Great question! With SAFE select, this plane is very easy to fly even without the GPS module and auto landing sensor. Of the two, I would suggest the landing sensor. You should also check out the AeroScout S; the RTF version (with transmitter) is only $199.99 and is also easy to fly (Horizon Hobby's website says the next shipment is scheduled for this month, December 2020 - although they have had some shipping delays). Here is my video on the AeroScout: ruclips.net/video/2C2CFwTC7mQ/видео.html Either the Carbon Cub S2 or AeroScout would be great first planes. Thanks!
@@jack-of-all4535 thanks. I think I will go for the nice Carbon cub S2 RTF version. Is it possible with the provided new spectrum dxs transmitter to install flaps and gps and autolanding or are there not enough channels available on the dxs and otherwise I have to skip the flaps or the gps maybe or do I need an other transmitter if I want to install this 3 available options at the same time? Thanks for looking.
@@Groveronline I do not believe that the GPS or landing sensor require additional channels on your transmitter - however, the version of the DSX transmitter that comes with the RTF version does not have enough channels to add flaps. You will need at least seven channels to add flaps. Here is a link to download the Carbon Cub S2 manual: www.horizonhobby.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-horizon-master/default/dwdfb96131/Manuals/HBZ32000-Manual-EN.pdf. Consider the Spektrum DX8 (my unboxing / info video is here: ruclips.net/video/z9mryixxlgg/видео.html) or the new NX8. If you purchase one of those, you could buy the BNF version of the CC S2 instead of the RTF version. 8 channels gives you some room to grow for things like flaps and retractable landing gear. Good luck and happy flying!
@@Groveronline I have owned the DX8 for about a year-and-a-half, and other than having to send it in for service once (it had a "hardware fault"), I am very happy with it. The NX series just came out and I have not had my hands on one yet, but is has all/most of the DX functions and features. The NX8 upgrades to a color screen, has Wi-Fi connectivity (for registration and firmware upgrades), is compatible with Smart technology (although the DX line can be upgraded with firmware for telemetry, etc.). It has USB charging instead of the round port on a DX8 (I cannot remember what that port is called; it is like the charging port on a laptop). The NX8 is only $20 US more than the DX8, so it is worth looking into.
My bad, then it is not RFT (Ready-to-fly), it is almost-RTF. My AeroScout was RTF and came with everything you need to fly, including the battery and charger. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the question! The Carbon Cub S 2 can use the same floats that the original S+ uses: www.horizonhobby.com/product/float-set-super-cub-lp-carbon-cub-s/HBZ7390.html. FYI, I have been designing and prototyping 3D printed snow skis for the Carbon Cub S 2. Once I settle on the design I will upload and link them.
It looks great and is easy to fly. I am also a big fan of the Timber line; take a look at the Turbo Timber. You can grow with either that or the Carbon Cub S2. Enjoy the hobby!
@@Tommy06235 (from Haar Bear, aka Jack-Of-All): good point; I have a DX8, so I always purchase the BNF versions. I also recommend the AeroScout if someone wants a good beginner plane that is available in RTF (and it's only $199.00 - www.horizonhobby.com/product/aeroscout-s-1.1m-rtf/HBZ3800.html). Thanks!
Please list the connections between carbon cub s2 and Spectrum 3230. bus assignments
Man I love that plane
It really is a beautiful plane and looks great in the air!
i love that plane too!
would you advise to a beginner to buy and install also the gps module and autolanding or is it overkill for a beginner on a budget?
