Despite any criticisms I might have regarding the campaign, I have to admit the OST is phenomenal. Some tracks serve as great original compositions and others as love letters to O'Donnell and Salvatori. Jinnouchi has really been the only saving grace of the new trilogy.

The songs still lack the big orchestra of the last games.
They've got "Finish the Fight" from H3, we know that much. I'm hopeful.

When chief said "we havent used that frequency in years"
Kyle Erman while in training the Spartan twos would use the Olly Olly oxen free tone to communicate and identify fellow Spartan twos. They used it for future purposes as well, but that's all I can remember off the top of my head. It was just a fast way to identify friendly Spartan two allies and if I'm remembering correctly only the Spartan twos (besides Dr. Halsey and maybe a few people in ONI) know about it's relevance.

Love this track! Especially seeing Holly Tanaka smash through that Ice boulder in that intro cutscene; AMAZING! Halo has the best soundtrack. 'nuff said.

Fireteam Osiris were pretty alright.
I wasn't sure how much I'd like a next gen Blue Team, but by the end of the game, I was really liking them as characters. Their little ritual before making a jump makes them feel that little bit more genuine. The way they promoted them helped too. Releasing that cutscene as a trailer both sold me on the game, and made me accept them as a team. And this music played a key role in it.
I mean DAMN this sounds like some Avengers type shit! Fucking awesome! If you want me to believe a group of people are a team, you give them a theme like this.
I love the thing about who buys drinks after the mission. By the end of the game I was able to remember my team mates' names easily. So they clearly weren't forgettable characters.

So yeah very similar but just distinct enough to not be the same :)
For all of Halo 5’s flaws, I actually appreciate the change of formula. For me, this bombastic opening was a breath of fresh air as opposed to the prior openings where they were more mysterious and less action packed. And it lets you in on the power of the new generation of Spartans.

The best thing about Halo 4 and 5 are the soundtracks. They're not as good as Martin's soundtrack, but they're still amazing.
For me, halo 5's gameplay is what made it good, and 4 had a fairly good weapon and vehicle variety. The music was really pretty awesome though!

***** the music is done for a specific objective with a specific style, so, this music would be perfect for another new franchise, but this is Halo and it needs drums, guitar, bass, and another instuments that i can't remember, and another conposition of the songs. In another words, the ost of halo 5 is excellent, but for another franchise, no for Halo

Halo CE had a distinct style with techno synth and heavy steady drums, 2 had bombastic guitar and rock as well as some songs made entirely by independent groups like Incubus and Breaking Benjamin, Halo 3’s is probably the most halo-y style with emphasis on piano and orchestra, 4’s… well I don’t really know what that was, ODST has smooth and sad saxophone jazz and heavy drums, and Reach has emphasis on Drums, but not in the same steady way CE had.

The chord progession at 0:20 is hauntingly beautiful and I would kill for an entire piece of music that capture the emotion here. Slow but rich in emotional depth following that sound. (don't get me wrong the rest of this piece is great, but its THAT specific chord that leaves me wanting more)

+NathanBiggsXbL I own it.... the game is literal trash. campaign is trash, zero content, spartan customization just isn't a thing, games visuals look like shit besides the lighting and your own player. the only thing I like is that war zone game type and that gets old fast. do they still not have infection in it? I can't with that game. the amount of hours I have invested in the other halo games is too high I'm a big halo fan, this games just has nothing to it.

I loved it. The speed (sprint, thrust, clamber), the weapon & vehicle sandbox, expansive forge, net code & hit detection and the OST! Even enjoyed the scale, action and voice acting of the campaign.
I'm confident people will remember it fondly with time. I'm an old school halo fan, and the 'fans' have been complaining about each release since Halo 2.

incredible first minute. the song is obviously inspired to promote that unexpected "action meets mystery" element. the beginning of the song signifies a recollection... a memory... some type of aftermath and the energy feels "committed" to underlining this importance. the song seems to draw from a perspective of being small and meek and inspirationally transforming into a feeling of purpose and direction alongside determination!
The piano intro. The blur of music in the middle. Little things that make you unstoppable
