Something I love about Halo is how unapologetically pro human it is. Other sci fi universe try to make you symphatize with the aliens but Halo makes you proud to be part of the homo sapien species
No joke, I think that’s part of what sets its enduring popularity. A lot of media since then has aimed for a split between two poles. Utter grim dark stories where everyone is some manner of bastard, or “nuanced” stories where everyone has at least some justification for why they’re the way they are. Halo, by comparison, has always been pretty black and white. The Humans of the UNSC are depicted as a desperate but unified humanity with their backs to the wall, ultimately willing to make immense personal sacrifices to save the species. The covenant are genocidal aliens and the righteousness of that position is never questioned. And it’s only in secondary media where that image is made more debatable. ONI becomes duplicitous bastards of a truly remarkable type, but on the whole the men and women of the UNSC are brave, heroic people pushed to the brink but still standing, which endears us as a superhuman soldier to them. We can survive things they can’t, but they still fight. That’s peak humanity right there, and it’s why the games have stood strong for so long, and why the series plateaued in popularity when they tried to introduce more human conflicts into the mix.

I like to think this art here gives us a good showing as to why UNSC ground troops were so damn effective despite the insane gap in technology and manpower.

It was the coolest shit, I've been ripping and tearing through Spartan ops missions, as I do, because I love spartan ops and feel that it gets a bad rap, anyway, I was really going ham, bobbing and weaving, slaughtering like nobody's business, kicking ass and taking names, fighting the way spartans fight in cutscenes and lore, and right at 4:15 with that explosive drop, a phantom exploded right in front of me, it was awesome, god Crimson kicks ass!

I was too young to appreciate Halo or even play it yet during the Halo 2/Halo 3 era but man I almost wish I was born earlier to have experienced it. I'm doing my second playthrough of all the games again in MCC and I just realized how much I like Halo, I'm even reading the books now.
I didn’t play the first halo wars, but I sure I did play Halo CE on PC, in 2001 Halo 2 for Windows Vista… Then I got the Xbox One with all the collection… Halo 5 Halo Wars 2 and Halo Infinite.
I like to imagine that one Jackal being so confused that he started shooting covenant and just somehow found himself fighting alongside the Humans xD
