IMO the solution is to not only have one band writing the songs. They can have two or three bands / musicians and split the new songs amongst them. That way there would automatically be more variation and if one them underperforms, not every new theme song is affected by that.
Why invest in three different bands when you can have one, cheaper one, if the public is going to continue consuming your product no matter how bad the songs are? It is not economically viable.
MY problem with Def Rebel is that they change songs when they don't need to at all. Like Austin Theory didn't have the best song but it grew on me after a while but they went and made it worse, plus these producer tags of the wrestlers names don't change the fact that the song quality isn't good either as it doesn't even help build the character of the wrestler like Carlito's old theme or Stone Cold theme. Def Rebel has good songs but they've definitely decreased in quality with the occasional banger

They've shown that they CAN make banger theme songs like Roman, Bobby, LA, Iyo, Carmelo, etc when they ACTUALLY take the time to but when they don't, it just sounds like generic rock/metal music whilst in the past with Jim Johnston and even CFO$, made great themes for people even in the mid to lower card level so Def Rebel just gotta take the time to actually look into the characters and make the theme fit them instead of just placing a producer tag at the start and putting a generic track

But they just don’t always try, they change songs that were great as they are when they don’t need to be changed, and their insistence on using a formula to make themes recognisable rather than actually just making them distinct is so frustrating. There were some good Def Rebel songs that were Rare Ws Roman Reigns Seth Rollins Damian Priest Joe Gacy Jey and Jimmy Uso i think the new Damage CTRL theme which was an improvement I think they did the Hellfire Intro for Written in my Face for Sheamus and Electrifying Intro Hollywood Rock for the Final Boss Also i think they did WHOOP THAT TRICK but a lot of them are just really awful like don't fix what is not broken with these theme songs Sorry had to edit it a bit

I have just searched Producer: Ali Dee Theodore followed by Producer: Anthony Mirabella as well. It is night and day who is the more varied head Producer out of the team. Why do they put that generic Mirabella in charge of their WWE Music department. Give Dee a chance to turn their misfortunes around and if his shit P45 them. I personally think Mirabella is miss on the hit and miss ranking on his past work too as much as his been in the WWE as Producing head but that Ali Dee might just actually have something of a creative spark in him if given the chance to be 100% head producer of the table in WWE def rebel putting Mirabella in the other roles instead.

AEW is killing it with themes lately and a big reason for that is they don’t have 1 band or artist dedicated to making all the themes. This lets the artists really work and focus on the wrestler’s style and craft something just for them. Originally they did just have one guy doing it at the beginning, which is why some early AEW songs kinda sucked. They also license a lot of music, like Jane for Orange Cassidy and Wild Thing for John Moxley, or let wrestlers with established themes bring them into AEW like Will Ospreay (who has the best theme in any promotion atm).

Burnin’ Daylight - Bullet Club Gold’s new theme suits them so well making them seem like outlaws from an old western. All About Tha (Boom!) - The Undisputed Era’s theme is almost untouchable but Adam Cole’s new theme comes close. Jim Johnston told a story with his theme songs. He made a song for the gimmick. CFO$ made good music that wasn't necessarily for gimmicks, but were good songs nonetheless. 95% of Def Rebel songs are generic beats that don't fit the wrestler and don't incite pops from the crowd. They don't add value to the character.

With Endeavor buying out out WWE they need to suck it up and just pay royalties for actual songs in some cases.

people dont want to hear this but despite it being pretty good and very catchy, romans theme is painfully simple. the issue is, they did the same thing with everyone else so his wont stand out on its own.
it's a 50%/50% blame. yeah they make some ass songs but it's reccomended by wwe. they asked for these theme catchphrases over full lyrics. and the generic themes without chorus etc etc. It's on WWE asking for this type of music and also Def Rebels fault.
i think def rebel is capable of making great theme songs. they just choose not to most of the time.

If you check the main roster none of the big ones(or used to be) have bad theme songs Roman, Sasha Banks, Becky, Seth Rollins, Rhea, etcetera.
Also I feel most of this meme came from nostalgia, yeah 90s and 2000s feel better because most of us were children and connected far more with them even with bad ones... Like Kurt Angle his theme is bad like really boring but crowds turned it iconic.

Jim Johnston told a story with his theme songs. He made a song for the gimmick. CFO$ made good music that wasn't necessarily for gimmicks, but were good songs nonetheless. 95% of Def Rebel songs are generic beats that don't fit the wrestler and don't incite pops from the crowd. They don't add value to the character.
95% is crazy, they haven't been great but they've made quite a few good ones, i'd say it's closer to like 30%

Karrion Kross' old theme was fire. And it was made by Def Rebel. His New Theme is Dogshit. But it's made by Def Rebel. And the same can be said about a bunch of other themes. Which leads me to believe that they either had somebody else previously do Songs for them which they now can't use anymore cause of some Copyright stuff or they are actually getting worse. HOW is that even possible? How do you make a good piece of music and then go: "Nah, don't sound Garbage enough, let's make something worse"? Get Jim Johnston back ffs. Or even CFO$. I don't care. Just fire Def Rebel.

They've rarely ever straight-up licensed music, they mostly do collabs. The only example I can think of is CM Punk.

HHH’s themes are made by Motörhead, both king of kings and the game, Undertaker used Rollin’ by Limp Bizkit, shatter (bray’s theme) was made by code orange, [REDACTED]’s theme is made by Our lady peace a Canadian rock band, edge and Judgement day both have Alter bridge, RVD used Pantara’s walk and I’m 90% sure Metallica’s turn the page was a theme for Drew Mcyntire, the NWO used Voodoo child by Jimi Hendrix just to name a few
