    Thanks for watching my first time installation of the Progressive Suspension 412 Rear Shocks on my Sportster! I could have not done this without the how to video from @motorcyclingwithcarl m.ruclips.net/video/CnFhMuRJ5YQ/видео.html. And of course special thanks to @progressivesuspension for the the 412 Shocks!

    I have the same on my 2019 Sportster and it is a day and night difference from the stock once 😬 the once that I installed are the heavy duty because of the my weight … 👊🏽😎 I hope that you’ll enjoy them .

      My riding weight is 215lbs and I was told to go with the standard. I thought about the heavy duty one but since I don't ride with a passenger, the standard is supposed to work for me 😀

      lol thanks! I was so flustered after the explosion of the washers and spacers. Especially when I couldn't find them all for good 5 minutes!

    Good job, nice video. In March of this year, I put 12.5" Progressive-412 on my '09 Sportster to replace OEM 11.5". I'm about 230 lbs and playing with the preload, I found I prefer level 3 of 5. I tried it on 2 but felt it was maybe too soft on the really big bumps like RR tracks. The ride is 1000% better, just a massive improvement. I actually enjoy riding now and don't think about bumps at all anymore whereas previously my teeth were constantly rattling and taking the fun out of it. I went with the 1" longer shock to get more travel and I'm glad I did. I find that with the rear just a little higher, the bike tips into turns easier than before. I think it's sitting maybe only half an inch higher with the preload I've chosen. The extra travel definitely helps smooth out the road.

      I tried playing with the preload but just at level 1 seemed comfy at the moment, I did try level 2 setting for a short ride but I found it stiff and it only felt good during big bumps. But yeah, still way better than stock!

    Invest into some battery impacts 😉. Also when using a torque wrench only click it once. Every time you click after once you are over torquing it.

    Tips: The preload doesn't make any difference when removing the shocks because with the wheel off the ground, they are already fully extended.
    Inside that little bag of hardware, there's a little piece of paper that tells you exactly which parts to use on your specific year of bike so you know which ones are not needed and what order to install them (i.e. spacers inward).

    • @KSMotoCafe
      @KSMotoCafe  2 года назад

      haha yeah I realized the re-adjusting the preload on my stock shocks did nothing but waste time lol

    Shouldn't you adjust the belt now you've changed the length of the shocks? That's a newbie question, soon I'll run this service on my bike too.

    Good video, clearly explained. How did you decide on Progressive? I think all Harley twin shock bikes have entry level quality. That always bugged me. My Sportster, Street Glide, and Dyna all rode terrible. I lived with it. I almost changed out the Dyna with Legend shocks, but never did. The fat bob Softail had a great mono shock. The same as with my Livewire and now my Pan America. Looking forward to the next review 😎👍🏻

      I have always wanted these 412s based on people's recommendation and most importantly, the price point - it priced exactly at where I don't have to feel too guilty about it. Other shocks were outside my price range.

    I had a few good questions to help me..
    What size shock did you get?
    How tall are you?
    Would you go taller on the shock after riding?
    IM 5.6,155lb i sit very good on the bike and can flat foot. I want more learn angle what would be best. 12,12.5 or 13
    Thank you. Love the content

    • @KSMotoCafe
      @KSMotoCafe  2 года назад +2

      I got the 12" and I am 5'10". To increase the lean angle of my sportster I think I could have gone with 12.5 or maybe 13 but the 12" still is better than the stock original and my seat height change was almost unnoticeable. My first impression ride video will be out this week!
