I just did this install and found a few things different for an 06 Forester. 1. I only needed to remove the right side floor foam assembly. It pulled out with no removal of pins or fasteners. 2. The wire to target was yellow and brown. there are two, I presume one for each side. I tapped into the wire on the floor of the trunk instead of near the light assembly so it was not necessary to pull apart the sound proofing or any paneling. 3. I ran the wire from the trunk on the left side (where the rubber boot conduit runs from hatch to body). I did not uninstall the seatbelt or the tie down. I was able to pull enough paneling loose to do the work i needed with these parts in place. 4. I ran the wire from the loosened up rear left side (driver side) panel all the way to the front to the A-pillar. by removing the A-pillar cover. Removing this took significant force pulling right down the center line from the top. Pulling from the sides did more harm than good, my trim got a little misshapen by doing this. I then used a threading rod (in my case i had a semi pliable 8' steel extrusion rod. I taped the yellow RCA to the front of the rod and I pushed it up through the left side of the car from the rear hatch trim to the removed a-pillar trim. I grabbed it there and routed it by dropping the steering wheel using the adjustable steering position all the way open, and pulling the wire over the steering column and into the stereo compartment. 5. I ramoved one of the lisence plate screw holders and used exterior caulk to re install the screw and make everything waterproof. I used caulk that was dried on the tube becasue it was sticky and pliable enough to work with. I added a washer on the backside that grabbed the screw from the lisence plate and the caulk allowed the wire to share the hole. The install still took me 5-6 hours.

Man you did the head unit and the backup cam all in one day? Legend 👏🏽 I myself would need a 3 day weekend for that 😅
