@@WestsideBarbellOfficial hi I bench raw when I'm using my leg drive my quads get very sore I'm doing something wrong .what may cause excessive sore quads while benching?
Great video! and it brings back so many great memories. What people fail to realize is that the time spent in that gym with the crew didn't just teach you how to be strong, it taught life lessons that you carried in to all aspects of life.
Alejandro Sanchez the clowns who critique westside are clueless. These guys wore gear once a month training so out of 16 training sessions they wore gear for two of those.
@@overtenemy69 for real. I don't mind constructive criticism, but at times people just like to insult them. many other popular programs were born from the conjugate method. is it perfect? may be not but 150+ world records and only gym to have both raw and gear total?!! hard to argue that
overtenemy69 the people who criticize westside blindly follow 5x5 and also wear those doughnut stretchy pants and have never done a impressive list in their life, or they're Chad Wesley Smith
PlutoTheGod which is funny because westside uses the 5x5 too. I mean the programs was built for the lifter which is why there is no set template written in stone
I love this extra content. Thank you westside barbell. Thank you Louie, and Tom, for setting up this idea on your DVD series. I hope someday to see a new revised version of all of them. I hope westside will coment on all the videos.
That story at the end shows Louie's true brilliance, the ability to plant that small seed in ones mind that blossoms into beast one day, a master of psychology.
That was awesome! Please do one on the old squatting secrets tape with Chuck and Mark Borda speed squatting in the rack with Louie and Matt Dimel spotting.
@@lynnbarker4791 hell yeah I use to rent the original version tape over and over from the Columbus metropolitan library..it was one of my favorites . Watching Matt dimel pulling a 900 lb rack pull
Thank you for doing this! Love to see more of this. I know Louie isn't into doing this stuff but he's knowledge is golden. Thank you Lou. You've inspired millions. Your proof we can keep going no matter what circumstances we are in. No fukin excuses ☘️
Any advice on when it's impossible to find a great training partner. I live in the middle of nowhere in the Scottish Isles now. And there is nobody who wants to train hard and consistent. I've never been able to find a solid training partner. My partner is my rack barbell and of course safety pins. I make the best with what I got. Those raw numbers are insane. People talking shit about geard lifting clearly have no clue. I've never trained in gear. But I'm becoming way more interested in doing so. Especially since I've completly torn both pecs. Anyway thank you again 🙏
@anonymous pity there's no real lifters around much places. I already press 400 a few times a week raw. I have a sling also for overload days. I was looking into getting a bigger shirt or grab the black sling. 315 is relatively light for me. Interested to see how I could manage some equipment by myself. Can never trust people. Been through 100s of lifting partners. Nobody lasts more than a few weeks. Typical lol. Thank you anyway brother.
Louie is yoda...sorry for my bad english but i am not american...louie really knows everything about this sport...scientific approach...big heart and ball of steel...westide guys are awesome..they train hard and they are best in the world..gear or no gear...strong motherfuckers...greetings from croatia
I'm actually really really grateful I watched this. I've always thought people did that to prevent wear and tear for the aging athlete, or formerly injured athlete; I didn't really know how effective it was at making gainz, Thanks!
if you are a begginer, then the answer is BENCH MORE. This applies to all things you are starting out with. You have so much room for growth starting out and the best thing you can do to get stronger in the bench is to bench more
Damn im trying to soak all this info in. I bet my brother i could bench more then him in a few months. Hes 15 years younger then me and has about 25 lbs of body weight on me lol
I love how Louie can real of stats about everyone he's ever trained
Yoda Simmons knows all!
Thank you for your comment!

Lol, i was thinking the same thing. I had a wrestling coach like that, except is was about wrestling.
he kept a small circle of dedicated people
because he actually cares about bettering others
Louie is like the stat king! Reeling off everyone's numbers! What a coach!
@jesust760 and a shit they couldn't give.

Thank you Kenny!
I like how he mentions their raw bench. They get unfairly criticized for wearing gear but they can compete with the best raw lifters

What's on the bookshelf behind the interviewer?
All those books made Louie smart. Did he have a reading list posted online anywhere?
He has a long list of books that he mentions on his podcast. Supertraining is one of them but I love his books and everything he talks about

Selling tons of patented equipment

Louie, you are the master. I would love to hear it from you. How often should I bench and or do a push workout?
One day a week for maximum effort and another day for dynamic effort.
How to increase arm strength for bench press for begginers?
Diamond/Close grip pushups for beginners.
Extensions and close grip bench

... Raw.
Andrew Collura benched 650 raw on his tip toes without even training for a one rep max
