I don't think Tempest Axe is going to be replacing Abs Readiness, Energy Charge and Demon Riot for Striker. That is the DPS setup. Hack and Slash only really works well on downed monsters whereas sword swings with the infinite Charge/Riot combo work everywhere. With this new art there will be a rise of upswingers who will annoy me greatly just like those GS upswingers...
...Striker switch axe was already the best(out of SA styles) in Gen. Demon Riot, Energy charge and absolute evasion allowed you to keep white sharpness 100% and demon riot 100% uptime

SA and DB are amazing, Brave LS looks crazy fun, HBG, LBG, and Bow are all completely bonkers with Brave Style... looks like I'll be using all of them

Trance Slash was already the strongest Hunter Art in the game. It does an absolutely insane amount of damage at level 3 with Demon's Riot and Tempest Axe.. but you deal like 4-5 times as much damage against weakpoints with Weakness Exploit and Critical Boost.. This is also the issue with the double slash, even if I have it on a style l I almost never use it unless I'm running low on sword gauge. But then the Tempest Axe attacks are actually pretty precise and have really nice reach. Trance Slash still good you just can't expect to hit weakpoints with every hit. If you have a big hitzone with decent values it's worth using or you can just go for the YOLO Trance Slash as a monster as getting up and try to chain some staggers. Aerial Switch Axe with Tempest Mode is definitely my favorite. Just switch to Axe Mode for mobility and Tempest Axe during downs. You don't need Energy Charge and Tempest Axe ends up dealing more DPS than sword mode without Demon's Riot.

Wow, that's game changing for me here are the reasons why. I practiced Axe in 4U because me and my friends challenge each other that 'play the weapon you never played before.' At that time, I used SnS, LS, and Bow, so I choose Switch Axe After I remember all combo and controls, I ended up give up on Axe with these reason 1.I got used to the SnS, LS, and Bow, so I forgot to sheath the weapon before running after monster, and Switch Axe does walk slowly. 2.Because X+A move is good move and combo connection, I ended up sent my teammates fly (a lot...) 3 and 4 are this Hunter Arts change everything 3.Axe slashes are quite slow and if you don't equip Evade Dist, repositioning yourself is almost do nothing when slicing middle of the monster's body (still getting hit when monster tackling or dashing). May be because I used to LS so I connect combo and hope slide repositioning will result the same as LS fade slash. Now it fast and make me goes for combo a lot faster 4.I kinda suck at switching weapon mode, I used SA with only Axe and change into Blade only when I find and opening and shoot down the Burst. So here is the Axe over Blade player, this art is awesome. Same goes with Chage Blade I used in 4U, to me it was SnS with Ulti (LOL), when playing Gen, I give up on CB because if red shield charge must be done in Axe mode.
*Heavy breathing* As a Switch-Axe main who wishes Axe mode got more love, this one single Hunter Art is practically enough to make me want to buy this game (Along with Barufaruku, but ssshhh), just the idea alone gets me all giddy and excited as heck! I do wonder if you Adept Evade with this Art activated that you do the new Super Chop Combo Finisher, or if you just do the normal finisher? If you do get the Super Finisher, then I will definitely select this Art one when using Adept Switch-Axe.
Man, I feel a bit sad I dropped Monster Hunter in cross. I love SA Axe mode and used it a lot in 4U. Hopefully the next game will be more suited for me..

Doing the super-ultra-triple-art trance slash on a monster with a huge weak point like Nakarkos is hiiiilaaarious.
