This game has one of the best opening songs I've ever heard out of any rpg I've ever experienced. Suikoden III is a game that played a very important part in my wife's love of video games. This game pulled one of the biggest wtf moments that she has ever experienced in any rpg and it blew her away when she finally discovered who was the true villain of the game. She did not see it coming. This is one of many reasons why the suikoden series is her favorite rpg series of all time.
@@dragonballzmaster11 It is full of flaws, has a terrible graphical style, has a bizarre storyline, bizarre gameplay, and the only reason ANYONE would think this is the best - or even better than any other entry, although 4 is around the same level of quality - is nostalgia. So - your opinion is ridiculous.
@@Mscape7 Obviously it's objectively not the best. You didn't have to explain this. However, it is personally my favorite (ie my opinion) so thank you again for respecting it.
I actually got all my 3 heroes to level 99....Actually, I got like 30 characters to level 99 by the end. Yes, I beat Luc in that unwinnable fight. Pro tip--the ninja guys gets massive speed. Give them the berserk rune (uncontrollable but double damage), and there was another rune that drop from the assassins (double damage, your health drop to 1 after a few turns), and you are basically pulling 4 to 6 hits per turn per character at maximum damage from each of them. And no, I never actually experience any fight that lasts more than one round (unless those guys are forced to sit out). The statue room showed which character has the most kill. I think mine was something well over 3000 kills.. For maximum lulz, give your back line Silent Lake, and watch as the entire enemy army gets decimated helplessly.
Great video! Suikoden III holds a special place in my heart too, and it's awesome to learn some new trivia and Easter eggs about the game. The opening sequence is truly stunning, and the fact that it was produced by Gonzo Studios adds even more depth to its beauty. Nash's character development is always intriguing, and the insight into his last name localization was a cool tidbit. Keep up the great work, Hell Fire RPGs! Can't wait to see more content like this.
You forgot to mention a little detail concerning that last character: at one point in the game, she mentions that she is interested in going to a village that is full of nothing but men, which is considered absurd Suikoden 3. By the fifth game, however, we learn firsthand that this village (which is more of a boot camp) does in fact exist. It just so happens to have existed long before the events of suikoden 3, and included female members to the camp sometime after the events of the fifth game.
While II was my favorite, III comes in at a close second. I felt like the story was glorious, the fact that you switched between characters at certain points, and ultimately got to decide who would be your main character in the end (While Geddoe was always my favorite, I, in the few runs I've done of the game, almost always ended up choosing Hugo, because I felt like Chris should have the water rune and Geddoe should keep his True Lightning Rune). Man... What an awesome game. And while it doesn't look great by today's standards, I think it's actually aged pretty well.
Well done hell fire (and Mrs. hell fire) on this video! Suikoden 3 has been one of my favorites for a long time. Every time I hear exceeding love it makes me want to replay it. Keep up the good work man!!!

since suikoden 5 is my first ever suikoden game it'll always stay as my fave but I just recently finished 2 and currently in the middle of 3 (in chp4 doing a lot of grinding). I really couldn't stand the thickheadedness of the knights/warriors from both zexen and grassland but it's still a charming story. I hated the battle system in 4 but I didn't mind 3 and really enjoying myself (also the fact that strategy battle depends on characters' physical skills to take down enemies and not the usual archer infantry cavalry make the battle really interesting and you have to up their skills for a sure victory unlike the battles from other titles).
@@Whayleejay well, I certainly didn't make it up, but after some digging there are a few theories about the song. I actually like the Suikoden 2 opening more. The visuals may not be great, but they do a good job of expressing the emotions in the song. The song is amazing and gives me the feels every time. The feeling I get from the Suikoden 2 opening is hope btw, and I don't know what other song does that for me.
I agree with you there, while the visuals and song of the third game's opening are great, they convey only grief and sadness, Suikoden 2 opening however brings you a more varied scope of emotions: starts as if the day is starting and the sun is rising only to be followed by a sense of danger and dread, then sadness and mourning, but it soon turns into bright hope and determination ending up in high spirits. Such an awesome musical score.
Not comparing suiko 1 & 2 (leave those alone..that's my first rpg and will always be the best) If its Suiko 3 4 or 5.. Suiko 3 was my favourite (memories keep coming back even tho I played this many years ago)

I really enjoyed the battles in this game. It was fun seeing your characters running around. When Suikoden 4 reverted back, I was kind of disappointed.
Suikoden III was a mixed bag for me. As a big fan of the first two games, this one featured a lot of characters and stories that I just didn't like. Probably didn't help that I couldn't play through the game because it would glitch and freeze halfway through every single time. Went through multiple copies of the game but always had that problem.
I prefer Suikoden II's opening, but there is no doubt SIII's is higher quality and very memorable in its own right. SIII may also be the most underrated... Suikoden III and IV are horrible mostly do to gameplay (I don't think Tactics is cannon) and often too cartoony with it's quests of playing as children. Suikoden 3's deathly silence was unbearable at times. Suikoden V was a true return to form, with beautiful gameplay, story, and art.
I didn't like 3 nearly as much.. it felt like you started off with 30 characters, 40 were guaranteed to join you through story, and then 30 of the remaining characters had no story and just said "Can I join you?" - Yes - No? that and the battle wasn't nearly as fun..
I loved the battle system. But I know what mean about some of the characters. It was way too easy to recruit everyone. It took hell of a lot more to get the 108 in Suikoden 2 and get the best ending.
I'm not going to lie. I couldn't stand Suikoden 3. The 3 pronged story and character development was done in a way that ruined it for me. I finished to game once when it forst came ont. Then i sold it. Downloaded it about 4 or 5 years ago in hopes it wasn't as bad as i remember. And it was worse.
if you make Luc the main driver as the whole story arc, and see ending that is meant to be seen, y'all see, 2 and 3, are the best. even rumors, suggest the masked ninja is actually Jowy.
Fei Wong I can understand that. If I had skipped 3 and immediately went to 4, I would be greatly disappointed. 3 was soo bad I almost droped the whole series. Too bad 4 and 5 wasn't on the same level as 1 and 2.

I always really liked Suikoden III, but the music in this installment is god-awful compared to the first two.
+Son of Tiamat I thought it has some great tracks, but like you said, nothing on S2
The overrated Suikoden...
You meant Underrated ;)
No I think it's the most overrated game in the series.
Chris White Really? Usually, people would say that about Suikoden II since it's talked about so much. What makes this one overrated, in your opinion?
if you make Luc the main driver as the whole story arc, and see ending that is meant to be seen, y'all see, 2 and 3, are the best. even rumors, suggest the masked ninja is actually Jowy.
Suikoden 3 was the worst out of the series for me. It's the only one I hated playing.
I thought that damn prequel V was the worst.
Antonio Cunningham for me the worst is 4.
Fei Wong I can understand that. If I had skipped 3 and immediately went to 4, I would be greatly disappointed.
3 was soo bad I almost droped the whole series. Too bad 4 and 5 wasn't on the same level as 1 and 2.
Antonio Cunningham I thought 5 was great
3 was good
4 was the worst
I never played the ds one
all five are good compared to other rpg's at the time.
man i love sookadin
Sook-O-din :P
