Brave CB really is as close to a return to CB's glory days as you can get. In some ways, it's even better. That dash evade with a guard point is absolutely insane! You can KO or kill monsters simply by evading. And then you take into account how awesome they made the axe mode! Very exciting.
really, the only thing "missing" is the quick way to super and ultra bursts, and that kinda did need a nerf. on the other hand, blue shield and side dashes in both modes are just as good as "compensation" can be
From what I've seen, Brave loses the mini-bursts on guarding and guard points. All KOs will come from Shield Thrusts (in Brave mode) and Elemental Discharges.

in the italian version we got it quite bad with names. The switch axe is the "spadascia" (sword-axe). The problem is that in 4u you the charge blade became "spadascia caricata" (charged sword-axe). So it's a bit annoying when you talk and say "i love the spadascia" and the other one asks "wait, normal or charged?".
Hey Gaijin, I think it's worth noting for future reference that the shield thrust allowed a shortcut into a legitimate charged slash in Brave mode from the way it looked in the footage. It's a bit strange, but it makes you wonder whether it's the only shortcut in Brave mode or not.
Just a note, Aerial CB got some tweaking and it's pretty amazing and you can go to Red charge in mid-air and do regular slams like usual by pressing A and go all out on your phials with X+A. There's a lot of potential for that weapon style.

DeadStar Actually you can't. If you have only 1 Hunter Art, you have to use the touchscreen, you can't use the ZL and ZR for the Hunter Art. Hunter Art 1 is always the touchscreen, Hunter Art 2 is ZL, and Hunter Art 3 is ZR. you can't customize it for styles that offer less Hunter Arts.

I couldn't really get into Generations. I personally didn't care too much for the new styles. I'll still get MHXX if it comes to the west though. I'll try getting through it again. MH4U remains my favorite so far.
Just a typical RUclips watcher No, in Gen it got nerfed to just slightly better than Gunlance, which is at the bottom of the tier list (just above HH, which I fear will never leave the absolute bottom of the list). The weapon is clunkier now, and has strayed away from what it was advertised to be. Brave is a step in the right direction (and is very very fun), but it is certainly not as good as MH4U's CB (which was objectively not overpowered based on tier lists and community usage statistics).
Krallen _ Boy, you're dumb CB is still one of the best, with faster attacks in sword for element and status, and slower higher motion value attacks in axe mode, not to mention in striker you get 20 percent more damage in axe mode for ALL attacks. CB is harder to use but still has very high verstility, with GP and smooth combos.
AxeDoesStuff You call me dumb yet you've not refuted my point about its standing in the tier list, which is about as accurate of a way to judge weapon viablility as you can get. I don't care what your opinion is; factually, it was nerfed to bottom tier in Gen, and unless you have some magical knowledge about the weapon to completely decimate the current speedrun times, I'd suggest not trying to argue against it.
I feel like with stiker stlye it isn't that bad. Limit break 3 with Energy blade 3 allows huge damage. Then use 10 phial ultraburst to get the art almost recharged.

Darkmenon We'll probably hear about it for the West sometime in the summer with a release in Fall. it's only been about 6 months since we got Gen so they don't want to announce it too soon. Plus it's not even out in Japan yet.

Well geez, thankfully it has the shield thrust, it's one of it's most unique and iconic moves for me. Definitely the most fluid this weapon's ever been.
One thing that has been noticed so far is that the ultra blast has its awsome impact damage back so is almost like a one hit KO once again wich I really miss in generations cause the ultra es kind of useless in that version, the tweaks and improvements on existing styles sure are great things that will make XX the best monhun so far in my opinion, hope to see your weapon guides soon Adam, take care.
I haven't been keeping up with MHXX news, so this is the first I've heard about them fixing the ultra burst. That's good because I was one of those people who abused the Ultra burst quite a bit back in MH4U. It was always so satisfying, especially with elemental weapons. Fire elemental weapon? Flames (not explosions) erupted from the ground. Felt and looked good!
To anyone that has played the demo I have to ask: Does Brave Charge Blade feel gimmicky or does it feel fluid and satisfying? Btw. Great video, Gaijin. Your voice is so smooth. ;)
It feels fluid and satisfying definitely. It's a little odd to use at first but another level of technicality shouldn't be a problem for old CB users. You can transfer to the brave stance almost instantly after an upward slash which makes it even more fluid.
Does the Blue Shield Charge give you the same Reduced Knockback and Reduced Sharpness loss like Red Shield? Also what happens when you try and do a shield charge? (like red or yellow)
The main thing i miss about CB from 4u is how you NEEDED to hit R+X at the perfect time to guard point. to me, simplifying that kinda weakened how advanced it originally was, and how advanced i hope it was meant to be. Brave CB looks nuts though... i just wanna see some buffs for the monsters besides just G-rank. (Hyper Elder Dragons, Double Deviant quests in the arena (dreadking and queen in the same place, hyper), hyper deviants, a huge buff in monster AI... or something, idk. i wanna get rekt so hard in mhxx that i almost feel like i have to use Adept is what i'm getting at.
if you fought rank 10 dreadqueen in X, you would have to deal with both of them at once if you didn't finish her off fast enough - now that was scary, of course you still had to finish the king off afterwards regardless.
I feel the same way, brave is very fancy and high damage/dps but if you want a more streamlined defensive/survivalist load out adept is what I would choose. But I'm going to give brave a try either way :)
I think the charge a attack can be charged at the end of an x combo. also, you can go from a Phial charge into a double Phial attack instead of the level 1.

I am trying the xx switch Japanese demo and I could not control the charge blade very well like just random things where not working it keeps over charging the shield when I try to super and stuff like that I went and tried 4u on my 3ds and everything works like muscle memory is there options to fix this?

I saw someone complain about how the Chargeblade shouldn't have a guard point with the evade because it doesn't do anything. But doesn't a charged shield do damage when you block with it?
I don't like the styles that much, because the controls often change. So I often just play guild style. Maybe when XX was announced for the west I'll just focus on 2-3 weapons to use more of the styles...
If it's consistent with long sword (similar mechanic, no sword levels outside Brave Mode, but permanent blue inside), it'll be a stronger version of red shield.
Azphreal You're wrong on all fronts; LS can level up its gauge with Sakura Slash outside of brave (in brave you only get blue), Blue Gauge for LS is weaker than Red Gauge (1.2 compared to 1.22 iirc; the calcs are out on Reddit), and Red Shield is stronger than Blue for CB.

In sword mode with brave meter the charged A attack can be used after a shield thrust. X+A > Hold A.

CB in italian was translated as charged switch axe (in italian spada ascia caricata)
To y'all whose still wonderin', you can charge slash right after the shield bash in brave and you'll get red philes with just one slash.
SA is called "Morph-Axt" (Morph Axe) in the German localization.

With Brave CB, you can go to Axe without Brave stance OR Brave mode. R+X+A with draw attack.

from what i could tell you could renew the bar so you could theoretically stay in brave mode the whole time a monster is in the area.

every dodge has i-frame... its been there forever even without dodge +1 but just very unforgiving in 0 dodge

What's the difference between brave and valor? Been watching a lot of videos and they both look the same.

My guess would be the same level as Red. Apex Gaming made a comment about the Guard Points still providing burst damage, so I guess Blue shield is the same as Red. If Blue was stronger than Red in terms of all round physical attack power as well as burst and KO, then we'd have another OP problem on our hands.
Is the ultra still nerfed in the way that an ultra does only damage equal to half of the total phials plus 1?
do you get evasion+1 with the brave evade?
