books there but it’s fun to visit
17:25 I went on their website and it didn't say where it was made, but going to the "Stores Near You" section brought me to Switzerland, so it's probably made in Switzerland.
That $56 yarn was two skeins wrapped together fyi. Maybe one day you could learn how to dye yarn! It’s soooo much cheaper than getting it already dyed. The 50/50 yarn you bought in the last store are 2 types of sheep breeds. So it’s 100% wool but real yarn fanatics tend to have sheep breed preferences since the wool all has different properties😂
Anyway this was so cute!!
So true. Just bought 2 similar mixed yarns and despite the similarities, they are NOT working together (personally 😂😅)

Umm, is yarn REALLY cheaper overseas? Cause when you figure in travel expenses (flight, hotel, meals) are you REALLY getting a deal on that yarn?
@@msschonheit6800I get your point, but I didn’t go abroad to yarn shop lol. I was already there so it was an added perk.
