This video shows how cardboard molds are useful to accomplish a car seat cover in leather. Same procedures are taught in our basic courses at www.cechaflo.com
The first step consists in drawing the required design on seat foam base. Same design is then transferred to cardboard material in situ.
After having the molds, ready, they are transferred to leather material adding the required seam allowance.
As we can see, it is not necessary to be guessing how to do a cover. The making of molds is the guideline to perform different kind of car seat covers.

Estimado Jorge, Regularmente la mayoría de los tapiceros solamente utilizamos una sola máquina de coser. Me incluyo en esa lista. Yo empezé hacer tapicería como muchos con una máquina de coser Singer casera a la cual adapté el pié de presión de rodaja/rodachin/rueda
Con el paso del tiempo me di cuenta que para lograr optimizar nuestro trabajo es importante contar con las diferentes tipos de máquinas que se utilizan en las fábricas. En 1979 llegué a fabricar una prensa para grabar puertas de carro y asientos de motocicletas.

It's a perfect seat covers equalent to factory fitted seat covers ur specs measurements and finish rearely anyony follows now a days . U can also teach the factory guys.i am sure if u try sending some of ur videos they will instantly hire u across the table.
Dear Prakash, I have used an artisan way to do this rear seat. If I would work for a factory I would use a different method to accelerate the production and make things much easier for the upholsterers.
This video demonstrates that molds can help a lot to make seat covers from scratch.

This is quality work and nicely shown! I would only say that the leather used is not my preference (too bumpy). The original jaguar leather was nicer (although there was a lot of vinyl).
I think it is matter of personal taste. If I would have to replicate an original cover for a car I would use an original thinner and softer leather similar to the one I used for a sunvisor.ruclips.net/video/3eADT0EJI10/видео.html
These rear seats are going to be a kind of sofa for my upholstery shop that is why I chose that leather texture.

Is the foot you are using something that you designed or modified? I really enjoy your videos, I have been doing my own upholstery work as a hobby for about 10 years.
I designed it and did it out of a standard two toe feet. I can sew a little thicker pipings/weltings.

Backrest and bench seat took a week to finish it. The red material is a kind of canvas fabric. It could be used another similar fabric.

Dear Mark, Common sense and some patience are the best masters in life. Grasping knowledge from here and there then putting it into the sifting machine to get what is more convenient.

The cord foot that you use in this video where did you buy it my cord foot rise on top of the cord it makes me have to sew twice to get it I like the cord for that you using in your
Out of a standard pair of feet I did an adaptation to get a piping foot. It is not necessary as they come in different sizes. I would recommend you to purchase the four standard feet which are for sale. As I am devoted to upholstery I will do it at any moment.

La primer máquina es una 'rebajadora de cuero/piel' . Se rebajó el borde (15mm) a 1 mm de espesor para mejorar la costura.

Maestro cesar quiero cambiarle a mi maquina el motor de cloch de cuantos caballos me recomienda , porque tiene un servo motor y cuando coso un material grueso no lo cose solo no avanza y me cuesta cocerlo.
En el minuto cinco:36 de este video ( ruclips.net/video/g-64WWA_E8Q/видео.html)se muestra la potencia del motor de clutch. Generalmente, estas máquinas utilizan un motor de 1/2 HP (horse power/caballo de fuerza) De 1425 a 1700 R.P.M

Espero que tenga un excelente día. Sigo aprendiendo atravez de sus excelentes videos aunque por mi trabajo no le pueda dar el seguimiento a mi negocio que pretendo, pero sigo practicando en mis descansos.
Mi pregunta es:que tipo de piel es (creo que yo hasta ahorita conozco la que se llama bruma y vestimenta), el hilo que utiliza para la doble costura, que grosor de hilo y que marca es, así como el ancho de la puntada? Ya que he hecho pruebas con el omega y si tiene muy mala calidad (ahora que ya voy conociendo de materiales, desafortunadamente por acá no hay muchas opciones). Muchas gracias por su atención y que dios lo bendiga.
Un cordial saludo amigo Erasmo. Con respecto a las pieles para tapicería, las mas comunes son las que se usan para mueble y para carro y efectivamente le llaman vestimenta. Las pieles son de vaca o de toro que son un poco mas grandes y mas resistentes.
Las pieles para mueble son mas suaves y algunas veces llevan una capa de laca transparente muy ligera. Las pieles para carro tienen hasta 3 capas de laca para que el color pigmento no se salga al sentarse continuamente. Son mas resistentes a la humedad y los rayos del sol.
En ciudad de Mexico hay una sucursal de tenería azteca que vende pieles para mueble y para carro:teneriaazteca.mx/

Para las puntadas decorativas por encima se puede usar el hilo cero y las puntadas desde 4, 5 , 6mm Y en muebles 8 mm a 10mm. En cuanto al hilo el mas común es el de polyester. En cuanto a marcas, no podría recomendar una en especial.
