gosh, what is that music that kicks in at 22:28 or so? I cannot find it in either the old patlabor on tv or the new one's audio stuff, and I'd love to find the original, probably full length bit of it
No, Patlabor as a series doesn't much concern itself with war, and it's not a major plot point. The focus is usually on policing and the more mundane aspects of the setting.
Man i remember having full manga collection. But i lose them when our house caught fire. Kinda weird that i recognize the ingram, but didnt remember the story.
Witch one, Griffon or Kanuka's labor? If Griffon, they have superior system, so you never worried about battery. If Kanuka's labor, I suggest you to watch "Patlabor on Television" episode 2, you will know why.
This is the New Files OVA which is a continuation of the tv series as it's set in the tv universe. The Griffon however first debut in the tv series. The original Early Days OVAs didn't have the Griffon. Funnily enough, ED is set in the movies universe.

Japanese: *build state of the art 4 story talk humanoid robot* Also Japanese: *give the robot a giant revolver for a weapon* I legit loled when I saw that. No laser gun. No super-advanced automatic rifle. I literal revolver...what?
Basically the series takes place in an alternate universe 1999. Patlabor was suppose to be a somewhat more "realistic" take on mecha. The mechs are called Labors, they were created to speed up construction projects but branched out to other services (Police, Fire Department, Military) In lore upscaled weapons are easier to make however there is one Labor mecha in the tv series that is experimental, it runs on AI and uses an Ionizing Laser beam weapon, its called the "Phantom"
@@EpicBlargman I know, that's why it's funny. Because you can't simply upscale conventional guns. Physics doesn't work that way. A giant functioning revolver like that would either shatter or have a bullet too weak to do anything. The real world gun is the least believable part of the show.
For more realism and less riduculness, of you want op battles made for kids, i suggest you to return to your Gundam. This is made to be the most acurate possible if those kind of mech enforcers truly exist.

This anime from 80's actually...
It is awesome how Patlabor really thinks about the kinetics and mechanics of a giant mech.
Not to mention the size. Most Labors don't make it pass 10 meters tall. The flared legs on the Ingram was design such a way to give it a lower center of gravity considering its height. For some reason small mechs intrigues me.
Patlabor is not just an anime for kids, the story is surprisingly very complicated to be understood for adults too.
Wait until you watch the second movie. It's as if as Tom Clancy written the story.
The anime is for kids but its political situations not even adult can understand.
It's one of the reasons I like it so much. Also, the realism in the Labors and its systems, nothing too 'otherworldly' like crazy powerplants.
lol what, if anything it's the opposite Patlabor was not made for kids.
Was actually rather thoughtful about putting an ejection seat for when they activated the self destruct

I mean, this was Schaft. They're in the military market and gave Bud free reign in the machine. Griffon was going to outclass them either way.
