- When electrician John Kinney of Woburn, Massachusetts, visited Gloria Scott's home for a simple light repair, he realized there was much more work to be done. Steve Hartman has more on this week's "On the Road."

It's not as depressing as you think! There's more people like this than you think! The news covers some of them but most of the news nowadays is focusing on the negative. Makes it seem like there's no hope for humanity. Things like this go on in the background. Good people don't need a camera on them to do good things ❤

I love this!!!!! Not only did they save her house but possibly her life as well. Bad electrical wiring is a fire hazard and I've known two who lost their houses due to it.

This is beautiful. Christ would be smiling at this young man' initiative to aid a fellow human being without means. This is what people did before the 'me me me' thing kicked in. We need to bring it back.. if only to mend our hearts. Are you wanting a chapter opened here in Boise, Idaho John?

Back around 2003 to 2005 I was the chair of my neighborhood assoc and I got a call from an organization similiar to this one. They did a week of service every year on spring break so they had teens and adults working and they wanted referrals for seniors and/or veterans that needed work on or around their houses in my neighborhood. I loved that!! It went on for a couple of years, them contacting me and several people in my neighborhood benefiting from them! I still can't remember the organization (it wasn't a religious one) but I've thought of that often and would love to get involved with something like that in my neighborhood. Neighbors helping neighbors. Thats one of the reasons I love the Tool Library in my area. You're basically borrowing tools from a neighbor! Love it!!

It's so uplifting to see these stories. These are the opposite of the regular news, that fill you with dread, making you think the whole world is rotten and falling apart. That's a lie. If the "news" were replaced with these wonderful stories, theyd be a delight to watch and the entire emotional tone of the society would be raised.

I was searching "Woman builds house by herself" for some encouragement that I can do this by myself. Im buying a house thats been abandoned fir 20 years. It needs EVERYTHING. Im trying to figure out how to do it all on my own plus work 52 hours a week. So glad she got help. Its so hard. I couldnt imagine being older and having to do it alone!
