The gentleman talking seems like a very knowledgeable and caring keeper. I've seen him in other videos and on the news, mainly regarding Gladys. He's very well spoken and informative. It's clear the well being of the gorillas, both physically and mentally, are very important to him as well as spreading knowledge and conservation about the gorillas plight. I have an uncle who feels the exact same way about the elephants in his care. He'd risk his life for the welfare of his elephants.

In 1969, I was at the zoo in San Antonio, Texas (Brackenridge Zoo) with my family. We were at a gorilla enclosure. There was this huge male gorilla in an enclosure sitting down with his back against a huge rock and arms folded in front of him. I noticed that he was looking at women as if they were naked. The gorilla was looking at women up and down, would look straight into the eyes of a woman, then would run his gaze down to the breasts, and then to the private part area of the woman. The gorilla did the same with different women. When the gorilla got to me, I was thinking what if he gets out of the enclosure. At that point, my sister said, did you notice how that animal is looking at women? I said, yes, let's get out of here. It was scary. The gorilla didn't move the body or the head but was just looking straight into the areas I mentioned above.

Fascinating. I always wondered what the reason was to move these creatures from one facility to another. Thanks for this great and informative video.
Once a young male gorilla reaches about 8 years of age, they are supposed to naturally leave their family to go establish their own harem and start a new gorilla family somewhere else. That's what they do in the wild. If the young male does not leave on his own, the other males and the father will start to bully him a little until he does finally leave. Sometimes it takes until they're about 10. But if you keep that young gorilla with its family in a zoo situation and there is nowhere for him to go, bullying will turn into real aggression and it will become a serious problem. So they usually get the young males moved to a different facility around age 8. Sometimes they get moved to a "bachelor group" which is just a temporary holding with a bunch of other very young males that just got moved out of their family but haven't been relocated to female groups yet by the zoo staff, then they move them to female groups so they can try to make a harem.
It is amazing work you people do send believe I seen a little smile on his face there in the end!!!! He's got his full with girls!!! He's a silverback he'll be fine!!!
