  • Hey guys, in this video we'll be building and showcasing a super efficient and 100% AFK mob farm in Valheim to gather unlimited amounts of both coal and surtling cores; all while being able to AFK as long as you'd like without the worry of dying. Valheim (PC) is a massive open world survival game on Steam with so many interesting systems to take advantage of. I enjoy creating super efficient and time saving builds in Valheim as well as other sandbox games, so I decided to learn how to create and edit videos to show you guys how you can do the same. If you find this to be cool or useful in your Valheim world, show this video some love and I'll continue making time-saving content for you!
    Skål!

He has 3 videos, chill. The wood video is extremely useful, the ore metal one is overcomplicated and not true farm and this which is also overbuilt. Just lowering the ground around the spawn will do the trick. It's not like the surtlings will run away from the spawn area. I appreciate his effort tho

I was watching a valheim vid from some youtuber who had like 230k subscribers. I just wanted to know if there were any tricks to fishing, and this fool had like a 45 minute stream as his vid. Super annoying commentary, clearly over-exaggerated excitement and forced quips. Totally obnoxious and a waste of time, no idea why people tag along with streamers like that. Your vids are exactly what I want, and I'm not alone. I hope you go far man.

He shows how to build the basic concept in the first half, then a more elaborate version in the second half. It's 0% bullshit while also not skipping over any details. Nicely detailed content, I was in two minds about going to the effort of making one of these because an imperfect execution can be fatal but the detail you gave was invaluable (especially showing the leech kill). I expected it to be too long but there were only a few superfluous bits (I think you made the 3x3 point too often).

So from my observations, the amount of items that have to spawn for anything to happen is around 10-20k. This could be dependent on your settings, but this is what I experienced personally. Even more interesting though, is that while experimenting with this I noticed that instead of items de-spawning - they actually started to consolidate their stacks with nearby items of the same type. Really interesting stuff. I don't have a video showcasing this, but you can see it in action a few times during my mega tree farm build. Pretty interesting stuff.

I like it, the main problem though is that the items will despawn without a workbench. It's a really hard issue to overcome too because with a workbench, the surtlings just don't spawn. Maybe there's a way to spawn the surtlings outside of a workbench zone but kill them in one so the drops don't despawn? Idk though. What I've done is just set up as many little cheap pits as I can around the swamp so that I can just take a lap every time I need to smelt to get a few stacks of coal. I will say this design is great though if you're at your PC maybe watching RUclips or something so that you can collect the drops every time the surtlings spawn

if you have a lot of smelters to feed you can set up a chain of portals, starting from your smelters just hop from one dug out spawner to the next, to the next, etc. then the last portal in the loop takes you back to your smelters. Wood walkways make it even faster as you're not worried about swamp terrain. It's good to do coal runs at night so you can hunt wraiths for chains at the same time.

@@chiller49 I considered that, but terraforming the land like that can cause some significant lag for some. And though the walls can be damaged, or even destroyed, you can whip out a stonecutter and repair them, then break it down and put the mats in a chest. I'm not 100% on the workbench, I mostly stayed in my dugout while Afking the farm for a few hours at a time. Also items seem to consolidate when the game loads ~10-20,000 unique instances or "items" rather than disappear all together so I think the disappearing thing was either a bug or misinterpretation.
