  • Welcome to a little known fact about Penang Island's water supply. Did you know Penang has an aqueduct built by the British in 1929 and is still functioning today. When we were filming here, we were surprised to see some of the parts within the Ayer Itam reservoir dates back from the 1930's. They really knew how to make things that last back then.
The aqueduct sources from 5 water catchment areas within the forest reserve and goes through the water filtration plant which supplies some parts of Penang Island till this day.
Our gratitude to the Penang Water Supply Corporation for taking us up there for filming and explaining to us the mechanics of the system.
It is indeed a worthy heritage site in Penang and Malaysia.

The British certainly left a lot in Malaysia during their time there.
