Aww this song brings me back to 20 years old, blasting ex cops down CA 12 & 101 to and from work :D I miss 2014 alt indie music scene! Sad that this hasn't hit 1M yet but ik at least half of these views are mine lol
Not sure what's taking so long for this song to take off already, saw this video about a month after hearing it on Alt Nation and thought for sure it would be at a couple million views already. Great songs are taking so long to become huge nowadays.
My old managers would play this song in the office all the time. I used to mistake Ex Cops for Metric all the time lol. She burned me a CD of all her music before she tragically took her life. It was the time in my life someone close to me unexpectedly died. Everytime I hear this song I'm reminded that we never know what other people are going through. Life can suck, it can be hard, but it's like that for everyone.
Agreed. As I listened to this song, it did strike me as a familiar sound, you nailed it as that of the band Garbage. The Facebook article about this band refusing the ludicrous McDonald's "offer" brought me here, to listen and experience this track. I like the tune.
Alin82 I'm a big fan of both Garbage and Metric and when I heard this song, I instantly thought it was Garbage, not Metric. The distortion is what got me. It would be like Metric meets My Bloody Valentine.
First several times I heard this I thought of The Cranberries, but I think you guys are right, might be a little closer to Garbage. Either way, 90's vibe being brought into modern alt rock, I'm a huge fan.
Here we are still, Stucked in a crowd, Revolutions, heart full of doubt You fought in time, No windows, a casino You plead on me This just is so expensive If you're going to the city Dry your eyes, you thighs are pretty Make it hard to limitation Take your picture, congratulations Stay so clean, picture obscene Black soap, black soap Stay so clean, picture obscene I was on the dark side of your dream With an empty stomach, your favorite scene But you can't afford me Take a sad song You're making it worse You publicise, tragic life Can never be cursed You try to die, But you're faking, you're not aching Come see, 'bout me, My best friends, they're beyond it If you're going to the city Dry your eyes, you thighs are pretty Make it hard to limitation Take your picture, congratulations Stay so clean, picture obscene Black soap, black soap Stay so clean, picture obscene I was on the dark side of your dreams With an empty stomach, your favorite scene If you're going to the city Dry your eyes, you thighs are pretty Make it hard to limitation Take your picture, congratulations
She's Myrkur? That's awesome! I predict some purists getting upset about this, but most musicians tend to have a very varied taste in music, so why should they have to choose sides in some stupid genre war? I'm glad I got two new bands to listen to. Love the T-shirt (could be ironic or a black metal homage).
I like it. She's destroying prejudices about gender, about black metal, about a lot of things. Her EP was at least a very interesting release. Would love to hear more from her in the future. She's a big fan of Norway, Norwegian black metal and Scandinavia(n folklore), so that might explain the shirt!
I just to listen this song on OI FM alt station radio in Brazil, and I never hear before about this band, but i cant find something about they in google ex. wikipedia (except facebook). Where's they from? how many time on the road?
+Anthony Showalter More like some overproduced, overhyped wannabe black metal's future that has nothing to offer apart from formulas tried thousand times before with far better effect.
Are you all like, 7th graders? Who the hell cares about trvkvlt rubbish anyway aside from little kids who think they are oh-so "edgy"? Myrkur is alright, and a nice break from the "Corpse-paint-guys-with-swords-growling-about-Satan-something-something-random-shock-value-nonsense" formula.
First of all- If somebody likes it, and it doesn't hurt anyone, why the hell not? You don't need to like everything- And nobody needs your approval to like [or dislike] that or another music. Second of all- Viewing yourself as superior based on what bands you enjoy is kind of a Middle-School thing. Grow up and get some self-awareness.
So criminally underrated
One of those that fell through the cracks unfortunately
so true
I’m mad at myself for not finding this song sooner. I could’ve had 6 years of intimate connection to this song.
i just listened to this song 9 times in a row
I unironically think its a nice story, I've beaten your record today. This song is fucking infectious.
What’s it about though? But I do love it haha
It's 3am now, I've been up all night trying to find this song that was stuck in my head. So satisfying actually figuring it out.
I heard this in a retail store one time like 10 years ago. Shazammed it and the rest is history 😢

I totally love this song. I heard it two days ago and have listened to it 3 times since, not including the hours it has been stuck in my head.
This music video is so aesthetically pleasing
She is a poser
Ex Cops, particularly in this song, is like a cross between Garbage and Roxette.

Me encanta esta canción 🖤✨
¡Yo también!
Ex Cops is an American indie pop duo from Brooklyn, New York. I like their song "Black Soap" THE most best damn track I ever heard in 2017. 😀😁😂😃🤔😉😆
Been stuck in my head all week. Great song
They remind me of "In the Valley Below" another good duo.
Yes they are good too
When I’m in my casket. Tag this song with a sharpie on top as one of favs of all time
A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!! Man this takes me back to the 90s, sounds just like Garbage *.* finally some good modern music!!!!
Agreed. As I listened to this song, it did strike me as a familiar sound, you nailed it as that of the band Garbage.
The Facebook article about this band refusing the ludicrous McDonald's "offer" brought me here, to listen and experience this track.
I like the tune.
They're more like Metric. Garbage have a heavier sound.
Alin82 I'm a big fan of both Garbage and Metric and when I heard this song, I instantly thought it was Garbage, not Metric. The distortion is what got me. It would be like Metric meets My Bloody Valentine.
Yeah, here too. I definitely thought Garbage when I heard this.
First several times I heard this I thought of The Cranberries, but I think you guys are right, might be a little closer to Garbage. Either way, 90's vibe being brought into modern alt rock, I'm a huge fan.
Here we are still,
Stucked in a crowd,
Revolutions, heart full of doubt
You fought in time,
No windows, a casino
You plead on me
This just is so expensive
If you're going to the city
Dry your eyes, you thighs are pretty
Make it hard to limitation
Take your picture, congratulations
Stay so clean, picture obscene
Black soap, black soap
Stay so clean, picture obscene
I was on the dark side of your dream
With an empty stomach, your favorite scene
But you can't afford me
Take a sad song
You're making it worse
You publicise, tragic life
Can never be cursed
You try to die,
But you're faking, you're not aching
Come see, 'bout me,
My best friends, they're beyond it
If you're going to the city
Dry your eyes, you thighs are pretty
Make it hard to limitation
Take your picture, congratulations
Stay so clean, picture obscene
Black soap, black soap
Stay so clean, picture obscene
I was on the dark side of your dreams
With an empty stomach, your favorite scene
If you're going to the city
Dry your eyes, you thighs are pretty
Make it hard to limitation
Take your picture, congratulations
Cheers, Mate!
Thanks for the lyrics
There voices go so well together
I knew I'd love this song the first time I heard it. I'm expecting big things to come in the future for Ex Cops.
Look at her t-shirt!!! Norway!!! Inspiration for her next project, Myrkur!!!
+shitstorm but she is from Denmark, not Norway...
Wanted to check and see if I have epilepsy but after watching this video I can rest easy knowing I don’t.

Finally found a song in 2014 that I can enjoy!
great song..!
One of my favorites. Produced by the brilliant Billy Corgan. Amalie Bruun is a really great songwriter. Her solo stuff is good.
It's like listening Texas + Garbage + TheCranberries all together. This is my new fave track, just found it on Spotify :)
Great song and beautiful cinematography!
Black folk metal singer who started as a pop artist...Amalie fkn Bruun can't be human ❤️❤️
I honestly don't know how i stumbled upon this song, but fuck yes that it happened. Fantastic sounds.
Agreed
Such an instant classic.
Another song I am enjoying at the moment...love the music and voice.
Spotify best alternative of 90's and 00's brought me here.. so glad!

I dig that she has this musical background. It's why she able to infuse some catchy and great melodies into her music as Myrkur

Hehe! It would have made more sense
Well said! :)

I think that's awesome good for her for genre hopping.
This song grows on me like a magic beanstalk

Perfecto en este 2021
OMG this so cool ! i love your song
Fun fact: this woman goes by the pseudonym Myrkur in a one-woman black metal project of the same name. Some fuckin' grim frosty shit.
+Anthony Showalter More like some overproduced, overhyped wannabe black metal's future that has nothing to offer apart from formulas tried thousand times before with far better effect.
+Anthony Showalter The biggest poser-ass marketing ploy ever.

Hell, if someone likes Simon Cowell style black metal, why not..?

This is the best. Reminds me of 90s shoegaze.
this song is a great hit here in Peru!
