    Thank you for your tutorials. I have been trying to knit a neckline using the holding position. Though I wrap the needles I still have holes in the knitting. Please could demonstrate this technique.

    Hi Claire I've had a brother machine since 1991, but it's been in my loft for 26 years. I've just got it back out . But can't remember how to do a rib, without using a ribber . Can you please show me how the simple way, thank you,

    • @clairenewberry7388

      Hello joy
      So glad you are machine knitting again.
      If you don't have a ribber, drop every other stitch (but do this one at a time) and then, using the lachet tool re form the stitches and rehang the stitch on the needle. You should have a right side facing stitch. Do this on every other needle.
      OR
      Leave every 3rd needle out of action. Knit double the length of rib required. Pick up your cast on stitches and rehang them back onto the needle that is directly above it. So you are making turned up welt, rather like the bottom of a t shirt hem.
      If it flips up after pressing you can improve it by going slightly tighter tension on the first part of the hem ( the bit that gets turned up).
      Give it a steam to flatten it slightly.
      Hope this helps
      X

    Hello ! I recently bought a machine second hand and it's perfect except for the fact that the Russel levers are missing on the carraige ! Do you have any advice for me ?

    • @clairenewberry7388
      @clairenewberry7388  Год назад +1

      Congrats on getting a machine. I've never had this so not sure how to advise you. Is there anyway you can get them replaced with somebody who services machines?
      I guess, in the mean time you could use your ravel cord to take the needles back to non working position.

      @Claire Newberry thank you for the advice! This is new for me as well. I'm not in an area where they knit unfortunately but I'll contact the Seller and see if they can do anything about it !
