@@severihanninen334 I've always adored drummers who act like Joey was some average shitter. His playing on the first three albums is fucking class. Yeah, definitely not super technical playing. His playing mostly revolved around fast single strokes, but his playing always served and enhanced the music, which is what an actual decent drummer does. Saying that, this isn't jazz. Metal is a predominantly "to the grid", where generally people are only doing double strokes with their feet or to push pull on a blast beat. So, I'm not even sure what your point is. Okay, you might be papping about on your hi-hat doing some double strokes or the odd rudiment here and there, but it's a pretty single stroke heavy genre

Besides, I'm pretty sure that Joey didn't do this solo to be an arrogant ass (like EVERY Jazz players is), but to make the song more agressive and more based on the main idea, which is an agressive-horror one.

@belics90 - i presume that because he seldom 'clenches' the hi-hat (im not sure of the technical term...'closing' it) he probably moved the stand out of the way so he had more room for the double pedals. I think on his more recent, larger kits, he uses a HA-100 hi-hat clamp which connects his hihat to his left bass drum, obviating the need for a stand and thus allowing one to play double bass and still keep the hihat reasonably near to one's feet.
