Makes me so happy to see a princess connect shotout not only for weiss, but the the game as well. RIP global server. Also never thought i would get a personal shoutout for visiting columbus locals when im in town.
By itself, A Step Towards the Future, Gawr Gura is a potent finisher that can clinch a win from as early as level 2. In addition, both Relaxing by the Pool, Ookami Mio and Himemori Luna have proven to be strong utility pieces that greatly improve the consistency of the deck, allowing the shark to swim freely and terrorize opponents.
As a massive OVL and ATLA non believer they both deserved a ban. Sokka is a misprint and OVL gatekeeps too many random decks from existing even if it doesn't show good enough results to warrent a hit.
I think sokka could have been done with just a choice with the 3/2 azula, the 2/2 azula and the 0/0 sokka. It would have left 12 standby with zuko but that deck was a funny meme at best. That being said, if they announce ATLA 2 or LOK then I am ok with the sokka ban. Trying to design a new set while being concious of what sokka can do would be crazy
@@spacecowboy225 ok, but you also cant deny that the sokka ban hit decks like 4 color and 8 bar which were doing nothing problematic with it. Just having a double spawn riki was so good for lvl 1 consistency. Without the Azulas to give the deck a consistent sacrifice option, Sokka is barely a problem even if it was designed incorrectly.
@@camf1991 the option being hit one problem card or choice banning all of standby would be the issue. ATLA still has a riki. Sokka is also a cost riki which is pretty ass for conventional 1k 1 decks.
trios will still happen for sure, it will just get delayed a few months, that's by bet, maybe change to summer festival, i love trioes to be more relaxed and fun. so it would be like june-september?
No one is going to say that OVL is bad just like no one is going to say 3/2 Armin is a bad card, but--and I've been saying this for ages--OVL as a deck is too fragile and slow in our current meta. I come from a MtG background, where control gets absolutely annihilated by aggro and recursive (e.g. reanimator, initiative) strategies. Maybe it's just my perspective coming from that card game tradition and bringing specific heuristics along with me, but without proper interactive tools (counterspells, removal) that can be played at literally any time during any turn, OVL is destined to get run over by decks that are good at running things over and not caring about its cards sticking around. Any card, in any card game, that has to stick around to provide value is worse than any card that provides its value immediately or when it's interacted with/removed/dies. The only time value engines are powerful is when they are protected and can't be interacted with, like Mjurran is. If it can be acknowledged that itsuki is incredibly powerful but loses to itself, then it can be acknowledged that OVL has the same problem. Does OVL get better if Slime and SDS get hit? Yeah. But with the prevalence and already impressive showing of Frieren, I wouldn't be caught dead in a regional with a deck whose win-con and control are dismantled by a no-cost, on-play, hexproof-immune effect on a 0/0.
The most vibes based, result ignoring tier list discussion I have ever seen lol I agree OVL warps the meta but I cant put it in S tier. by that same logic, Shana should be at least A since if you dont tech it, you can just auto lose. OVL only tops slightly more than Itsuki (which you have in t3). Also I take personal offense to how low Itsuki is. Call it a fraud deck if you like, but it still consistently makes top cut this season
While 7/120 placements so far is decent enough, only 2/7 made it past round 1 of top cut. I wouldn't go as far as Jason in calling it a "fraud" deck, it's definitely just "another 1k1 deck" in which case a lot of people who would choose to play a similar strategy would rather lean towards SDS. Or any other 1k1 deck that has access to decompression. OVL, while it topped the same 7/120 times this season so far, has 4/7 making it past R1 of top cut, and 3 out of those 4 qualifying for worlds. The deck is just much harder to play in the western meta where there's a lot of decks and strategies that attempt to abuse accelerated gamestates, as was discussed. This leads to less pilots capable of playing the list to it's maximum potential, and even less willing to play it when there's far more stable alternatives available in the current meta like TSK. As for Shana, that deck has a lot of problems that hold it back far beyond people just falling on antiburn. Even without a bouncer tech, Shana can easily lose if it doesn't get the slow grindy midgame it wants. That's something that can go sideways for any midgame deck, and there's far better ones available to be playing right now. Even Riaz said he wouldn't play Shana at an event ever again; the opportunity to knowledge check with Yuji is already over. - Carmen

Appreciate you all, happy new year!
13:09 this is kind of why I think uma will be a 2025 EN set. They announced the global release of the mobile game not too long ago

@@camf1991 Sokka is a mistake in card design. That profile itself shouldn't exist.

Sokka should remain banned or should be errata'd to correctly play the card to stage rested during the attack phase
Overlord is S tier every single day of the week.
DanDaDan is very likely for coming to EN

BRO please. I would like to have a BRO/Online BCS. There should be supported like other games are doing.
“Luna Mio restriction killed 8 Standby!” I’ve played plenty of 8 Standby HOL without Luna tho.
