Shenzhen is only 40 years old. It was built ground up from empty lands. It is like a blank canvas, you have the freedom to build anything on it. China was very poor before 1990s, but that is a big plus for urban planning and development because everything is new.

the place is called the civic center and civic plaza. every Friday&Saturday nights'19:00 20:00 21:00 will have the light shows(about 15min a time).but October has the national day,(10.1-10.7).I believe that there will be extra light shows. u can search on the internet. usually it's about 28-34degree in October. so bring 1 or 2long sleeves is enough. it's pretty hot here

This is just so incredibly different from what I am used to in Europe that it is captivating. Our cities are old. Beautiful yes, but so different.
