    I’ve been looking for something like this for forever, thank you. I bought a Panthera a little over 6 months ago and shelfed it because my movement was lacking and couldn’t make any progressions because I wasn’t well informed. I couldn’t get the extra b input to save my life and it was just so natural on pad so I had basically given up.

      I know I’m late on this video by the way, but if you could give any helpful exercises or warm up tips to become more accustom/comfortable with the stick that would be awesome.

      @@velocity6306 No problem! I'm glad this was able to help. I don't have exercises per se, but what I do to warm up is rotate my stick both clockwise and counter clockwise, getting diagonal inputs without touching the dead zones. That helped me get used to how gentle I could push a direction and still get an input. Rotating in both directions helps you also get used to p1 and p2 movement since your wrist naturally bends back on p1 but on p2 you have to use more movement. Its the main reason why many tekken players use p1 side only. I prefer p2 myself but it definitely is easier on p1 side.

      StormHowl_ Does you preferring P2 side have anything to do with playing a Mishima, or just personal preference overall?

    • @StormHowl

      @@velocity6306 It's kind of a risk reward scenario. Do you want easier movement but harder to do Electric, or an easier electric with harder to do movement? I always had a weaker p2 side to the point where if I had gotten side switched my movement was crippled so I spent a long time trying to get used to it, and now it's my preferred side. With other characters it's similar but with different moves.

      StormHowl_ I got ya, I main Eliza so it’s a bit backwards for me. P1 would be my preferred side for doing instant air divekicks.

    Jeez, that's fucking badass and I genuinely had *zero clue* about some of this stuff. Super cool.

      That's awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it, hopefully more people will be able to do the kbd with this.

    Completely agree with you , it’s about not pulling at a 45 degree angle. If you do this correctly , you can get the back dash by doing db neutral back . You don’t necessarily have to even start from back back or back , you can start at db and if you pull at the right angle, when you release to neutral , you will get the extra back

      StormHowl_ I'm just still having trouble getting the rhythm down
      My movements used to be too broad but after seeing this I realized I can do the movement much more gently. I was initially led to believe I was supposed to do a reverse wavedash which was not very efficient.

    • @StormHowl
      @StormHowl  6 лет назад

      SPiCY OBGYN Reverse wave dash works, but not for all characters. Paul, Nina, and a few others cannot use that because of their back sway

      StormHowl_ yeah it's also a lot slower. I'll get the rhythm eventually I practice everyday. Definitely have a sub from me. Bummer I play on Xbox but when I switch to pc we can mirror match devil Jin :p

    Yeah, from 1p side I just find it difficult to do with the default JLF microswitches. Replaced them with Cherry D44Xs which require less pressure to activate and it became substantially easier because it could be done with a more subtle motion. With the stock Omron switches, I found that that the left direction wouldn't activate while the stick was returning to neutral.

    • @StormHowl
      @StormHowl  6 лет назад

      Saad Khalid Thats interesting. I started with Hori and qanba stock sticks when found the transition to JLF to be much easier to control. Theres a certain stiffness in the two former sticks that were nice but made inputs clean but harder on the hands. When I went to JLF its like I took off weights. JLF feels quite comfortable to me but I'm interested in checking our your parts some time. Where did you ordrr yours? Focus Attack?

    • @audiosmurf
      @audiosmurf 6 лет назад +1

      I've never used a Qanba stick but I've heard the travel distance and actuation force for the Hori Hayabusa stick is actually lower than the Sanwa so I've been meaning to try it out. Also yeah, switching to the Cherry microswitches felt like I took off weights, although I added in a 2lb spring to make the stick return to neutral faster. I'm based in UK so I ordered my parts from arcadeworlduk.com but the Cherry D44Xs are also available on focusattack: www.focusattack.com/cherry-d44x-75g-187-microswitch/ --- The stock Omron microswitches in the JLF have an activation force of 200g whereas the Cherrys are 75g, much lighter.
      You'll need a .187 to 5 pin harness for them but it's easy to set up. With most fighters you can get away with a stock JLF or whatever else but KBDC and Wavedashing are such complex and precise inputs that it's totally worth fiddling around with your setup to see what works best for you. I also really like Seimitsu sticks but that's whole other can of worms.

      Saad Khalid Awesome, thanks so much.

    is this the same with x box 360 controllers?

    • @StormHowl
      @StormHowl  5 лет назад

      Absolutely. It requires a different kind of finesse since controllers use digital inputs instead of analog but its still possible. For example, the dpad doesnt make a lot of noise and clicks so you cant really apply that.
      The best way that I have seen is Anakin's tutorial on back dashing. You can look it up on his channel Hoa Luu, but the TLDR is to get comfortable being able to dash from crouch. So you do a back dash, crouch and stay crouched, then try to back dash from there by getting the input I explained, the db, b, n. I recommend you watch the whole video, its quite genius.

    I dont care what anyone says t4 was the best and kbd turned into such a monster its ruined tekken. All games are reduced to a low poke kbd and praying for whiffs oh and i guess some feinting.
