Since they already announced that the essences will be converted into a new currency I wouldn't spend everything until we know what we can do with those in JW. I just don't open the boxes and stack them in bank until then.
@@darensgw2 how do you mean that? how do they become less relevant? aNet has already announced that the current essences will be renamed and will additionally drop in the new JW convergences. Also, if I recall correctly they already confirmed that they will be needed for upcomming leggy spear and backpack. That's why many people I know started collecting the essences again.
@Shrek_The_Mathematiciano it was the other way around, you can use the new essences to make obsidian armor you can't use the old essences to get the new spears for example

There won't be an additional currency or essence type. Kryptis Essences (Essences of Despair, Greed, and Triumph) that are in the game now will be renamed "Rift Essences". They can be used for the legendary Obsidian armor in SotO as well as the legendary spear and legendary backpack coming in Janthir Wilds. Like legendary Obsidian armor, there will be additional materials required to craft the legendary spear and backpack, but the Kryptis essence you're earning now will carry over to Janthir Wilds as rift essence. "
Really useful video, essences are a storage nightmare. It might be worth getting the currencies for storm/consecrated weapons.
