This great-looking and superb flying Avios KingTwin 1700 sports/scale model is based on a small twin-turboprop and is very reminiscent of the type used by the military or civilian charter airlines around the world. The simplistic, yet striking color scheme depicts the type of paint jobs commonly used on civilian propliners.
The KingTwin 1700 is packed full of cool features including LED lights, retracts, and split flaps. The powertrain of 2 x Aerostar 3748-820KV brushless outrunners with Aerostar 40A ESCs was chosen by the Avios team after careful testing. This combination of motors, ESCs, contra-rotating props, and a 4S LiPo battery proved to be the optimum setup for power and duration.
The KingTwin 1700 has the ability to operate happily off of smooth, short-grass fields, and of course hard runway surfaces. The split flaps enable scale take-offs and landings, and the daylight visible LED lights add that touch of realism.
For transportation, the outer wing panels feature a unique latching system that allows for quick and easy assembly and removal. This system also includes a quick connect/disconnect plug and socket for the servos and LED lights. Throughout, the KingTwin 1700 uses the very popular and reliable Turnigy HXT900 servos - this is a first for an Avios model. Due to the low parts count of the tough EPO airframe, and being PNF, the KingTwin 1700 is very quick and straightforward to put together, most of it has been pre-assembled at the factory.
The Avios KingTwin 1700 is fantastic to fly and looks brilliant in the air. It has excellent low-speed handling, and at speed, it really grooves and locks in. It's a real pleasure to fly. This impressive twin-engined model is a worthwhile addition to any modeler's hangar for its looks, ease of assembly, and excellent flight characteristics.

Nice that they showed the hard landing too. That was a good stress test for the chassis and it probably held up. This is often an annoying weak point in foam models and can spoil your day of flight. To be honest, I'm already impressed by the model.

Jeff, that is one beautiful plane. Thanks for sharing. I also love that you have a grass runway, which I am always curious if a plane can handle. @@JeffsCustomRC I have a few Avois models and these are usually good quality. Not sure about this one though. Perhaps it was rushed to market. No props available already. There is a problem with the motor shaft (hex) and props (round). If I recall from my geometry classes, this is a formula for failure. How did you fix this? I would love to know. Thanks.

@@JeffsCustomRC I concur with you on most aspects of the plane. I am just having problems with the props seating with the motor shaft (hex). I will fix the problem with new Master Air Screws and modify them to fit the hex shafts. I am fairly god at making modifications for my planes. Just though you might have some ideas and that is all. Thanks.
You might want to re-consider buying this one. It has a few issues.

Looks like it may not be the best for grass? Love the plane though! That last landing wasn’t terrible and looked like the nose kinda folded a bit from the grass.
Did great especially considering that our grass which is normally perfect, was long for the maiden, rain here has really kept us from being able to keep it cut short enough quick

Hey…I used the admiral 600 with gyro receiver from Motion RC, as for rated and flap settings, I went directly by the manual suggestion and it was perfect, dialed in some down elevator with takeoff (10%)and landing flaps(15%) to prevent nosing up, thanks for watching 👊🏼

What sort of issues did you resolve before maiden? Your steering was no issue? How about the wing connectors? Mine had some issues with wing tip fit-up as well as lots of steering slop - on asphalt it was uncontrollable. In fact I see that yours also has that slop in the nose steering as seen on your second landing. This models as is is not controllable on asphalt - perhaps can do it on grass but the wheel keeps tipping under as noticed on your landing. To fix that you need to take the slop away from the linkage - I changed my steering rod to solid with no shock absorption loop as well as upgraded to a metal gear servo. (Corona 939 analog - exact fit with a small 100mm extension).
Hey…be sure to check the steering clevis, mine was broke and didn’t know it until I really looked and saw what was going on, it’s hard to get to but fixed the problem
Hey Jeff, great video. You have earned my subscription and likes. I would have liked to see them put functional landing gear on this King Air. It may have prevented the bending of that starboard strut. Here's my question, do you think it's possible to add functional landing gear to this model? There are many types and sizes of landing gear units available now. I'm wondering if you think it would be possible to do a customization like that. Thanks!
I think it’s quite possible, I do know that the nose gear can be replaced with ether Freewing Messerschmitt retract and strut for a nicer and more stable steering gear, as for the mains, some customizing would be needed but very doable, it’s a great air frame, and flys amazingly well. The Rc jet jock has done a mod on his channel as well pertaining to this very subject, thanks again for watching 👊🏼
Whats yours and others oponion on the nose gear? I've seen a lot writing about the problems with the nose-gear pointing forward, and not slightly backwards...
Never had a problem with it, jet needs to landed on the mains first, then touch down nose, great flying jet 👊🏼

New is right and with many issues that need fixing. I have one and know it does not represent past Avios models in quality. The concept was good but quality is lacking here. Poor testing before release. Save your money folks.

That Plane could use a little more paint and flair added to it in other words its too White especially on the wing.

@@JeffsCustomRC i do customize all my planes little by little but rather just fly them than work on them instead.
Bit pricey for a foamy though it is fairly big I’ll give you that and though I know it’s pre production model but you saying we should check screws and solder joints when we get the production model doesn’t really inspire confidence. I would really expect that this should be sorted before selling them, don’t you?
To me the canopy sticks out like a sore thumb from the foam and the landing gear doesn’t appear to be very robust either, that was after 1 flight and it was bent? Or maybe several but it does look that robust.
Pre production model I know but it doesn’t impress me much.

Most foam planes these day of this size are far more expensive, I can name many and from several different companies, if you do your research you will agree. There are always things that have to be sorted out with these planes and jets, hence the reason they let us find the issues, which are found in many models that are released all the time, another reason companies send out servos ect. after “WE” the customer find out there’s a problem of even destroy our model. This is truly an impressive plane from Avios, at least in my opinion, considering I own many planes from many companies, none are perfect all the time. Thank you for watching 😬
Thank you for the comments I have maybe a dozen foam planes and yes a couple of them are similar size to this and they were about the same price.
One was a little bit cheaper and the other was maybe £20 more expensive.
Both FMS models.
There are a lot of other planes about the same size that are a lot more expensive I will concede that.
I hope they sort out the problems before they sell them.
