  • So if you've seen any of my other videos you'll know that I'm in the process of moving house. This video was shot on the last Monday I spent in my flat. It was the last time I would ever conduct my cleaning routine in the flat so I thought I would video it! Also there's something very soothing about watching a speeded up cleaning routine! This took me about 40 / 50 minutes in total and before moving I used to do this every single Monday before work. The rest of the week the kitchen just got messy lol! All i used to do was wash up through the week!
Here is the routine in list form:
Wash up, dry dishes and put away
Using clean water, wipe down surfaces and dry
Apply cream cleaner to the hob and let it sit a bit to dissolve any baked on dirt (I used the pink stuff because it's amazing and cheap but there are plenty of others out there)
    Clean inside microwave and dry
Put away coffee and spices all of which creep out of their homes throughout the week
Empty toaster crumb tray and give it a gentle shake to dislodge other crumbs
Wipe down outside of microwave and kettle and toaster and dry
Wipe down extractor fan hood and front of oven and dry
Clean dish drainer and draining board and sink and dry
    Rinse hob and dry
Dust the top of the fridge
This is my usual weekly routine, and later on in the day I dust any other furniture in the kitchen and hoover and mop the floor. This doesn't mean that the rest of it is permanently neglected. I find inside my oven doesn't need cleaning weekly nor do my cupboard fronts or inside my cupboards! I have a task list of fortnightly and monthly jobs that I do on a Friday and those things are on that task list.
Finally, I think you can see I pretty much just use hot water and washing up liquid, I find this is enough, also I don't like using chemicals on surfaces that will have food prepared on them. I use a tea towel to dry most things, but you'll see me using a green cloth now and again. This green cloth is a ‘glass cloth’ and it is hands down one of the best cleaning tips my mum ever gave me! You can buy them cheap enough from most supermarkets. They are used to clean and dry things that you don't want lint and streaks left on, so they are perfect for black shiny surfaces, stainless steel, glass etc I don't use mine to clean only to dry and polish a surface after it has been cleaned. I cannot recommend this cloth enough I have like 4 of them!!
And that's it, simple but effective! Guess I'm going to have to come up with a new routine for my new place!
