They don't know anything about strength conditioning, different techniques that are just as important as brutal strength. They don't know about mental war that you wage within yourself, just to break away frim those I can't do this doubts....Those mfkr's will be first to run their mouth....majority of them will close their argument yapping about education.....or read a book comment....without realizing that there are hundreds of books written about powerlifting...and that different peoole have different interests and goals....and that right there is a true definition of ignorance.....

    Louie is special because he not only knows how to get strong but also how to rehab lower back disc herniations. In the mid 1980's he hurt his back so bad he needed crutches to walk. Look at him today, still dead lifting and squatting. His philosophy and technique regarding lower back rehabilitation and the reverse hyper machine is revolutionary. It has helped many people far beyond just weight lifters.

    Louie for sure is a motivator, trainer who provides the gym environment for World Class Powerlifting for geared and un-tested lifters who need certain PL Feds to compete in; but doesn't represent all PLs and Feds in fact with the major surge of Raw lifting, geared lifting (drug tested or not) is dying and the fans are dwindling faster. I recall going to meets in the USAPL where you would have people wearing Westside t-shirts, training in that mode, etc. but in the last 7-8 years I cannot even say I recall seeing one Westside t-shirt or even anyone bringing up Westside anymore.

    The guy who revolutionized training in powerlifting and simultaneously destroyed the sport at the same time by popularizing having guys wear so supportive gear that it ends up doing up to 40% of the max effort. ...not to mention the start of awful judging and passing any lift regardless of hitting parallel on the squat, proper pause or locking out the bench. 1. Multiply canvas suits are helping these men lift this weight. These suits are so strong that on a squat you won't be able to sit down unless you have at least 100kg on the bar.
    2. The judging for these multiply competitions is shady at best, every movement is altered to shorten the range of motion to ridiculously low ranges while simultaneously using techniques to get as much support from the canvas suits as possible.
    3. These men are on a sick of amount of drugs
    4. Louie didn't invent the conjugate method
    5. Louie is a fat meathead who just name and number drops as a form of communication

      Thats the thing about westside though... their guys are the most dominant in the field they choose to compete...its not like they all tried raw and didnt make the cut, theyre just not interested in it...the few raw guys like Burley Hawk are already knocking on the door of all time world records. did he use as many bands, chains or boxes as the multi guys? who knows, thats not what westside is about, theres no one cookie cutter program its doing what it takes to be the best. in a way all the lilliebridges, rubbishes and other great nonwestside lifters are still following the westside mentality...accept no less than no. 1. (also i will say that on deadlifts alone i can think of no other program with such results. single great lifters have programs that work for them and all the best of the best pullers have designed their own programs that work for them, but no other lifting team has had such success AS A GROUP meaning like 20 guys at that gym pull over 800. my state, RI, has one retired 800lb deadlifter lol)

    • @warjostrongman
      @warjostrongman 9 лет назад +1

      no i agree with you... plus when im not competing in strongman i do multiply powerliftinging so straps and a suit with the straps down do not diminish halsl deadlift whatsoever for me. i just think that no one training program has produced the best results for such a large group of people. Hall, Lilliebridge, Coen, Konstantinov, Bolton, Benni, they all are at least as strong as westside guys if not stronger, but the program theyve developed works just for them, its individualized which is what i think all the best athletes wind up doing. However Hall, Bolton, and Benni's programs i dont think have been proven as effective for athletes other than themseves (ie they have not produced a gym full of 900-1000lb deadlifters)... still i agree, the "by the book" westside method (de lower and upper and me lower and upper, lots of weird exercise variations) actually does not work optimally for my self, as a natual lifter my body cant handle 2 lower workouts per week, also i need more practice in the actual lifts, i cant expect to just box squat and board press and have good meet results... still those are my weak points (precise form etc), and all westside is is bringing up weak points. in that regard most of the best lifters atleast train with that mindset even if they arnt "westside" per se

      +Felipe Bonatti People who are not in to powerlifting dont know what the hell multiply means. That's kind of the problem of bringing new people in to the sport too when it becomes complicated with all the gear and so on. But to be fair, it was still 1200 lbs resting on his back, multiply or not that is fucking insane.

      +ytrewq089 Sheiko Programs comes to my mind as another system that has produced many WRs and so does the RTS from Mike Tuchscherer, when talking about producing world class lifters. I even think Sheiko has better results than WSB and LS and he is now the trainer from Kirill Sarychev (new All-time WR RAW Bencher). Sheiko's results: sheiko-program.ru/sheiko-students-2/sheikos-champions/medal-tally-of-sheikos-athletes And from what I see, IPF (raw and single-ply) circuit is WAY more competitive than the Multiply federations. Just food for thought, but I agree that it's a really good system for Multiply guys, but it isn't the best and biggest system producing WRs IMHO. I would say Sheiko has best results than LS in a more competitive federation.

    • @gregallen9065
      @gregallen9065 6 лет назад +9

      Raza they were doing box squats and they use different height boxes. The biggest thing about the WestSide method is to never do the same lift twice in a row.......you can vary the height of the box just like you vary the number of boards you use on
      the bench press. You can get really strong pressing off of say 3 boards in the bench press, for example say 400 lbs, and as your strength grows you are able to do it from 2, then 1 then with out a board. It is really about training all the different motions and depths of a lift. I am sure he can squat to depth but with a slightly lower weight. Those guys are not about coming in and "ego lifting" every work out.......as in the actual competition lifts......they are about improving their competition lifts with these type of lifts and accessory work.
      Back in 2004 I used some of their methods in my lifting but I am raw and drug free, but still, training my lifts in the different ranges and also using chains and bands helped me tremendously. I got up to a competition (paused) bench of 540 lbs, but I weighed 295 lbs so really nowhere near what the roided and the geared guys can do. Still, I was not willing to roid for health
      concerns and personally, I am not a fan of lifting with gear like bench shirts, super suits, etc. I respect the geared lifters, but I
      am and have always been a RAW lifter.

    • @matthewfrancis9237

      @Ivan Dominguez that's rediculous. If you love something, you want it for as long as possible and want to give it your best everyday. Not give it so much it kills you. And I am a strength coach, I have met Louie, and highly respect him as a professional powerlifter, and not going to get into my feelings except to say, that his statement as to "when I die the club dies too because noone is capable like me or has my mindset" is sad. All those athletes hes "trained" and not one of then he feels confident in their mindset or ability enough to let them carry on his legacy, methods, and mindset to future generations of powerlifters? Sounds like something's off about that, and a waste. And why has noone "got his mindset or capabilities"? Didn't he train them? Or did he just handpick "the best", in his opinion, and give them a key to his gym. Many world records come from people that have never set foot in westside barbell. Teaching someone to lift is different then coaching someone to lift, and if you teach them they should do it the way they were taught and therefore be able to teach or at least demonstrate it to others the same way and convey the mindset behind it. Lifting has many good techniques, some of which are in use is gyms everywhere like Westside, but proper technique is subjective as to which is right for each lifter based on many factors. Body type, body structure, individual leverages based on structure, past Injuries, recovery protocols, DIET, sleep, hydration, etc. If a coach, trainer, or teacher to say's, "my way is the best and only way, and I'm the only one that can teach it or gets it" my opinion is that is dangerous and I would again ask them "why is that?"

      Lolek Bolek On most lifts the weight I toss compared to body weight is fairly impressive for your regular 9to5 natural serious trainer. However if I was on gear, breaking records, working my ass off all day every day and at the same time looked like them I would be pissed. To each there own but it just seems like your giving up a lot of mobility/endurance and setting yourself up for heart problems in competitive powerlifting. All that said its impressive that my big ass could be doing a 1rep max pr and those guys could come and squat the bench with the stacked bar and me still on it.

    You know what would really humble louie down a bit? If his crew went to compete in a raw meet in the IPF/USAPL, that would REALLY humble him.

    shit, were those girls the interviewers? They look great. Also this was a good video, well edited, long enough, but short enough that it didn't drag on.
