This sounds easy but is a huge pain if you've not done your covenant campaign. You have to complete all Covenant campaign chapters and then get Renown 44 to get the flying quest.
Thank you SO much! I've been looking all over the Internet for a straight-forward answer to this after doing all this stuff and not getting flying. Now I understand why...
And this is why I prefer path finding. At least it is honest and you know where you stand. Before you can start with this you have to do a heck of a lot more than a couple rep grinds. It does not even show you where you are on achievements.
i miss it. %20 increased mount speed..... if you think about it weve already finished pathfinder part1..... the issue is they tie flying to pathfinder part2 which isnt able to even be started till the flying patch which then involves more exploration and rep gains. It might be obvious to some/many but every single "flying in shadowlands" video out there misses one simply fact... you have to be lvl 60. That would have saved me a bunch of time. ... the reason I spent so much time trying to figure out how to do this and why I didn't have the option for the quest (lvl 55 druid, I haven't played in a few years) is because I ran into a lvl 54 that was flying. I figured it all out now (account wide, blah blah blah) but it really would have been nice if one of the videos said you have to get to 60 first.
I have said it many times. If we can't fly. Give us a reason. One expansion could have archer snipers or something. You can unlock flying by having mount belly armor , One expansion has Huge dragons that attack you when you fly. you can unlock flying by having an invisible cloak.. etc... It would be a cool way to unlock flying instead of.. here. do this 30 min quest that we never had before this patch.
I'd prefer something that doesn't change the appearence of the mounts (and I think the developers would prefer that as well:) - could be as simple as, "This region is completely new to you and your mount. You and your mount(s) need to familiarize yourselves with the region before you can ("safely") fly here. [Blah blah invisible wind systems, air turbulence, air pockets, electromagnetic field something something.] Please take this mandatory FAA [or Warcraft equivalent if any exists] 'Pathfinder' Pilot Course to ensure your ability to navigate these new skies (for your own safety as well as that of those who would not enjoy you smacking into them when you're zooming through the air on your favorite flying mount)."

I miss path finder already. if they are gonna keep us on the ground this long every expansion they need to put ground mount speed upto 300% even that might feel too slow. most people would have already completed pathfinder rank 1 at this stage and gotten increased mount speed. pathfinder rank2 has been the real issue. adding new reps to grind and zones to explore and story to play through before you can fly.
What covenant quest opens up this flying mount quest? I heard that you have to be at a certain part of your covenant questline for the flying quest to appear...
Flying still won't be the same because of the intentional time wasting design they have with having zones separated. Sure, you can fly within 1 zone but you can't fly from Bastion to Maldraxxus, you have to take the time wasting FP through Oribos to the zone you want to travel to.
