You'd just see a few "You're goddamn right" or "He can't keep getting away with it" memes here and there, or maybe a gif of Walt from Ozymandias every now and then. Why now? What sparked this huge upsurge? People who haven't even seen either show are making these memes

Dunkey is pointing out the things he liked and didn't about the game. Obviously there's pros and cons in his mind, both of which he goes over in a fair amount of detail. Does he need to slap an IGN 7/10 on it for you to get anything out of this review?

Yeah, i love Dunkey, but sometimes he complains about totally stupid stuff. The roster of Multiversus is amazing exactly because of the insane crossovers, nobody would ever imagine a game where Arya fights Bugs Bunny lmao.
It's much more well put together as a fighting game, but has a lot of crust around the edges that make it harder for the average person to pick up on top of having an unfairly high cost of entry.
Nick is slept on. It’s tighter and you can actually play 1v1. I don’t see any copy paste moves or anything in nick, but the only “flaw” is the initial cost for the game. this is FAAAR better than nickelodeon all star brawl. to launch a game at $50, when it's supposed to tout it's unique characters and IP, then not having any voice actors in the game until a year after launch is a huge oversight. NASB felt completely soulless compared to Multiversus
NASB had 0 budget and the devs did what they could with the bare minimum they were given. They have added in voice-acting in the current state. MVS just has a company willing to throw tons of money around to make their game succeeds, with tournaments getting massive financial support.
@@eu4um releasing a $50 game with a 17 fighter roster then charging for additional fighters as well is going to kill your game. blame nickelodeon for not giving ludosity a bigger budget. WB giving playerfirstgames a bigger budget doesn’t diminish their work or effort, WB just gave them a better opportunity to succeed. nickelodeon should’ve done the same instead of half-assing the budget and expecting broad appeal and success.
Shame that Nickelodeon had wavedashing and stuff, and all that stuff is absent from Multiversus Like it's clear one game cared about the gameplay and the other didn't
We need Elmer Fudd in this game. along with the Animaniacs, Neo from the matrix, Beetlejuice, Ace Ventura, The Joker, Dexter, Gumball, Mordecai, and Rigby. We also need Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Daffy Duck, Fred Flintstone, Jay Gatsby, Plank, Samurai Jack, Micheal Jordan, (because they already have Lebron so why not) The Atom, Willy Wonka, and Zorro. and this is just stuff warner bros owns directly
1:41 "Do children even know what Looney Tunes is anymore?" That sentence alone is enough to make me weep for this and future generations missing out on the golden age of kids animation. 70's - mid 00's.
same tbh this game is easier for me to play and i have more fun because i have a chance of winning whereas smash i get so unbelievably wrecked every game its just not fun no matter how much i practice😂
@@frostedmocha the opposite for me, i find Smash easier to play and win than this game, it's weird i see my moves connect but the enemy doesnt take the move, the character flicks in the screen, Batman is wonky and buggy etc
Thats where the problem is for me, when I play this game the matches seem somewhat even but only because neither player can comprehend what they are doing and cant hit half their moves. Compared to smash where i can actually formulate combos that I plan out rather than throwing out 30 abilities at once and hoping they connect
I didn't really expect to like this game so much, and I agree with a lot of the talking points in this video. But the fact that these characters are so in-depth and fully realized as their own characters is really incredible. They interact with each other when they get killed, they have custom voice lines for specific teammates and enemies, even the in-game text is in-line with what the characters might actually say. It's like the characters really just jumped out of their respective properties and just continued being themselves, which is really cool to me. Overall, I think if you're interested in this game, and you're between the ages of 7 yrs old to 70, you should definitely give it a try. And like dunkey said, it's FREE.
I'd say its great if you look at it as it's own thing, and it's just okay if you're specifically comparing it to Smash (aside from the wifi connection and price point aspects). It definitely has potential to get even better though.
What’s funny is I completely disagree with his assessment and still found this to be an extremely enjoyable video to watch. I enjoy this game far more than the Nickelodeon game, which to me feels really bland. Also the roster comparison isn’t exactly fair since smash lets you play as a naked hair witch with guns and beat up a gorilla and a 2d video game character that no one under 50 had heard of before they were added (Mr. Game and Watch).
Yes, but those are still connected by a theme and role. They're major characters of popular video games, which Smash is a celebration of. Multiversus characters are picked because Warner Bros thought "Eh, just put whatever we own that's vaguely popular in there"
hey i played the nickelodeon game on ps plus and it was really awesome and the gameplay was way better than multiversus. but i kinda prefer multiversus even when the hitboxes are garbadge. for example neutral down attack with bugs bunny has such a low range that its completly useless
The roster might be crazy incoherence, but at least they had the good sense to make them visually consistent. Compare to Playstation All Stars, where you had cartoony Parappa versus grim dark Infamous dude. I honestly think this is one of the top Smash a likes I've played thus far. Jump Ultimate Stars and Rivals of Aether still better, but it might get better.
its definitely going to get better. more content is coming in season 1 and the devs are always making improvements like fixing hitboxes. remember this is still in the beta
I actually like All Stars a lot more for that reason. It's a game where characters from different universes fight, they shouldn't all have the same art style. They should look how they looked in their universe, rather than all meld together into a weird cartoon.
Coming from someone who lives in the third world country known as Australia. It's nice having a smash type game to play that doesn't need me to sub to the worst online service available, ensuring every game will be a teleporting, rubber banding mess. Thanks for that Nintendo, very cool
I've put over 1000 hours into Smash Ultimate, many of them playing online with random and friends. I'd say roughly 1-2% of my games have any lag or rubberbanding whatsoever. That really sounds like a problem on your end.
@@343Films nah nintendo servers r trash and lag all the time for me too. I play via ethernet and when I did a speed test, the switch has a connection speed that is one tenth of the speed I get on my ps4/ps5.
Coming from someone who lives in the autocratic america known as china. We have fucking vpns made specially for game consoles so that you can play online games with people from all around the world with nearly no lag or latency.
I've been having a blast in this game with friends. I really like the focus being on 2v2 matches so we have to actually communicate with what we're doing.
That's always the crux of my Multiversus recommendation. Play it with friends and it's fun. The rollback is really good and its F2P model proves that this can actually work for fighting games
@@dyldragon1 i want multiversus to really lean into multiplayer. gimme a 5v5 rumble with a slightly bigger map. i want hectic yelling and frantic button mashing.
They definitely do- at least on levels of marketing and products like how most children know who Hello Kitty is. Might not have watched an episode but if they've been to Six Flags or walked down a Target t-shirt aisle they'll at least be familiar with them.
Bugs is in the beginning of almost every Warner Bros. movie. He's not a fucking character lost to time, same with guys like Daffy and Porky. Looney Tunes isn't a lost art, lol
"you can have solid snake vs banjo kazooie" "you can have Game of Thrones vs Stephen Universe, who is their audience?" Notice the only difference between these two is that when Nintendo does it, it's okay, this is a slight reference to how Dunkey is Nintendo's number one meat rider
I'd say this is far better than All Stars, and it's free, so that's pretty much a win-win. It focuses heavily on the 2v2 aspect and excels a lot at it because character combos have various different synergies you can play off of. This is helped by how unique every character's move set is. In All Stars, most of the characters reuse a lot of the exact same moves and animations, makes the whole thing feel very bland
Did you say that because you just wanted talk it done without actually playing it or did you say it in context that you mean it. did you know the devs of both games are friends. so its possible, that some characters will cross over between games
@@vinkennest3274 Well I've played both and can double down on what he's said. What turned me off from NASB is just how similar the characters feel and play. Not to mention the presentation is a lot more clean.
It’s not that they reused animations, it’s that they’re like 3 frames long because they don’t care if it looks like garbage as long as the characters have good frame data
Those are all good points that I agree with, but multiversus has a functional online, which puts it above smash by default since you can actually play this game
@@arglebargle5531 I mean. You are comparing a 60 dollar game with over 20 years of experience only playable in a single console and limited with terrible online servers versus a F2P game made by a studio with any previous videogame behind his back but with actual good online. If you want yo compare MVS with something, compare it with Brawlhalla.
Smash online works most of the time. But when it doesn't work it becomes like you're trying to record a stop motion video. Multiverse is just had some weird ass rubber banding, at least the match still ends quickly instead of taking all day. But the thing about Smash Brothers is it's meant to be played locally. If your friends haven't become so afraid of your power, they don't even want to fight you anymore.
@@JesusHerrera-rl2rx Funny enough, it does basically everything that Brawlhalla does right, but also has an actual budget. The aforementioned functional netcode, good roster, despite some questionable choices, gameplay's fun enough even with its weird jank and balance, F2P with all of the gameplay-relevant stuff eventually accessible without spending money.
So as a joke I said to myself, "They should add in Mr. Six from the old Six Flags commercials" Then I realized that's not a joke, he's actually in the WB family, they could probably get that IP pretty easy
A closer look could be if Dunkey is saying that Multiversus may suffer a significant drop in the playerbase over time, if WB keep a competitive focus rather than something that can be enjoyable for casuals. Buggs “git guds” Superman while he flying out, is an analogy of casuals quitting the game when they feel they aren’t skilled enough.
Dunkey. I’ve been a loyal fan for years. I was around back when Phantom Menace was being written on the cavemen walls. All your videos are mastapieces, though, something in my soul feels empty. Let’s rewind to, Star Wars: Attack of the Dentist. One of your all time best videos. This sole video has gotten me through the hardest of times. Whenever I feel like I can’t do something, I pop on this video once in a while and boom I feel like Jackie Chan. It was incredible. Better yet, you launched a sequel, Star War 2: Phantom Crentist, which turned out to be another mastapiece. The duo felt unstoppable. Surely we couldn’t wait for the third… It’s been 8 years. I’m now a grown man currently playing the new Lego Star Wars (awaiting your review on this). I’ve given up hope for Tar War 3: Revenge of the Mentist. It’s gone into the dark abyss of forgotten sequels such as Half Life 3, Battlefront 3, and Balder’s Gate: Dark Alliance 3. Your Lego Star Wars videos are some of the finest cuts of meat on RUclips, if Lego Wars 3 shows up in the future, I will be satisfied with the grand conclusion
Bugs Bunny routinely deals with people throwing guns and swords in his face. Steven Universe dealt with the emotionally disturbed members of a planet wrecking space empire. Arya's more likely to be corrupted by them than the other way around
My favorite part of Multiversus is definitely when Bugs Bunny calls Superman a “dumbass bitch” when he wins, causing Superman to fly away in embarrassment
Dunkey you will be regretting yourself when Walter White joins the battle

I knew this game was gonna be gone fast but coming back to this 7 months later and I’ve completely forgotten about this game. It’s fun to see I was right and the game died in around only 3 months 😭
Just like Nick Brawl 1, this game was not a finished product. Perhaps the story will be different when the game returns in 2024.
Thank you Dunkey, for letting everyone realize this game is actually bad.. or good. I actually couldn’t tell if you liked the game or not.
It’s okay. It’s fun but def not smash
Dunkey is pointing out the things he liked and didn't about the game. Obviously there's pros and cons in his mind, both of which he goes over in a fair amount of detail. Does he need to slap an IGN 7/10 on it for you to get anything out of this review?
What I got from that was, Hey it's a dumb game but it's also free so try it with a buddy and you may like it.

@@dontaericeart yea, its weird considering basically the same criticism is true of smash? like they're all video game characters, sure, and they're mostly kid oriented, but characters like snake and bayo are clearly very different. the only reason smash feels cohesive is because were so used to it
"This is like a roster of the toys i had as a kid" *meanwhile, smash, who's premise is literally all the toys of some kid being the roster*
Yeah, i love Dunkey, but sometimes he complains about totally stupid stuff. The roster of Multiversus is amazing exactly because of the insane crossovers, nobody would ever imagine a game where Arya fights Bugs Bunny lmao.
smash is rich kid toybox. multiversus is cable kids toy hamper.

Dunkey is the first person I've seen who seems to like Nickelodeon all stars over multiversus, which is both surprising and not surprising at all lol
It's much more well put together as a fighting game, but has a lot of crust around the edges that make it harder for the average person to pick up on top of having an unfairly high cost of entry.
Nick All-stars had functional 1v1, which was the main reason why he sunk time into it. I'm not sure he likes it more or not
Nick is slept on.
Thanks for saving me the time of putting what I was thinking to words
NASB had 0 budget and the devs did what they could with the bare minimum they were given. They have added in voice-acting in the current state.
MVS just has a company willing to throw tons of money around to make their game succeeds, with tournaments getting massive financial support.
@@eu4um releasing a $50 game with a 17 fighter roster then charging for additional fighters as well is going to kill your game. blame nickelodeon for not giving ludosity a bigger budget. As someone who gets absolutely dominated in smash, I have enjoyed this game a significant amount more for the fact I don't lose every single match.
same tbh this game is easier for me to play and i have more fun because i have a chance of winning whereas smash i get so unbelievably wrecked every game its just not fun no matter how much i practice😂
Agreed. It's just much easier to fully comprehend
@@frostedmocha the opposite for me, i find Smash easier to play and win than this game, it's weird i see my moves connect but the enemy doesnt take the move, the character flicks in the screen, Batman is wonky and buggy etc
Might have something to do with the players being 5 to 10 years old lol

Multiversus characters are picked because Warner Bros thought "Eh, just put whatever we own that's vaguely popular in there"
The game is still super boring after a while, I’d much rather play smash than this garbage
hey i played the nickelodeon game on ps plus and it was really awesome and the gameplay was way better than multiversus. but i kinda prefer multiversus even when the hitboxes are garbadge. for example neutral down attack with bugs bunny has such a low range that its completly useless

just add smash to multiversus
I'd say this is far better than All Stars, and it's free, so that's pretty much a win-win. It focuses heavily on the 2v2 aspect and excels a lot at it because character combos have various different synergies you can play off of. This is helped by how unique every character's move set is. In All Stars, most of the characters reuse a lot of the exact same moves and animations, makes the whole thing feel very bland
Did you say that because you just wanted talk it done without actually playing it or did you say it in context that you mean it.

I don’t know why but this edit of Bugs bunny cussing out Superman in just perfect
